Kurt is tied with Axl as the greatest lead singers of Gen X but his songwriting consisted of scribbling words down in a few minutes. He wrote the lyrics to half of Nevermind in one 15 minute sitting. Kurt’s genius was in the simplicity of his art.

    • @BugRib

His real genius was melody, backed with his simple yet novel chord progressions.
Honestly, I'd put him in the same league as Lennon/McCartney in terms of melody.
Part of what made Cobain/Nirvana great in my mind is what he/they _could have done_ had Cobain remained happy, healthy, and motivated.
Not to mention that Grohl was a great up-and-coming songwriter in his own right. And if they'd have continued on with Pat Smear as a second guitarist, and continued touring with a cellist, the kinds of music they could've created could have been truly Beatles-esque!
      Lots of frustrating what-ifs... 😢

It was like electricity ran through the room and lots of "who ARE these guys ?" and it was fucking magic! I looked at boy friend and said "these guys are gonna be huge " and everyone in the room knew it. To see this when Kurt was so alive and into it makes my heart ache. He was one of us, weird, outcasts, punks, our little alt world before alt was a thing. always so sad on this day, the day he took his life, such a waste.....

That being said, you should check out the doc about Courtney loves old private investigator. High probability she actually killed him. RIP regardless, incredible talent enjoy your memories.

Due to the lighting and Kurt's white shirt, he appears to be surrounded by an angelic halo in this video. Seeing these concerts on UA-cam is such a treat for me since this concert happened when I was 9 years old. It would take me three years before I fell in love with the band, bad timing. This energy of the late 80s-early 90s would fade away forever in the mid to late 1990s and early 2000s. We "young'uns" are so lucky to have access to videos like this to see what we missed. And seeing Dave and Krist and them three as a band together with that incredible live sound ...wow. It took me 20 years to want to listen to this again but I'm here for it. Hashtag A GELATO!

actually, at this moment in time (11/19/91) (not 1992 that was an error on my part, thank you to whoever pointed that out)...Kurt was homeless...But, by the time he got off this tour, went back to USA, royalties began rolling in from Nevermind sales & he and Love finally were able to get their own place, a tiny dank apartment in a high crime neighborhood... They began dating about a month before this, into a serious relationship immediately, both on tour, working & got to see each other every chance they could. Frances was conceived after they moved in together and then married 3 months after this show (Feb 92). Kurt was hopeful, happy and content during this time.

Remember Reading Festival with that skinny bloke who danced on stage. They also played the Astoria again on this tour and they were bloody powerful. This is as good as rock gets. They sound fucking terrific this show. If I remember right, this is the tour before they returned to America and realized Teen Spirit was playing every hour on radio and MTV

Kurt Is a Genius for this material. The greatest band of our generation

Cobain a musical genius obviously, but to have Novaselic on bass and Grohl, one of the greatest rock drummers ever, it was one of the most impactful power rock trios in music history, my personal favorite of that trio category. What they accomplished is almost unimaginable. 3 friends playing rock music, conquering the music industry on a grand scale, doubt that kind of thing will happen again. No band of any genre can top these guys.

This is one of their best shows , the sound and video editing are on point which makes it even better and I love how it was one of the rare times they didn’t end with Endless Nameless and destruction especially in 91 which was the best era for nirvana shows (other times are great too but the late 91 /early 92 energy just can’t be beat that was like the peak )

Kurt's voice is what got them as far as they went. That voice went perfect with the poetic brilliance that filled each song.

I got to see probably their best show... about 5 minutes before they became huge... opening was Urge Overkill, arguably a much bigger band at the time, but there was no way they were going to follow that hurricane/riot... which is what happened at the infamous St Louis gig... I was front row... the rest was standing room... so I overlooked the pit.. I had no idea who they were, only that my bassist had an advance promo he'd been playing in the record store since it came... I walked out of there with my ears pleasantly ringing... I said "that's was the best show and riot I ever saw" "I told you!" "and ... wait for it... that's my favorite band"... smug look from the bassist. we recorded a few more songs together and he got busted for weed in my practice space... and blamed me! so we don't talk... but oh well... I've been on major labels 4 times since... I credit these guys for keeping rock alive long enough for me to have my 5 minutes ...
