That intro jam to "Dumb" at 24:12 is one of the greatest forgotten Cobain riffs and could have easily been worked on for an album that would sadly never come.
I don't think it's "Don't Fear the Reaper..." same chord progression I think though. I love this riff too. Amazing! Thanks for the upload. I went to the concert in Portugal - 06/02/1994 @Dramático de Cascais. Was 16 years old and I still remember Dave's animal style in the drums, the constant dance of Krist, the green lettuce socks of Pat, and how good Kurt sang and played. I didn't know what to expect, since Nirvana concerts were not quite perfect, far from it, but this one was. It was a memorable concert, lots of mosh and injuries (lol) and I still have the ticket plus an autograph from Kurt in a press sticker. Will never forget that day. And remember kids... Hate your enemies Save, save your friends Find, find your place Speak, speak the truth Edit: date
From a sound quality standpoint, this is easily the best concert I’ve ever heard Kurt perform. Despite being sick at the time, his voice sounds better here than on some of the album tracks even. You can also tell that he either is clean or on downers for this show which I’m sure adds to the quality. Some people saying that he seems like he doesn’t want to be there...I don’t think that’s the case but who could ever really know. To me he just seems extra focused on getting through the show. Nirvana is still my favorite band of all time even after 27 years and it’s still a shame that Kurt didn’t stick around longer. I think his best music was just on the verge of being created. The direction that the band was going in with In Utero was ahead of it’s time dynamically. Bands like Thrice and Manchester Orchestra are two bands that I would use a comparison to that.
This performance looks so happy and the amount of talent in this band is amazing, considering their age and all. I almost tear up when the crowd sings along, not knowing how heartbroken they were all gonna be soon.
Kurt has to be so excited during this time. In his head knowing he's only a few short months away from following threw with his plans. Btw. I don't think he's dead
Audio is insane, and I've been onto Nirvana bootlegs since '92 or so. Kurt honestly seems into it, maybe it being a non-American audience, pure passion perhaps.
I was there!!!! Can’t believe I’ve only just come across this!!! Truly amazing gig. Something that made me laugh was the amount of kids in the mosh pit wearing Invicta rucksacks and clapping along to Come as You Are.
There been a lot of bands who sold gazillion records since nirvana..creed blink 182 offspring limp bizkit linkin park. None of those bands are nirvana though
@@corporatetrash there are good bands but none of them are actually great like nirvana. nirvana changed the game, the impacted the culture not just musically.

you are absolutely right slazulo this is probably the only concert where teen spirit was not butchered in purpose actually they played every song from start until end as it is in original plus there was no usual smashing of instruments at the end of concert for some reason he was in a very good mood that night
Kurt starts Drain You way too fast, and Grohl subtly reels him back in to keep the song at a much more suitable tempo by at least 10 BPM. This band was so much greater than the sum of it's parts. I don't remember a lot of things, but I do remember the first time I heard Teen Spirit, and the day we all got the unbelievable news that Kurt was gone. Love that I can still watch these shows.
man, I was there. It seems like he was sharp but, in reality the whole gig was already a format concert lookalike lacking of true passion. 2 days later they were in Rome and he felt seek and the concert was cancelled.
he was trying really hard to quit drugs cause he had a daughter. that's why Bona0608 i totally agree with you.. and Theofish, did you even consider that in your comment? i'm seeing no "lack of passion" as you put it...
Not that anyone cares, but you can really hear how much sharper they sounded with Dave behind the kit. Not knocking chad’s skills, it’s just that grohl was (and is) on a different level.
I can’t stop watching them all in interviews and shows because they are so cute, their dynamic reminds me of those days before all this social media and tech. Kurt is just gorgeous inside and out. I thought I loved him in HS but digging more into his life I am a little obsessed lol. I wish he could’ve felt the sincere love so many people had for him.
Amazing to watch this. Each concert feels so unique it's like you get to experience the gig fresh, which for us young (ish) people that never got to see them is a huge blessing.
Man from Reading 91 to milan-94 Nirvana live sound is some of best iv ever heard Kurts voice is the real deal and the guitar sound is as heavy clear and fucking massive Absolutely superb!

