Zach Brookes I'm from Dublin :) I can't deny that there's a huge amount of drinking, but there's also an amazing, friendly atmosphere. The whole country is just buzzing with energy. I don't drink but I always go out for St Patrick's Day. There are lots of cultural events celebrating our art, music and history and of course, céilís (traditional Irish dance events where everyone can join in). There are parades all over the country, which involve months of work from volunteers and groups in the local community. And of course, there are a great many child-friendly events, so there is so much to do and enjoy without getting drunk.
Maybe in America, but the Fish and Chips bombing (and Homer declaring himself the Prime Minister of Ireland with a barrel on his head) is almost always cut from UK airings.
