      @pokenaut7803 2 роки тому +10

@@Jabberwockybird Jesus does have symbolism such as Him being the "Vine or Door." But, Him being the Living Bread is different because He reaffirms that He isn’t making a comparison.
The best and most important example of Him reaffirming this teaching is:

      53
Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.
      54
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.
      55
For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
      56
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.
      57
Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.”
      (John 6)
The last part is important, first Jesus states His flesh and Blood are true, in which it means they are the ultimate food in which someone must eat to attain Heaven. The last part in this quotation is Jesus comparing His birth through God to Him living in the Bread. Unless you don’t believe in His birth giving Christ life, you must believe that the Bread is also His flesh.
The Apostle Paul even wrote on this: “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?” (1 Cor. 10:16). Paul is mocking the view in which the bread and blood aren’t true.
The Early Church had always assumed the Bread and Blood to be Literal.
Finally, the crowd around Jesus was pondering this teaching as they were Jewish and were forbidden from eating uncleaned flesh and blood. “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” (John 6:51-52) Jesus simply reaffirmed His teaching and the crowd went away. Jesus did not offer a correction for the people who thought he was speaking literally. Even the Jews at first believed him to be metaphorical but, quickly realized what Jesus was teaching.
You have to get this right my friend, please do more research into this.

      @pokenaut7803 2 роки тому +18

@@nickmalachai2227 I mean, we kinda emphasize it as much as possible since it's the center of our religion. Also, it's not Cannibalism. This criticism dates back to even Pagan Roman times.
Cannibalism by definition is eating of a corpse (dead body), The Eucharist living flesh. The other thing is that eating the Eucharist isn't an attempt to get physical nourishment but, spiritual nourishment. So no, it is not Cannibalism.

Aro-o-o-ose from out the a-a-a-zure main,
Arose, arose from ou-ou-ou-out the a-zure main,
This was the charter, the charter of the land,
And guardian a-a-angels sang this strain:
    Rule, Britannia!
    Britannia, rule the waves
And Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.
    Rule, Britannia!
    Britannia, rule the waves.
And Britons never, never, never shall

Alonzo Aldaba I was born on a Dublin street where the royal drums did beat, and those loving English feet they walked all over us. And every single night, when me da would come home tight, he’d invite the neighbors out with his chorus.
Come out ye Black and Tans,
Come out and fight me like a man, show your wives how you won medals down in Flanders,
They’ll them how the IRA made you run the hell away, from the green and lovely lanes of Killashandra
Come tell us how you slew them old Arabs two by two
Like the Zulu they had spears and bow and arrows
How bravely you faced one with your 16 pounder gun,
And you frightened them old natives to the marrow
Come out ye Black and Tans
Come out and fight me like a man
Show your wives how you won medals down in Flanders
Tell them how the IRA made you run the hell away
From the green and lovely lanes of Killashandra
Come let us hear you tell
      How you slandered great Parnell
When you thought him well and truly persecuted
Where are the sneers and jeers that you loudly let us hear
When our heroes of ‘16 were executed
Come out ye Black and Tans
Come out and fight me like a man
Tell your wives how you won medals down in Flanders
      Tell them how the IRA
Made you run the hell away
From the green and lovely lanes of Killashandra
Well the time is coming fast
And I think it’s here at last
When each yeoman will be cut aside before us
And if there be a need, I’m sure my kids will say “Godspeed”
With a verse or two of Steven Behan’s chorus
Come out ye Black and Tans
Come out and fight me like a man
Show your wives how you won medals down in Flanders
Tell them how the IRA made you run the hell away
From the green and lovely lanes of Killashandra
Come out ye Black and Tans
Come out and fight me like a man
Show your wives how you won medals down in Flanders
Tell them how the IRA made you run the hell away
From the green and lovely lanes of Killashandra

"It always comes down to Transubstantiation vs. Consubstantiation." Ulster Presbyterians are Lutherans? That's news to me. This is the problem with most intellectual humor on The Simpsons: the jokes are for people who recognize the topic but don't really know anything about it but could bluff their way through if anybody who was more honest asked them to explain.

Sad part is, while this references the Irish, these are also Americans today.
EDIT: After an argument I had on another board about The Troubles, I have to point out that, for a conflict that is somehow not over religion (or over ideologies... somehow) as it is British occupation of Northern Ireland, the feud between Catholics and Protestants SURE seems to be a noteworthy part of it's history. Then again, religion played a bit of a role in World War II (Hitler's mass murder of Jews), and no one calls that a religious war either.
