I think that for small channels the most important thing is to get good presence from the beginning. If you are not popular, people won't care even if you have the best videos and the best content on platform. I am not beginner anymore, but I know how hard it can be (and honestly if I didn't use a lot of Fame- ster, I would have quit a long time ago. It made everything much easier for me, especially getting to 1000 subs and view hours).

Being personal and vulnerable is actually a profound strength. It takes courage to show up as your true self in a world that often celebrates perfection and filters. And it's this courage that makes you stand out and draws people in-not just as followers, but as genuine supporters and allies on your journey. So, when you embrace your vulnerabilities and share them openly, you’re not just being true to yourself-you’re inspiring others to do the same. Keep going, you’re doing amazing!

Virginia, I found your challenge on my feed because I'm starting to upload more videos and trying to revive my channel. I love your honesty and the fact that it doesn't seem like you're trying to hold anything back from us (learning wise). I've learned a lot!
I'm an artist and am hoping to share parts of my life as an artist and that includes being an older woman (and feeling invisible and all that goes with that... bleh). Showing just my art and my painting process in the past has only attracted other artists, which is fine but I believe that today people want to have more of a connection with artists. At least I'm hoping so. So, I'm trying the same thing you are by opening up, being vulnerable and authentic. I'm not doing the daily videos like you have, I did try it just hasn't worked out. But I'm not stopping, just trying to be more consistent and hopefully create videos that people and potential collectors might find interesting.
Thank you for creating these videos!

Im hoping to be able to monetize at least to the point it pays for my gas and helps with doing van life full time. Ive been promoting my videos to my other platforms which I now see is whats killing me. Il have all these people come from external but then they dont watch but 30 seconds. Leave a like or a comment. Thinking there helping me. When instead there making the algorithm think i have crappy content. Im going to stop promoting specific videos on FB.

hey Virginia! I actually like your thumbnails, I think some of the overdone and overproduced ones are very obnoxious, I think it is your white smile that draws me in! Lol coming to your channel and leaving a comment has actually resulted in people visiting my channel, so I am extremely grateful for that! I tend to upload twice over the weekend but not during the week, and I’ve definitely seen my analytics rise when I do that… I will have to work on the type of content that works for daily uploads, which will be a little different the content I would do only weekly. my subject matter is definitely different than yours and I think sometimes that is the deciding factor. YES - I'm on day 2 of my personal YT posting challenge. I've uploaded two long -form videos (one 6 minute today and one 18 minute yesterday).
I'm an artist (oil on canvas - impressionism and depth psychology works), and I'm trying to develop art sales by somehow building some interest here on UA-cam. I've learned that it's really difficult to hone in on an audience and their needs . . can't quite put my finger on my ideal YT viewer.
I'd like to get designers, real estate people and actual collectors watching the videos. . . but I fear, like with Instagram, that I've just got voyeurs that like pretty pictures and time-lapse videos of artwork in progress. Best stats win so far is a SHORT that has 500+ views and some likes. You inspire me Virginia! Much thanks!
P.S. I'm set up to sell merch (t-shirts, art prints, puzzles, mugs, etc.) . . . and that's another potential avenue for developing sales through YT. Lower cost, non-originals or expensive prints.

I found your channel during this challenge and I've been thinking about taking my channel more seriously and joining the TCG space as a creator. You've given me a lot to consider and think about in getting started. Thank you for all the advice and suggestions. For me, I think the one thing keeping me from starting or getting consistent is that I worry about editing because I don't have any editing software or it's all free low budget stuff.
One of my friends saw me getting in my head a bunch and she told me to look up like 3 or 4 of the channels I like watching in my niche, but to focus on their first videos because in my friend's words, I have to "let yourself be crunchy". I'm looking forward to trying that and seeing how that makes me feel in addition to applying some of the tips I get from creators like you. Thank you for this challenge. What an inspiring challenge! I’ve learned so much, especially from this video. It never occurred to me to just be open about the fact that I'm making a video while connecting with my audience. You've really opened my eyes to the idea of getting my community involved & excited. Thank you💐for all your hard work during these 21 days - you’re an awesome teacher!

