    Vitamin D is an important vitamin that functions like a hormone in the body.
    This nutrient is important in -

    - production of neurotransmitters
    - modulating inflammation

    Vitamin D levels have been shown to be low in people with migraine, and with supplementation, the severity and frequency of symptoms improves.
    Also, Vitamin D has been shown to decrease CGRP levels in migraine patients.
    My threshold for starting supplementation is low and in my patients, I usually like to aim for levels in the range of 50-70 ng/dL.

    My bad migraines first started in perimenopause. Eight years later migraines stopped when finally got on HRT, estradiol patch and progesterone prescribed. Haven't have anymore hot flashes or migraines!
