And to add...there are guys that have more high- tech videos than you but your still are the most precise and helpful very easy to understand and follow
Very helpful. Thanks. I used the board for 2 years as FoH for a popular local wedding band, but I did't own and did not set up. Now have my own and trying to figure out routing. did hit that subscribe button for your efforts.
@turbineNoise 2 Reasons: 1. When you use the level knob on the FX it changes the amount of the effect in both the mains and the monitors. If your band has the amount of effects they want adjusted in their monitors you don't want to change it on them every time you want to make a change to the mains. 2. When your in the middle of a live mix it's quicker and easier to make accurate adjustments to a fader than to a knob.
Awesome tutorial man! You should do a video on how to actually intertwine the studio live with PT9 and send individual headphone mixes! I'm struggling with that :/
Can you only have 2 effects? How would you run a verb for the drums (Snare & Toms) that is continuous, & then a vocal verb & delay that you can control with a slider. Also can you use an effect on a channel or only a sub group? I have never ran a digital board and will be running one of these starting next week at a club that uses this board. I have yet to even see one of these, so your videos have given me a good idea now & I'm feeling better about what my first experience is gonna be like. :-)
There are only 2 effect engines built into the mixer. So only 2 different effects. Although you can on one engine create an effect that includes both verb and delay, you just won't be able to independently control them. You can however add multiple effects if you run the sound through Studio One, the free software that comes with the mixer. But since you are using someone else's board you may not have access to the software.
Thanks for your great how to videos! Really got me up and running. One question? How do I get effects in to the IEM Aux settings? Right now they are dry but the effect is in the mains no problem but the guys are complaining their ear mix is dry. Can you help?
You can add a little, a lot or none of each of your effects to each channel. Hit the mix button on the FX you are using and then turn up the knobs on the LED strip only on the channels you want the effect in. Watch the video again, you'll notice where I explain how to do it.
Hey housetop I set the fx channels like u did in video and had a problem getting mixer to work the next time we used it ... had something to do with the mono delay ... did I program it wrong ? save it wrong ?
Thanks for these excellent videos you have made. I do have a question. We had sound technician come in and changed the timing of the reverb. I saw that you changed it in the delay. Is it done the same way in the reverb. I really liked the way he had it and would like to bring it back without messing anything up.
Hi there, nice videos they have been quite usefull. Have you had the chance to hook it up to a Mac using Logic? The click time the i use on my logic project will it be sent to the effect engines on studiolive?ex. my project is set to 120bpm...will the two aux efx recive that bpm from logic?
I had my board sent back to Presonus for repair. After some maintenance and reset, it came back with no presets. Everything is gone, vocal effects and all. Is there a way to download these back to board and how?
BTW, mine is newer and doesn't have that screen you went to to assign effect to aux. Mine you have to hit the Mix button twice and then it brings up the first five fat channels dark and supposedly I can add effect there but nothing happens.
Why do you route the FX to a sub group? Doesn't the level setting on the FX group basically do that or do you get more functionality out of using a sub group?
Yeah, that was a huge thing to forget on this video. Sorry! You pick what channels and how much verb you want when you press the mix button on the FX and use the knobs below the LED strips to add a little, a lot or no FX to each channel.
Please help me if you can, i have recently bought a used 16.4 2 desk, its a great and i love it. One thing i cant do is route the fx to the aux buss, problem being the routing page 4 simply isnt there! Page 4 is fx a save and 5 is fx b save. No more pages are available. This is weird, any ideas? Is there a factory reset rather than a board reset? Thanks in advance. Matty
If you are on firmware version 1.50a +: You can control the send level of the FX channels by using Aux Flip mode. To use this mode, select the Aux you want to use and press the Mix button twice which will switch the first six meters and encoders to become the aux-send level controls for the : 1) Main FireWire Return 2) Analog Tape In 3) Aux Input A 4) Aux Input B 5) FXA 6) FXB
Ive got a question for you, my monitors are in aux 1 & 2 like yours once i assign reverb to the monitors can I change the amount of reverb in the monitors? and how would i do that?
@Kritter1musicFuneral Thanks for the compliment. I do plan on making more videos soon. I'm taking everyone's suggestions and hope to make a much nicer set of videos in the near future.

Presonus have bad effect for my ears. Very bad reverb, delays etc. That is why they are hiding how they sound. They just turn sounds off and do things with knobs. I hear it just a little bit, but enough. I went to this video hopping to hear a sound. But nothing. Very tipical for presonus - hidding bad effects.
TEN years later and this video has helped me beyond words..I purchased a used board hadn't a clue where to get started!

great video series. You just saved my life, I have to mix a band in friday and I have never used this board. Thanks.
I have a gig with this desk Sunday. You've saved my bacon! Thanks so much.

Great Vid. Thanks. How do I send a channel to FX? Say I want all vocals and snare to get some FX, but I want kick, bass, and guitar to run dry?
Hello i dont have the aux assign setting on my mixer? How do i route the effects for my aux mix.

Yes same question it’s not working for me
How do you adjust HOW MUCH reverb to an Aux send?

Can you help with using a firewire
Is there chorus and flanges available?

very good video !
can the effects be routed to a channel, so it can then be handled just like a normal input? Can it be easily just added into a monitor mix?
Hi, is the firmware of your SL 16.4.2 updated? I couldn't find that (fx page 4)-aux route settings in my SL.
My SL firmware is 1.50a, build 190

Aux Faders. No?
Thanks Gaara, problem solved :-)
How do I set each channel with its own reverb and delay setting and save it.
There is nowhere available to find this instruction
No way to use more than 2 different effects and their setups. You can assign 2 effects to any output (but not Input channels)
How long has that cup coffee been there?

I don’t have that page 4 on the fx menu, help. Is my PreSonus too old or does it need an update or something ?

I found your opening joke hilarious
When I apply or remove fx A or B from one channel on my 16.0.2, it applies or removes from all channels. Why???!!!
strange - my efx A and B does not have a efx to aux. it has 3 efx pages only . the efx send to aux is on page 4. nobody has this problem?
Same problem here!! Have u managed to fix this?