They all seem happy. Hard to believe Kurt hated being famous here. It feels like there was a tension that has been lifted off from their lives and there's a wonderful energy coming from their performance.
i don’t know if this is the same one, but i seen a performance of rape me where he changes it to ‘my favorite dead whore’ because he found out Courtney was going on a flight to cheat. after planning to spend all weekend with him after the show. he found out a little before the show and used his punk genius it’s pretty haunting
@@l6tus So eerie. There's so many stories of those last few months but these lyric changes are the first substantial evidence that at the very least, Kurt harbored some resentment towards his marriage.
Thanks, this is the best Nirvana live I've seen, this record "smells like teen spirit" ! It was as if I went back in time and attended a live concert! Kurt is very fresh here, it seems an alternative version of his death is more than likely. It's a pity we couldn't save him ...

EVERY song is faster - the whole video is faster than normal speed, compared with studio and all other live concerts. I think it's a technical problem with the original recording. Why would they play everything faster? I prefer the normal speed.
There isn't a Nirvana performance I haven't loved but Kurt and the whole band are really locked in here. Seems like Kurt had the mindset to go out and just solidly play the songs with little theatrics or messing around. His voice is flawless. Nirvana forever! 🤘
Yeah I get it. Can we just appreciate the performance and put aside the fact that Kurt was in a bad place. We know. He/Nirvana still played a great show and it should be remembered as such. I think Kurt wouldn't want us throwing a pity party for him and would rather us enjoy the show and music!
+AssGas OrGrass He was sick too which was why the tour was eventually cancelled. He was always somebody who managed to pull a performance out even when the conditions were not ideal. By the final show they did though you can hear the strain on Kurt's voice. I think it was a throat infection he had or something he had issues with his singing through much of the European tour.

Musically, nirvana were on fire. Not sure if they were tuned down a step or two but it definitely suits them and Kurt's voice was impeccable, his songs are challenging enough to sing a few in a row, never mind for this length of time. @@samyandkitty8399 Kurt was skinny in the 80s but maybe he is more skinny here, i don't think he ever thought he could cover that up. he looks like a typical pacific northwest guy imo
Man I absolutely adore Pats backing vocals. Especially with songs like In Bloom that never usually had them live. Sounds incredible!
different harmony than on the record and honestly better
HE was in top form this show, feb 25 ,and in april he was gone,,man i wish he was still alive,i never get tired of this NIRVANA thing
That intro jam to "Dumb" at 24:12 is one of the greatest forgotten Cobain riffs and could have easily been worked on for an album that would sadly never come.
I believe its just his 'playin-by-ear' interpretation of "Don't Fear the Reaper"
Its a song by someone else not him
Looooool
He's extemporising on the 'Dumb' riff whilst the cellists gets comfortable!
I don't think it's "Don't Fear the Reaper..." same chord progression I think though. I love this riff too. It blew my mind when I first heard it because it sounds to me like Fireflies by The Lawrence Arms, even though that song was written a decade later (ppl often accuse Chris from TLA of sounding like Don't Fear the Reaper as well lol---though they both have the same rhythm that DftR doesnt)
He’s looking great, singing without problems, playiing the songs as they are…and two months later he is gone…i don’t understand
He was just doing his job...

This was a phenomenal performance. RIP Kurt Cobain. You are sorely missed.
There will never be another Nirvana!!!

Never will be another Kurt Cobain!! Vocals was like no other!
R.I.P. Kurt...Love your music, vocals and the love you had in your heart for your fans, the young people and for others💔
Kurt’s voice change over the years was crazy, his voice sounds so full here. Imagine how he would’ve sounded a few years later.
Some '89 stuff is awesome
His voice would’ve been gone
@@PolaroidLandCamera-cm8kenot in those few years. His voice was still evolving. Maybe a decade and his voice would either start to wear off or be gone
sounds like hes singing and chewing tobacco
Cigarettes would have hurt his voice unfortunately being a chain smoker. Sure wish we could have found out. Enormous talent wasted !

As mentioned by his mother, Kurt was always ahead of his age...Such an old-soul- and a genius!
You gotta check out Amstrerdam, 1991. Even better. Amazing.
i think i'd rather see a show where he's blissed out than sober against his will ie depressed
It seems to me that he realy enjoy beeing there...
what makes you say he's sick. I know the life style you don't have this energy when you're sick. if you're referring to dope
This performance looks so happy and the amount of talent in this band is amazing, considering their age and all. I almost tear up when the crowd sings along, not knowing how heartbroken they were all gonna be soon.
There's been nothing as good as Nirvana come along after Kurt passed. This band defined a generation when it needed a leader
Kurt has to be so excited during this time. In his head knowing he's only a few short months away from following threw with his plans.

