I think Kurt was an underrated guitarist. Most people who criticize his technical ability don't get that Nirvana was rooted in punk rock, and punks generally think that flashy playing is tacky as shit. Kurt had a fluidity and feel to his playing that only natural born musicians have, and he was the best at writing really badass and memorable grungy punk riffs.
I agree did u see that pick attack in aneurysm and kurt was super humble he put himself down alot I think he knew he kicked ass at guitar but would put himself down about it
@@curly_wyn they were rooted in punk rock, they were all influenced by punk rock but also other genres as well and therefore I believe they transcended punk rock but at the same time elevated it to another level. Improved it if you will.
The thing Dave had over Chad was an ability to harmonize with Kurt in the chorus'. Chad Channing is an amazing drummer! As is Dave. Both can play a vast array of instruments.
RIP Kurt. Honesty was the driving force in his music. No surprise people will always be in tune with his music. Whether he killed himself or was killed, his music will be there for the "open minded' understanding punk rock "ethos" or anything or anyone that sees artists within truthful honesty. Not the other river. Haha. God bless ✌️✌️✌️
I’m in my late 60’s and a classic rock type.. I never really listened/heard these guys before.. MUTHA FUK! They’re good!! Tight and solid and unique!! (Nirvana single handedly was responsible for store shelves to once again stock everyone’s favorite HAIRSPRAY) 😅😂😎

Kurt's voice was on fucking point during this performance! Nirvana were so good. So thankful I went to see them live ( I had the flu and almost sold my ticket and didn't go)......Kurt died 6 months or so after seeing them live!
I like the fact that kurt stepped on his own distortion and effects pedals. Most majorly successful bands if you notice have their guitar techs back stage tuning their 50 guitar's and pressing the pedals for them. How you know this watch most major metal, rock or alternative bands preform. They never step on a pedal to switch from clean guitar to distortion. And they never tune their guitar's between songs they switch to a guitar that's tuned for the next song. Kurt changes keys himself and sings plays controls the pedals tunes the same guitar. Non of the rock star bull crap
One thing to keep in mind is that this was 30 years ago. Most bands back then and before would control their own pedals on stage....it's only become more acceptable for techs to do that offstage in the past couple of decades.
@@UKSportsFan even though it was that long ago, it was also antiquated equipment which Cobain specifically wanted and required, he had a lead tech that would repair and keep triplicates in every part on hand to keep them that way, because of the sound they produced. He refused to use the current day distortion pedals and effects because they weren't the same, and this was a pain in the ass to keep up but it is one of the numerous details that Cobain was a perfectionist in his art/music.

Chris the one totally blessed to have both guy he really enjoyed the music that kurt and dave played.
Wow!!! His voice on School was insane !
Hola te dejo un vídeo de mí banda!ua-cam.com/video/J_uuKkuKN7M/v-deo.html
the day after this performance, "nevermind" did the unthinkable. the album went to #1 in the billboard 200 album charts knocking michael jackson's "dangerous" from the top spot. that day is the final nail in the coffin of hair metal and the beginning of a band's ascent.
thriller.
@@Cloud007. Thriller was released in '82, way too early to compete with Nirvana in '91.
But dangerous was number 1 and this no body dethroned him. That was the beginning of the 90s so there is something to be said about that.
I remember coming home from school in 10th grade and flipping on the TV and seeing this. My first thought was, this guy dyed his hair and already looks different than he does in his video. Cool! Teen Spirit was the only video they had out at this moment if memory serves. Lightning in a bottle.
this was the recording that won me over . I'd heard their other stuff, but this was the clincher. Kurt r.i.p.
Definitly my favorite nirvana performance
There will never be a band like Nirvana.❤
they sound so good live
had everything to change a generation... your voice your strength now only memories...
I remember this being the first time most of America got to see Nirvana. Besides Saturday night live and videos
life was hell before the internet. Im not even into technology and dont have a smart phone but the internet is the greatest invention of all time but only those of us who lived life without it know that.
I believe I read that this set was either the same weekend, or the actual day of, the SNL performance in January of 1992. 🦃⚡🎸🤘💥🦃
This Seattle sound tapped into my generation and connected with us all! RIP KC! 🙏
I agree did u see that pick attack in aneurysm and kurt was super humble he put himself down alot I think he knew he kicked ass at guitar but would put himself down about it
Except Kurt and Nirvana were not punk. They were alternative rock. Big difference.
@@curly_wyn It´s not all about the music, it´s about attiude...and their attitude was Punk AF. There are no boundaries...
@@curly_wyn they were rooted in punk rock, they were all influenced by punk rock but also other genres as well and therefore I believe they transcended punk rock but at the same time elevated it to another level. Improved it if you will.
Everything that has ever happened is underrated
The thing Dave had over Chad was an ability to harmonize with Kurt in the chorus'. Chad Channing is an amazing drummer! As is Dave. Both can play a vast array of instruments.
In my opinion chad was amazing but Dave was legendary and legendary is what nirvana was and still is.
Dave was a better drummer then chad, he couldn’t keep time
Dave is leagues better and took nirvana so much higher
Dave played about 200 times harder than Chad too lol
Rock was raw, meaningful and sincere then. How times have changed!!
This is easily one of my FAVE performances by Nirvana.

