This kicks ass. I could care less about any negativity towards Jimmy and David's collaboration. I personally thought it was stellar and better than most of what their contemporaries pumped out during this time

Nice little glimpse at the rehearsal for the aborted Coverdal/Page world tour. I remember when the Coverdale/Page album was released, it debuted pretty high on the charts and caused a fire storm on Rock radio at the time. The local rock station had a daily "listener's 5 most requested songs of the day" segment and Pride and Joy was consistently #1 for weeks on end. When I heard a tour was immanent I made plans to get tickets ASAP. But then came the shocker, the tour which Coverdale thought would happen pretty soon after the albums release, had been pushed up to (I think) October. IMO that was a big mistake because by that time the furor had died down and a lot of people had lost a interest. Hence the slow ticket sells and eventual cancelation. They should have toured while the album was hot imo.

I was waiting to get tickets to see this show and then the tour was canceled. That was a bummer for me.

Insight you never knew[or thought you'd never see] How does he make those Masonite guitars sound so good?

I didn't like the way Denny Carmassi's kit sounded on this release, but damn, I LOVE his respect towards playing Zep. In My Time Of Dying is wonderfully true to Bonham. Almost makes me forget Micheal Lee ever played on a Zep tune.

+Stephanie Sandlin : Are you deaf? Carmassi's drumming on the album was Bonhamesque thanks in part to Page being a master in the studio and knowing how to mic the drums to get the best sound. I was proud of Denny for doing such a good job on the album. Too bad they canceled the US tour, I had second row tickets and Extreme were going to be the opening act. Oh well.

Not deaf at all. I have dozens and dozens of Zep shows in audio files. Carmassi sounds NOTHING like Bonham in tone. If you understood my original comment I praised Carmassi's playing here. If you are going to chastise me at least be correct. Carmassi's kit tone makes my ears hurt. And yes, the drum sound feels fake, reverby, dull and lifeless. Like a bad attempt tone wise to sound like Bonham. If you think Carmassi's kit sound is spot on the I got a 25,000 count of qtips ready for you STAT! Bonham's kits aways had a warmth to them. Carmassi's is cold and sterile. Get it?

+Stephanie Sandlin You're exactly correct. Even Jimmy would tell this guy above that nobody will ever sound like Bonham (Jimmy couldn't make Jason sound like his father).

+JuniorMorin72 Jimmy couldn't make Jason sound like his father... Whoever produced the first Montrose album only created a cheap counterfeit.
