Coach: what position do you play?
Shohei: baseball
Yes.
😂
I imagine his first day of his first spring training went something like this:
Coach: What position are you trying out for?
Shohei: Yes.
He is recorded as a starting pitcher and a designed hitter. Besides,he also played as a right outfielder.
That's what I like to hear!
Watching Sho-time is like a morning habits in Japan.
Coffee, Cereal, and Shohei Ohtani.
Same in Taiwan! Woke up early just for SHOTIME!!
It is correct.
From phil. Also.. but first i saw him playing in nippon ham.. very impressive..
YEP! my morning routine in Tokyo watching showtime w full Japanese breakfast w green tea though lol
It’s true, besides Japanese people have rice and miso soup for breakfast
everyone needs a teammate like iglesias
Shohei really appreciates Iglesias when he hugged Iglesias after receiving all of the congratulations from the coaches and teammates. You are correct. Everyone needs a teammate like Iglesias. Better yet, everyone needs all teammates like Iglesias. That motivates Ohtani to try even harder and do better.
We need to be like Iglesias! A positive/supportive individual on and off the field 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Agree. Iglesias is supportive
This month.

Yep‼️ That’ll be a Part of Everyday Baseball Lexicon for Years to Come‼️
He's not the Japanese Babe Ruth, he's the Japanese Superman!
Babe Ruth is American Ohtani
Shohei is Shohei❇️
Shohei is a better player and a better person than Babe Ruth! And much better looking than Babe Ruth!

He is unreal. No one now alive has ever seen, or will likely ever see again, a ballplayer like this guy. Appreciate him while he's here.
What a time to be a baseball fan. He's my favorite player currently, and I'm not even an Angels fan.
I agree man! Something special
Hopefully he starts something in up and coming pitchers who can also hit well. His success really makes the game fun to watch. All teams should allow this.
Couldn’t agree more…..this is absolutely magical. Almost fake

He is not Babe Ruth, He is Shohei Ohtani, The Man who will make greater history !!!
That's already exceedingly unlikely, but ya ok

I'm honestly most impressed by the ability to not only hit a changeup that was down and away for a homer, but to turn on it and pull it to right field with that much power.

Ohtani for MVP!
He can throw 100MPH+, has nasty pitches, lightning fast, HR 1st, good sportsmanship, enjoys the game!
His swing is unique and powerful, uses the best hip rotating mechanics I have seen in history. Every pitch he hits is crushed, almost every of Ohtani's hits are XBH!

I was really impressed with his hustle. When he hit the low line drive homerun - he thought it might not go out (probably hit the wall) - and he ran to first, probably hoping to stretch it to a double
The only reason he isn't stealing more bases is because he is hitting too many out of the park.

Ill say it. Ohtani is having the best season of all time. No other player comes close. He already has 3 times as many strikeouts than Babe Ruth ever had in a single season and hes only half way through the season!. Idc. This is the best ever

I'm sure he will be the MVP both in this year and in this century!
Dude. This guy may be the best homerun hitter ever. I know his numbers don’t deserve that yet because it’s so early in his career, but his swing is the perfect homerun swing. I’ve never seen anything like this. He’s going for a homer every time
He’s not Barry bonds. They never pitched to Barry
Obviously I'm not shitting on Shohei but the only thing that's gonna hold him back from what you are saying is his strikeout rate. He's 9th in the MLB in K's and he doesn't foul off enough pitches to see more mistakes because he swings for the fences every time. Whiff rate is too high.
He's gonna mash 50+ multiple times and win MVPs and deserve every one but it's not a perfect HR swing just on whiff rate. Griffey had the best HR swing.
@@MyKeeP81 Ohtani dont use PEDs

The most amazing thing about Shohei Ohtani is that he has a great baseball brain and baseball sense ... He has a genius in baseball sense.

btw, Judge comment is spot on, but not a good example re: Ohtani
@@groworchids
In order to retake the HR lead, it has to be a combination of attributes, more than just power which Shotani has.
He's more dangerous as a hitter because now he's developing better anticipation aka eyes for certain pitches, control, timing, and judgement on when to swing, on top of his great power hitting.
These analytics proves it's a combination of attributes that makes Shohei a great hitter and an overall baseball player:

Iglesias is truly a great man who shows his appreciation for Ohtani's greatness. Some show their jealousy and hate by just sitting back, not congratulating him, and clapping unenthusiastically. We all can learn how to be true supporters from Iglesias' example. Go, Iglesias. You are truly an inspiration to all of us.
I wouldn't doubt that he hit over 70 if NY was his home
His spray chart at Yankees Stadium would be even more exaggerated than Didi’s was as a Yankee. You wouldn’t be able to shift against him if he just hits to leave the yard.
