Hi Donna! It sounds like you are on the right path with A LOT to talk about! I'm still finding my way, hopefully I can keep it interesting. Thanks for the comments and watching my video.
Your channel found me by popping up in my feed. Having 466 subscribers since August is impressive. I monitor channels similar to yours, whether successful or not, to see what seems to be working and what isn't. There's one in particular I follow that has taken off this year after one of the videos went viral and I'm trying to decode what's making it click. I, too, have a channel as a retiree with the niche being the many ways you can optimize and enjoy retirement. It's been mostly DIY and How To videos up to this point, however, because I've always done a lot of remodeling work and this was the year of the major house overhaul after living here 28 years. It will trend more to travel, biking, vehicle restoration, being outdoors, fitness, and retirement specific topics in the future. Your channel appears similar in the sense that you spoke of finding different ways to occupy yourself when retired. I will keep watching and wish you success.
@fredbehn9287 Thanks Fred...this first video seems to be the one resonating most with people. Finding the formula since then has been a lot hard, but I'm still grinding.
How fun to come across your channel - and I recognize some of those other creators! Hooray for starting again - and this time, you are also in front of the camera! I'm in Texas, too.
Amazing, new follower here (I’m 49 but getting older - heard it’s kinda unavoidable 😮) I need to follow these other channels! I’m hopping on the pattywagon 😂🙌
What a great and encouraging video. My wife too is from Taiwan. We are a made for kids channel. I was thinking of starting a Disney VLOG. Keep up the good work
I think you touched on a very interesting idea there when you commented about being an older parent. That is becoming much more common now and I think it ties in well with your channel ideas. It's a territory that is largely unexplored on UA-cam and yet is a fast growing population that may be a great audience/community for your channel.
Congratulations on finding a great retirement hobby. I did the same last summer while on vacation in portugal. I shot a few videos and off the cuff. I thought, what will i do with these videos? I uploaded a video, and Cooze Adventures was born. Cheers to lots more to come. What a great retirement hobby.
I have a 10 year old and 2 kids in college, so retirement isn't here just yet for me lol. I'll be sure to check out your channel later. Thanks for commenting.
Hello my new friend, I retired back in February after 43 years in the transportation and logistics industry I like your style. I will be looking for more and more inspiration. 😃
Nice jobI I am next, 63, very intimidated but still going for it. Don't know a thing about editing or video, hopefully I will learn quick. Good Job on yours Allen, Rockon
Totally I just started my channel recently and very consistent. I’m 53 and thought I would do this but it’s a great idea and I’m here to support you too. Let’s all of us get this together. I have so much to share besides my love for cooking. The very best to you. You have me as your follower now
I’m one of the “older” people who just started a UA-cam. Looking for my niche as well. Just posted my first video today. Turned 50 in June 😩❤️ The universe talked me into it and some fellow UA-camrs inspired me.
@FreeThinkingWoman-d8j That's great! I took a quick peek, my only advice would be to shoot your longer videos like that horizontally. Other than that, good start and good luck!
Loved this video (and your channel happily 'supported' I heard YT doesn't like the 'S' word ) I'm 69 and went full-time off-grid at 66 - new hobby documenting it on YT - learned LOTS from your footage 👍
I turned on the TV tonight and there you were. I was interested in your channel because I’m starting the UA-cam channel. Not sure about my niche just yet but I’m working on it. I think it will be fun and exciting. Congratulations on your channel. I will be watching I subscribed. 🎉🎉
Allen, I got onto your channel for the first time last night. Needless to say, I was very impressed with your casual and unscripted approach. You have all the necessary ingredients to make the channel successful. I'm 77+ years old, and with your inspiration and a few other older UA-camrs I follow, I will soon begin my UA-cam journey. Congratulations on a tremendous FIRST video and much success in the future.
Thank you so much for your comments. My approach is definitely unscripted! I look forward to seeing what you come up with for your channel. Let me know if you have any questions down the road.
@@allenreid62 I do have one question for you, Allen. When you posted examples of other UA-camrs' videos, did you have to seek permission from them? I subscribe to Robthemaritimer and others, which I'd like to use as examples in the future. I see that you used Rob in this video.
@@themeparkmobility I wasn't 100% certain, so I DID ask each of them for permission just to play it safe. One person did not respond in time, so I ended up dropping her because I wanted the video out that day.
Wow Allen, I'm on the same UA-cam journey. So many parallels with your story (I'm 62 and my youngest son is 13). I'm planning to retire from expat life next March (home is UK) and have lots of hobbies and stuff I think I want to chat about/share. No idea about my niche, so I'll just get started and see where stuff takes me. Thanks for a great into. Good luck!

