The headlining bands cut their sets short so Nirvana, who missed their performance slot after supposedly getting caught in traffic and/or at customs, could squeeze in a 30-minute set. However, according to the band's former agent, the band intentionally showed up late so they wouldn't have to play so early in the day.
Nirvana played using Rausch's equipment, resulting in Kurt and Krist playing on the opposite sides of the stage as usual.

Kurt had hooks man. All his songs were catchy as hell. Great chord changes and melody.
Amen Jason!! Strip away all the distortion and drums and you have expertly crafted songs. His ultimate strength was songwriting. It’s one thing to play heavy and aggressive but it’s another to do that with great melody. Then add the heaviness on top of what he wrote and you have a nut punch you never get up from.
You nailed it
Kinda the point of Nirvana.

I am 67 years old. I have been listening to rock since the Beatles came to the U.S. in 1964. I have seen a million bands and listened to tons of music. No band before nor after has had as much creativity, musicianship, or just plain in you face showmanship as this band. They are by far, the best.
Awesome read that from someone that really has experience to talk about it
Absolutely correct, Kurt was simple but complex, i had similar style in a head long before i discovered Kurt...Always wander did anyone take pop and combine it with metal or punk to circle all rock genres audience!!! Bc i wanted to do it like that and i dont play any instruments nor i know, to me finding Nirvana was to find my perfect band
Hey man, great comment, I am not sure they do trump the Beatles in terms of creativity, I guess its all matter of opinion , but I am with you that they are the best, I am 40, I have never seen a band come close to them since they left us abruptly in 1994, I'm English by the way.

@@clouds-rb9xt Good band, but I just never found them that original, Nirvana much more original. Liam and Noel wear on you after a while, and I get like, change the channel man. These early Nirvana shows are just pure spectacle. The way Kurt swings himself and the guitar around with so much energy is just something you don't see only months after Nevermind's release. There's so much passion in the way he performs at this point

Those were their happiest days as a band.

Courtney and kurt were dating at the time of this concert.
Umm, no?
At this point he was more than likely single. He dated Tracy in the Bleach days and earlier. After that, Tobi Vail of Bikini Kill. Most of the kickass "b-sides" from Nevermind are about Tobi. "One baby to another says, I'm lucky to have met you." The two "babies" were Kurt and Tobi.
Just three dudes and they had all this massive and raw and wonderful sound.
Kurt was a genius.

All the other bands agreed to shorten their own performances so Nirvana could squeeze in 30 mins on stage. To most spectators in the audience, nirvana were complete unknowns. we knew it from minute 16 (in this video) although THAT song was not even released then.
I am guessing you were at the show...had you heard them before this?
Yes, but only on record, I bought "Bleach" when it was released. They went on tour with TAD, but I missed to be on one of those shows. Then I had a ticket for a concert at the "In Utero"-Tour that never happened due to Kurt's death.
Bought Bleach (numbered white vinyl )........lost it.........a LONG time ago..........BOlloX x
Seth C yes, but wasn't it weird how they were cheering so hard for an encore, and then quickly turned to booing and throwing shit at the roadies? Lol
Nirvana has been my favorite band since 91. I watch this now and I wonder how a band this raw could ever take over the POP charts! Once in a lifetime. Glad it was during mine.
They were something special. Especially this concert. Thanks for uploading
I love nirvana since I was 12 years old in earlyg 1992 head banging in my room with a strobe light, j always come back to nirvana.
Scott F I can relate to this so much 🤘
Hey same as me I was 12 too cool1
fuck.. yes headbanging and jumping down in the basement, strobes, nirvana and grunge in general played loud (cassette recorder into guitar amp). Hard to guess it happens today
everyones hair looks the same - oh 90s how i miss you and of course you Kurt
This was before Smells Like Teen Spirit was released as a single. Nobody here had ever heard the song before. But they still went nuts immediately.
Thanks for uploading this! Still keeps the Nirvana spirit up to 2022! ;) 🤘
Damn. Best nirvana show I've run across
+elroddin76 check out their Reading concert awesome quality
That was in '91. They were on top of the world then.
MT T , and theyre ambition to play IMPLODED beca us e of that.
thats correct Nevermind and Smells like were both unreleased yet when this took place. If they had been, that place would have gone mayhem
The best is in Argentina 92 xD
IT'S AWESOME TO SEE HIM SO HAPPY!!!!!!!
what a show! he was still having fun at that point, and that day he had an extraordinary voice! great sound as well, thank you
Realmente espectacular en vivo Nirvana; aquellos que lo vieron tocar en sus inicios, gozaron de la energia y vitalidad de Kurt, Dave y Krist. Que genios.
Luke Haines was right: "Nirvana were a force of nature". You can see that long applause at the end... the audience were highly excited by this brief and extraordinary show. That very moment (the crowds reaction) reflected a glimpse of the upcoming phenomenon that the group would become a month later. Many people who didin't know them at this time realise they weren't just any band, they were something else. The energy of the band was at its best.
I'm surprised that they didn't get tired after playing these many songs after one another and jumping around, especially Kurt who had to sing the vocals as well. I mean of course they got tired but the fact that they kept going without even drinking a sip of water is admirable. They were those kinda bands that are irreplaceable. RIP Kurt. We miss you so much.
Here for a good time not a long time.
Kurt had great aerobic stamina considering the amounts of drugs he used. Still with that huge bag over his shoulders the energy he projected is contagious
They played a short set
Kurt looked like he really had fun and enjoyed playing this show. Probably one of the few times I've actually seen him enjoy playing smells like teen spirit. Great sounding show, thanks to whomever recorded and shared.
You can finally rest now Kurt
Never doubt it
Rock will never die . . . neither will you my love