Congratulations, Virginia. Your challenge is really inspiring. I have so many questions.... Have you considered just uploading Monday through Friday to give yourself a break at the weekends? Have you considered batch producing, i.e. filming Monday, editing Tuesday, and then scheduling your videos? Have you seen growth in sales to your biz during this challenge?

Thank you! I have been trying to figure out what to do with my channel. I've decided to do a daily painting video challenge. It's so difficult to finish one of my larger paintings in a week, much less a day! I'm going to paint small studies for my challenge. Thank you for the inspiration!

I have been watching your challenge every day. Not sure what part of the algorithm put it in my feed originally. But after I watched that first video, before subscribing, UA-cam put your daily video as the very first video in my Recommended feed every day. Just thought it might give you some extra data as you watch your analytics. I’ve enjoyed each day!

Wow, that’s huge growth. I’m one of the people who just discovered and subbed to you during this challenge. I don’t have time in my personal life to post daily. Maybe my challenge should be posting weekly. That would be hard enough for me especially when life gets busier.

I have absolutely loved watching your videos and following along! If you do another review on channels please feel free to review mine! Initially I was creating content for direct sellers / network marketing entrepreneurs, but I wanted to shift and speak to online entrepreneurs that had traditional style business models and wanted to build an online presence. However I feel like I’m just all over the place mentally. That could be my hormones as well since I’ve had a whole issues there 😂😂😂 But I have always loved watching you and your channel even with the characters because you we’re so good with explaining and breaking things down!!! Thank you so much for sharing your journey for the last 20 days!!! You are absolutely amazing 🤩!!! Keep up all the amazing content!

Really good idea. For me, I decided to upload shorts 3 times to a day because I noticed shorts get subs but, not public watch time. Posting 3 times a day has increase my subs by 7 to 10 daily as opposed to 1 to 2 daily. I'm at 831 subs today. Once I get to 1,000 I'll start posting long forms more often, maybe one a day to get my public watch time from 689 to that 4,000. I have increased my public watch time too since posting 3 daily shorts! That's because subs are watching the my old long form videos even though I haven't posted any new long form videos in 3 weeks. My take away: Shorts work to get subs, long form work to get public watch time. Tips: Make long form videos long and get that public watch time. For the most part shorts don't add toward your 3000-4000 public watch time for monetization. But, they get more subs, for me anyway.

I like the idea of the challenge, maybe not every day, but I definitely want to start posting once per week or more again. Unfortunately for me, ai think my niche doesn’t really seem to do as well without showing something. Both in the world of tools or technology. People want to see you using the latest drill or saw or playing with the latest phone or other gadget. Occasionally I think of ideas that I might be able to just talk about, but I’m concerned without the visuals my retention will be bad and wondering if it could hurt my channel instead of help. I’m planning to post a video about an update to the stem cell surgery I had, hoping that medical tech isn’t too far off what my viewers are interested in, especially since it’s a personal story. Hopefully it’ll do pretty well.

First, there's no question that your presentation skills, editing skills, and knowledge are great. And the energy you're putting in is amazing. I guess I need help to understand how other topics besides "how to grow your youtube channel" by teaching "how to grow your youtube channel" can be as successful or even close. I've seen a lot of your videos and have learned. There must be so many new youtubers looking for your help. I cannot teach the same thing so my audience wouldn't be as hungry even if I posted 3 times a day. So, how would I hope to grow in the same way? Thank you Virginia,

  • @JamesMurphyYT
    @JamesMurphyYT 2 місяці тому

Since you started this, I've followed every day and without realising it, I've gone to doing 3 videos a week. Last year, I was doing one video every 3 days, but when I hit 1000 subs, I stopped and went back to one video a week. I also have pivoted back to my original reason for building the channel. And guess what? It tanked.
Over the past 3 weeks or so, I've gone from maybe adding one new sub a fortnight back to seeing some growth - not marvellous growth, but consistent. Yesterday I added 8 new subscribers and have been adding daily.
I'm not sure daily posting is for me, but 3 a week, I think I can comfortably cope with. And that's down to your videos. Thank you. I've noticed as well, that my thumbnails have changed and are looking more stable as well.