I have lots of plans for it but doing it is another matter! Good to meet you and I have already subscribed. Best wishes Michael
I'm subbing because we have a couple things in common. On the older side and started a You Tube channel. You have me beat on the editing , for sure! Love the reality takes at the end. Now I don't feel so bad. Still, way better than my putting. Good luck with the channel.
Thank you and good luck with your channel! It's can be a fun and frustrating at the same time if you keep your expectations in check. I do think the pluses outweigh the minuses.
@ I’m hoping it works out but not stressing over it. It’s fun, get to meet people in the chats and keeping me computer savvy! Maybe future grandkids will get a chuckle out it too. Nice to meet you.
Found you in my feed. I just started (almost 60). I am learning how to ride a motorcycle and decided to just document it. So happy I did. I didn’t think anyone would be interested in watching an old person do this…but there are folks in this demographic are looking for peers to be inspired by.
Great content and you have a great sense of humor. I'm 62 also and just started my YT channel 2 weeks ago. I've actually had it for 7 years but never did anything with it. I found you by looking for older UA-camrs like me (Over 50+). Anyway I just subscribed and look forward to following your journey. I don't know how to edit my videos yet so they're raw LOL but I'll learn. Cheers - Martin

Hi, I have subscribed and I want to wish you success with your new UA-cam channel. I'll be looking forward to watching your content - whatever you'd like to talk about. Your channel was recommended in my feed and I also watch some of the creators you featured in your video. I'm Canadian, from northern Ontario and have a small channel on UA-cam as well.

By the way, the tag in my reply is not for my channel. I can reply with that if you're interested. Thanks
@fredbehn9287 Thanks Fred...this first video seems to be the one resonating most with people. Finding the formula since then has been a lot hard, but I'm still grinding.
Giving this one a full watch! Warm wishes from Millionaire Paul (aged 58) 😅👋
How fun to come across your channel - and I recognize some of those other creators! Hooray for starting again - and this time, you are also in front of the camera! I'm in Texas, too.
Glad you found me! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the inspiration and making me smile. :) You'r "bloopers" at the end was priceless! ha ha ha!
BTW, is subscribed, just because!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for subscribing!
Amazing, new follower here (I’m 49 but getting older - heard it’s kinda unavoidable 😮) I need to follow these other channels! I’m hopping on the pattywagon 😂🙌
@@claribelcorona You're just a kid, but welcome to come hang out! Thanks for joining me here.
Love this! Just started my over 40 channel (I’m 48.5).
@@LifeWithShuntá Thanks Shunta!
I'm listening....
1:40 you came across my feed. I to started a new channel on crochet, quilting and tatting!
What a great and encouraging video. My wife too is from Taiwan. We are a made for kids channel. I was thinking of starting a Disney VLOG. Keep up the good work
@@CJ-Adventures Thanks! And good luck with your channel as well.
Enjoyed your introductory vid. Subbed and liked.
That's great...glad to hear it! Thank you.
I think you touched on a very interesting idea there when you commented about being an older parent. That is becoming much more common now and I think it ties in well with your channel ideas. It's a territory that is largely unexplored on UA-cam and yet is a fast growing population that may be a great audience/community for your channel.
I've never thought of it that way, but I think you're right. I plan on doing a q&a type video with my youngest soon.
You are doing amazing🎉🎉
Thanks for watching!
Good stuff man !
@@ddollardom thanks Dom!
Great first Video! I just created my channel yesterday at 52, going to post my first video in the next week 😢
@@BarbosBuzz Best of luck to you!
I'm 61 and retired. Congratulations on starting your Chanel. Best wishes. Also, great job on the video.
@@TimothyDeck Thank you, Tim.
I love this trend! Just subscribed to your channel 👏 it’s never too late. Great storytelling and editing!
@melaniegriesemer That's great! Glad to have you on board!
Yours popped up in my feed after I’d watched videos from some of the creators you featured. I can relate to the agony of missing a putt! 😂
That's great! Glad you found me. My agony now is I can't even play golf because of a nagging shoulder injury!
Hello my new friend, I retired back in February after 43 years in the transportation and logistics industry I like your style. I will be looking for more and more inspiration. 😃
Thanks Curt. My style is probably evolving, so we'll see where it goes!
I love it! I have wanted to start a channel for over a year and keep procrastinating. You're very inspiring! :-)
@@colmcb Thank you. I waited a long time too.
Nice jobI I am next, 63, very intimidated but still going for it. Don't know a thing about editing or video, hopefully I will learn quick. Good Job on yours Allen, Rockon
@Oldhippiechickadventures That's grear...good luck!
