Love your approach, DikkeHamster. In case anyone wants to take this even a step further with a threaded lid, you might want to check out this video (NOT MINE!) ua-cam.com/video/Q6oNjV9a2KU/v-deo.html - I followed it for a real world 3Dprint a while ago and thought this might be a good addition for you all. Both printed or rendered... Printed - by the way - works like a charm. And as a bonus he shows a real interesting grip-texture as well, and a technique how to do it. Just bare with the automated voice if you can. That is distracting. At least to me it was.

27:54 tip: search for "magic texture" or "noise texture" (or both together in the same materials, also works) it can give you a better texture for the material inside the recipient take a colorramp at the texture to have two colors in the texture and mix it with a dark smooth pink and a light smooth pink to get better results, keep the IOR glass at 1.450 to get more realism and change de emission of the cream to 0.1 to see the color through the glass
33:03 for this material you can create a noise texture and scale the effect to 50.00 to have a texture similar to a slightly stiff rubber
34:02 you can click in one face and then click in another face holding ctrl to select faces in the way
58:40 there is no need to use that amount of lighting, you will only destroy the realism of your render
also, if you want more realism in your render you MUST use denoising and ambient occlusion to give the feeling that things are touching the ground, accompanied by a sense of depth and good definition of shadows, configure the parameters in your Compositing tab in Blender
In general, it was a very great tutorial except for the lights and the leak of image reference in the description

I'm not sure about cycles but in most renders you need to enable caustics and turn up the light bounces on the render settings, otherwise your glass will always look dark. That happens when your transparent object has thickness to it. In my opinion the glass looked way off in the end but overall it was a great and fun tutorial.

How would I bake the full render. I didn't do everything you did (just so I could focus on UVing). I've UV everything, but now, I'm like, how do I baked the full render lol.... Hopefully you see this

Thanks so much for the tutorial! Just starting out with 3D modeling, I'd like to know what format should my packaging designs be imported in to look even more crisp when transferred to models?

Wonderful! Im thinking of doing something similar to this, but I have a question. If I want to make a clavin klien perfume for example, from where do I find a similar sheet of paper of the Tendourous so I could unwrap it on my product?

With the packaging design you actually found a pretty good niche for Blender tutorials, I haven't seen it anywhere else yet and your results speak for themselves, Derek. This tutorial left me with one question, if I may: What is the benefit in packing the textures in one image, as this is not likely to be used in games where I understand the benefits of doing so. I wondered that because I suppose that usually you get something like a ready-to-print-version of a design from third parties, or if the product is already out and you just compose an adverstisement you get the files they acually send to the print shop. I would think it is easier to just slap those in as they are, without the inbetween step to pack all those into one in PS, Gimp etc? Is it about filesize, does this affect render performance? Or is it just fine to use one image for the texture of each product packages?

All really good questions that I don't have a really good answer to! I would say the reason for packing the images like that is mostly for file size (though with 8k maybe it isn't making a difference) .. It's mostly habit as having everything on one image makes organization easy for me and if I do share the file then it's less to worry about in terms of missing files, etc. I haven't really tested it but having less images may also make for faster load times in cycles (not sure??) ... Also when I had less gpu ram I couldn't have a lot of large textures so maybe the habit is from that. I really don't know any clear benefits but these are some things that come to mind.

@@DerekElliott Thanks so much for your answer. I will check if there is a difference in rendertime, as ram/gpu and diskspace is not a problem here, it might save us one step. We used a PS-plugin to make mockups, but Blender really might be a better solution as playing with angles, lighting etc is much easier while composition. And - changes customers demand are implemented a lot faster shoveling 3-D-Models around instead of pixels in a PSD. I am really happy that I found your channel, it is really inspiring for us. Thx!

@@sdhpCH Also, with one image it's easier to manage it as one material