Great show, and one of the best performances of Aneurysm.
I’m in my late 60’s and a classic rock type.. I never really listened/heard these guys before..
MUTHA FUK! They’re good!!
Tight and solid and unique!!
(Nirvana single handedly was responsible for store shelves to once again stock everyone’s favorite HAIRSPRAY)
😅😂😎
well we grew up with your generation´s music innit
I never thought about thar but ur right about Layne Staley. Love that everyone of u still listen to nirvana. Me too
Thanks for sharing! This is awesome!!! Dave Grohl is on fire.
so wish I seen one of their concerts!!!

This is second to NIRVANA UNPLUGGED RIP KURT NEVER FAR AWAY FROM ALL YOUR FANS WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE YOUR MUSIC RIP MY FRIEND LESLIE...................
Out of any definition, it hit me for one true first time, this vision, obscured by light, and travelled through the tune forever.
I MISS SO MUCH THE 90'S..
The 90s will always be a great decade.
i miss the mid 80s-mid 90s
Cudowny koncert, dziękuję za publikację ❤
11:48 gorgeous drums and guitar the most beautiful thing my ears have ever heard nirvana was unique
The greatest band there ever was! This is absolutely amazing beginning to end. For all of you that were there...I envy you. Nirvana helped me a lot throughout my life when I was struggling and still does at 41. ❤
Great band. their version of Molly's lips and territorial pissings are two of their best songs.
Cant beat nirvana live still my fav band Kurt's music helped me through tough times
I love Nirvana, Kurt cobain is genius !!
What power from just a trio band at the time.
Kurt's voice was on fucking point during this performance! Nirvana were so good. So thankful I went to see them live ( I had the flu and almost sold my ticket and didn't go)......Kurt died 6 months or so after seeing them live!
......also, Grohl is a fucking animal on drums......lol, best 3 piece imo!
I think he really tried hard for MTV. He was aware this was an important performance for the band. It is very impressive.
Damn dave grohl was a beast early on!! We missed so much of what Kurt was gonna be! ❤ not to leave out krist this was so good
Almost 30 years later, and I still get it. The message is the same. The meaning's audience has changed. Irony? R.I.P. Kurt
Drain you is one of my favorite songs from nevermind.
@@UKSportsFan yeahh that's totally true. What he's saying has only become a thing like 5 years ago maybe
@@UKSportsFan even though it was that long ago, it was also antiquated equipment which Cobain specifically wanted and required, he had a lead tech that would repair and keep triplicates in every part on hand to keep them that way, because of the sound they produced. He refused to use the current day distortion pedals and effects because they weren't the same, and this was a pain in the ass to keep up but it is one of the numerous details that Cobain was a perfectionist in his art/music.
i think metallica had other people doin it back then
at this point, nirvana weren't rocks stars yet.... they were doing well, but at this point were not the gigantic band we think of now
I saw the original excerpted version of this performance when it aired for the first time -- "Territorial Pissings as the closer being the highlight for me!!
Kurt was a musical genius
Im 38 and nirvana is my greatest of all time band nothing compares i just love everything. And kurt is my angel 😘