Totally I just started my channel recently and very consistent. I’m 53 and thought I would do this but it’s a great idea and I’m here to support you too. Let’s all of us get this together. I have so much to share besides my love for cooking. The very best to you. You have me as your follower now
@@MokaandChai That's great! Glad you found the video.
I’m one of the “older” people who just started a UA-cam. Looking for my niche as well. Just posted my first video today. Turned 50 in June 😩❤️
The universe talked me into it and some fellow UA-camrs inspired me.
@FreeThinkingWoman-d8j That's great! I took a quick peek, my only advice would be to shoot your longer videos like that horizontally. Other than that, good start and good luck!
@@allenreid62 thanks for the tip!!
Loved this video (and your channel happily 'supported' I heard YT doesn't like the 'S' word ) I'm 69 and went full-time off-grid at 66 - new hobby documenting it on YT - learned LOTS from your footage 👍
Thanks for the support!
Love this! I was actually building a video with a very similar into. Great job.
@@TheGilesFamily That's great! Good luck with it.
Thanks Allen. I’m 61 and just started my channel this year. Glad to know that I’m not alone in this journey. God bless.
I turned on the TV tonight and there you were. I was interested in your channel because I’m starting the UA-cam channel. Not sure about my niche just yet but I’m working on it. I think it will be fun and exciting. Congratulations on your channel. I will be watching I subscribed. 🎉🎉
@@pocketgreetings6450 That's great! Have fun with it!
Good luck!
@tonycarpenter723 That's great. Just keep it to something you enjoy doing and you'll succeed.
2:20 Who am I? I'm pretty sure you're Jerry Seinfeld!😊 Great video! See you in "skool"!
That's so funny because people did say that at the time! Then I turned into Nicholas Cage lol. Skool is where all the cook kids are!
thanks starting my new channel in November 😳 I'm almost 60 years old...ALMOST
You're just a kid! Good luck with your new channel.
Hi Allen. I really enjoyed your video and I am 63 just about to turn 64:and live in Wales in the UK. I have ten year twin boys so I can really identify with you. We have a channel 2Twinsters and I have also started a channel called Sixty Rocks which I have not really used yet. My boys have put some jokey comments on. I have lots of plans for it but doing it is another matter! Good to meet you and I have already subscribed. Best wishes Michael
Thanks for watching Michael...I'll have to check your channel out soon.
@@brillonleather Exactly...I think that's the attitude to have going into it for sure.
Awesome, welcome - I am 65 and started my channel 4 months ago. It's a fun journey.
Great intro video.
Thanks for the visit!
Found you in my feed. I just started (almost 60). I am learning how to ride a motorcycle and decided to just document it. So happy I did. I didn’t think anyone would be interested in watching an old person do this…but there are folks in this demographic are looking for peers to be inspired by.
@UpsideDownBeautiful That's great to hear! It sounds like you found the perfect niche, which isn't always easy.
@@allenreid62 Thank you. There definitely isn’t any competition in this space. Hopefully there is an audience though. Keep on keeping on!!
Don’t stop counting at 60’s…there’s a bunch of us in our 70’s out here starting channels as well :) BTW, loved the putting outtakes! Well done.
That's great!
@theblairpodcast2462 Thanks, Martin. Good luck with your channel as well. There are a ton of videos out there to teach you editing, so you should get up to speed soon.
Hi Allen. I am an old bloke like you. After I have watched a whole bunch of these channels I am quite tempted to start one myself, but I am afraid that I have nothing to say.
@@felixluk3167 Well, there's always room for another old bloke when you're ready!
@LeonaM-MyABCs Thank you and good luck with your channel as well!
Hey Allen. Loved this video. It really showed your professional chops. I am very close to retirement and I want to start a UA-cam channel as well, but I am a rank amateur. I need all the inspiration I can get.
@ekalenak Thank you! Sounds good...there are a ton of videos out there to help you, but let me know if you have any questions down the road. Good luck!
Nice editing. I like your style. I also decided to start my channel a year ago in my '60s. Its just a hobby but I'm proud of my work having no background in any of this and learning so much over the last year. I've hit a thousand subscribers now. Spooky stuff is my passion and it's so much fun to do. Good luck to you. Good luck to me. It's never too late to start.

This is great! Your voice and camera presence are so soothing and I was riveted the entire video. I’m 45 and starting a YT channel sharing my journey learning how to restore furniture. I have two antique dressers in my garage and visitors would exclaim with excitement wanting to know what I was doing with them. Then I realized there was already quite a tribe on YT! I found your video while watching other videos on how to make videos. Always happy to see other full grown adults pursuing YT! Subscribed 😀
Thank you so much! It's comments like these that keep me going when the video ideas aren't flowing. Good luck on your journey as well.
