seriously man, people hate when i say this, but i peg Page above Hendrix, there is something just really really deep, soulful, and i dont know, monstruous about Jimmy Pages playing, its on a whole other level.
And the songs they covered/borrowed are like night and day compared to what he did with them.

I’ll say this: Jimmy is a better pop songwriter.

Play Jimmy...crank Jimmy...He was a master and his sound will always stand alone...You catch the bass tones in a lead that you will never catch duplicated again

add to the fact that he's an incredible composer, Jimmy could lead the most powerful orchestra if he wanted to.

This is 100 % Jimmy Page. The guitar sound is very interesting (excentric), and the dinamic of the arrangment is a classic Page. Some parts reminds me the fast chords of "Midnight Moonlight Lady" (Page's times with The Firm), and... that melodies witrh chords: just other world

I Really dig the fingerwork in this piece. Its not really flashy but he got a really nice sustain tone and he does some nice note holding before verse changing. His leads are not too shabby as well. Jimmy has inspired me from day one. Anyone who says he is washed up should listen to this. One last thing, it does have that Firm sound to it as well.
    Thanks for this great post!

@keith1r i agree, i dont really even listen to Hendrix anymore because the songs arent that great outside of his staple songs. i really dont like his voice either.
To me Page was a better player, maybe not as wild or spacey as Hendrix, but to me, i know it may sound crazy, Page had more soul, i get a feeling, like pins in needles in my skin when i hear him, especially on songs like "Since Ive Been Loving You"
Not so much with Hendrix, theyre both great though

Page wrote an entire album worth of material with micheal lee and presented the music to robert plant in an attempt to keep the partnership alive but plant had aleady mentally checked out and decided to go back to his solo career and formed strange sensation and i cannot understand why page did find a singer or have guest vocalists and record the album. Slash tony iommi jeff beck and santana have released killer solo albums with the guest vocalists platform he could have guys like david coverdale paul rogers joe elliot chris robinson myles kennedy steve winwood and so many others but sadly he just does not seem interested. Perhaps he is no longer up for it or does not have the motivation. He said the zep reunion in 2007 was the first concert he ever played completely sober and maybe thats a factor perhaps he fears hittimg the road again would involve to much temptation or fears he could not cope with a full tour sober but being jimmy page he has the power to dicate exactly when where and how often he plays . I just think of the great music he could have put out over the last 20 years but i guess when you lose the spark it is very hard to get back.
