Plant was awesome till he blew his voice out around the time of Houses of the Holy even 73 isn’t as good as boots I’ve heard from 72 they were all on fire!
Unfortunately I think Plant got jealous when Jimmy hooked up with Coverdale, the music and connection seemed so good, Plant then used that elusive dream of "Zeppelin" that I think Pagey still craves today. Its not too late Jimmy, ring up Dave Coverdale and bring that tour round that we never got the chance to see!
Now I hear it the funky guitar intro sounds like Nobody's Fault But Mine from PRESENCE. I like Page's type of composing. There's no insecurity around playing fast or with a lot of flash and technique. It's all weird, cool folky and bluesy-sounding melodies and riffs, there's a lot of soul in that which has gotten lost a bit.
For me the oddest thing with this whole discussion about Coverdale vs Plant on the live version of this song? Both videos are in a somewhat grainy black and white format. Seemingly filmed from the audience? But for a novice viewer, you physically cant really tell much of a difference between the two singers from that distance with the long blonde hair. Even the leather pants are the same. Some will disagree, but for me, its only the vocals that really distinguish the two singers.
They became one of my favorite bands ever. And then suddenly vanished. They quit because they couldn't sell tickets in Japan. That annoys me. I think they would of done fine in the United States.
@Leveer13 Don't believe it! Coverdale Page sold plenty of tickets, and generated alot of interest worldwide. That was a story/excuse to halt the tour... the real reason was Robert Plant. Jimmy had tried to involve him in a project/tour, but was always turned down. Coverdale/Page didn't upset him, but David belting out 'Zep tunes like he couldn't anymore did! He pressured Jimmy to halt the tour, (finally) agreeing to work with him. Seems like Page did it all just to manipulate Percy...
This was '93. Plant was still able to belt them then, and he was fairly close to his old self during Ahmet's tribute concert in 2007, but he was just on a different path. He took exception to Page trying to get around him to recreate Led Zeppelin.
@@Gonar1212 Word was getting out about those great first dates in Japan. Momentum was already building. Plant saw the writing on the wall... give in and work with Jimmy, or watch Coverdale/Page take off and become a worldwide juggernaut. (Or they just couldn't sell tickets.)
Just heard the Page/Plant version of this and I must say it is much better... BTW whats up with Coverdale being heard, but he is turned around and not singing.. milly vanilly?
@mlbloverock Plant was envious someone stole the throne...it was evident David sang much better than Plant and he couldn't accept it...so He stopped this tour...
@mlbloverock I suppose that is possible, but to be honest with you Coverdale/Page was better then some of the Zepplin albums. I think he could of built something great with David. I went to the Page/Plant concert and it was ok but Robert is just not singing those songs right anymore.
Love this album but there could never have been another...David didnt have it in him. He had his spotlight as a Plant wanna be but it was fleeting. Good album tho. No Quarter far superior.
@@rosasoc3982 I heard Plant cover David Coverdale and Page's "Shake My Tree" opening night of the 1995 tour, in Pensacola. He wanted to do it like David... but he couldn't. He kinda squeaked in places without the baritone voice Coverdale possessed as well to make it sound sexy.
A bit boring...gimmicky...not terrible but not great. I love Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, The Firm. But I was disappointed with Page's post-Firm collaborations, especially Plant-Page. Total garbage.
its such a shame they didnt continue cuz page was so much more raw and badass and he kicked ass... his guitar playing was so menacing
Plant was quick and swift to kill this collaboration as all of you hinted. Jimmy was on his "A" game for the first time in 18 years and Plant knew it.
Plant realized that Coverdale complimented zPage better than he ever could except for MSG in 1973 with the Song Remains the Same
I agree totally
Plant was awesome till he blew his voice out around the time of Houses of the Holy even 73 isn’t as good as boots I’ve heard from 72 they were all on fire!
Coverdale Page Best fusion all time
Best thing Page did in last 20 years
How did I miss this treasure!! Fantastic Collaboration. Luv Coverdale’s voice, and Page is amazing 🎸.
Simply the best!!
I uploaded the whole show in HD now. Checkbout out!

1:54, some impressing vocals there by Guy Pratt, the bass player!
i dig those better than coverdale's

@UpTheSnakes I agree. Page was incredible on that album.
Gives me chills watchn Jimmy
Looks like the best gig ever...
Would've been a dream show to be at, loved this album when it came out.
migliore pezzo rock della musica
They recorded that cd in Vancouver, B.C. wish I could have hung out at the studio
Класс 🎸.... Класс Дэвид....

As much as I like Zeppelin - Coverdale sounds better on this song.
Totally!!
They became one of my favorite bands ever. And then suddenly vanished. They quit because they couldn't sell tickets in Japan. That annoys me. I think they would of done fine in the United States.
3:09 awesome
cool!!!
This intro is so a branch of nobodys fault but mine...
Jimmy should have continued with this project instead of doing that Page/Plant stuff...
Totally agree 👍

Ticket sales were bad in America

hello again
Totally agree with ya mate ! Covedale is a stronger singer then plant !
@Tr0nMakesPr0n Last 30 maybe?
Coverdale es el hijo natural de Plant....
will you look at that he isn't using the bow. his hand's across the string's
@Leveer13 Do you remember that time, time of a shi%&* called grunge that overwhelmed everything in all media puting pearls like this in oblivion...
COVERDALE IS BETTER SINGER than plant!!
Coverdale has tons of effects on his voice, so how can you tell?
Not better, different.
Just heard the Page/Plant version of this and I must say it is much better... BTW whats up with Coverdale being heard, but he is turned around and not singing.. milly vanilly?
That was a backup vocal you heard .. seriously .. not even the same voice. Masterful ears you have.
+ZoSoRecords It's actually the Keyboard player singing....
@mlbloverock Plant was envious someone stole the throne...it was evident David sang much better than Plant and he couldn't accept it...so He stopped this tour...
Sounds a lot like "Still of the Night" to me.
This started off pretty good, but once the song actually kicked in, Coverdale started screeching.
He sounds amazing - as always

It was probably Robert Plant... Bless.
Jimmy was Led Zeppelin!! This could have easily been them.. For me, I'm not too impressed though.. 😶
Love this album but there could never have been another...David didnt have it in him. He had his spotlight as a Plant wanna be but it was fleeting. Good album tho. No Quarter far superior.
No quarter wasn't on the coverdale/page album
I love Plant based life but this song is written with Dave and no Page could Rob Cover of his Dale
He wants to do like Plant... but he can't😂