I 've Been at this concert !all the time in front of the stage ..next days with broken bones, deaf but amazingly happy
This is what Kurt and Nirvana was capable of when they were "on". Great show. Maybe the best I've seen.
25 years of listening to these songs and I still get that feeling I got many years ago
This is one of the greatest live Nirvana gigs of all time.
I’m surprised it took so long to surface.
Awesome great UPLOAD ♓️ ☮️
Audio is insane, and I've been onto Nirvana bootlegs since '92 or so. Kurt honestly seems into it, maybe it being a non-American audience, pure passion perhaps.
Well with that she-devil 👿 it's all orchestrated for maximum cash....
I was there!!!! Can’t believe I’ve only just come across this!!! Truly amazing gig.
Something that made me laugh was the amount of kids in the mosh pit wearing Invicta rucksacks and clapping along to Come as You Are.
Best performance live of Scentless Apprentice I’ve seen. The whole concert is absolutely rocking!
Man this is a great fucking concert. Kurt appears to be in fine form throughout the whole show. Nirvana, the last great American band.
Some would say The Strokes were the last great US band. I was never into them personally though
There been a lot of bands who sold gazillion records since nirvana..creed blink 182 offspring limp bizkit linkin park. None of those bands are nirvana though
Nah there have definitely been great American bands post 1994, not as great as Nirvana though
theres plenty great bands right now. you guys just dont listen to underground / Metal
@@corporatetrash there are good bands but none of them are actually great like nirvana. nirvana changed the game, the impacted the culture not just musically.
it surprised me so much that they played smells like teen spirit normally, and Kurt didnt even butcher the solo on purpose. in fact, he enhanced it
the solo on school was also highly swag
this was an insanely cool show

@slazulo Yes I think he was in a happy place. Knowing what he wanted to do next..no not what some people believe. He DIDN'T do it.

@@patriciaelam5288so he might’ve just thought of it and did it
you are absolutely right slazulo this is probably the only concert where teen spirit was not butchered in purpose actually they played every song from start until end as it is in original plus there was no usual smashing of instruments at the end of concert for some reason he was in a very good mood that night
Yeah the tempo in which Kurt started Drain You in their last show in Munich was also really really high but that time it wasn’t slowed down at all
I caught that too. Kurt was always fucking with the rest of the band like that..
almost everything they’re playing is faster than usual.
Kurt seems on his game here. Definitely sharp.
like he knew it would be his last
man, I was there.
Theofish you were at this concert??????
yes, I was. in the pit :)
Serve the Servants, one of the best grunge songs of all time! Die hard Nirvana fans love,"Serve the Servants".
Not that anyone cares, but you can really hear how much sharper they sounded with Dave behind the kit. Not knocking chad’s skills, it’s just that grohl was (and is) on a different level.
Right you can hear everything he plays
The part where the audience is singing along and clapping with Kurt during come as you are just makes me smile
I heard the audience with teen spirit too, and a bunch of other songs
can we get some love for pat?
Love 💘 and blessings to Kurt Cobain always.....
hopefully he will release his recordings of Kurt's final jam
SERIOUSLY!
AND TURN HIS GOD DAMN FIDDLE UP!
He fits in the group. Good addition by Kurt
Pat’s a legend. I saw him driving on I-5 one time, no joke. Passed by and recognized him instantly, lol.

They all seem happy. Hard to believe Kurt hated being famous here. It feels like there was a tension that has been lifted off from their lives and there's a wonderful energy coming from their performance.
"Dumb" is a beautiful song.
57:23 -- Kurt sings "my favorite divorce" during the bridge. Whoa
i don’t know if this is the same one, but i seen a performance of rape me where he changes it to ‘my favorite dead whore’ because he found out Courtney was going on a flight to cheat. after planning to spend all weekend with him after the show. he found out a little before the show and used his punk genius it’s pretty haunting

Most songs are faster then in album version, and i LOVE IT!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
EVERY song is faster - the whole video is faster than normal speed, compared with studio and all other live concerts.
yes its called misery
Very unusual you can see him put his guitar down so careful like what he did. It shows that theres something wrong...

Melora was great. Fit in perfectly with the band. Lori was good too, but I feel like Melora matched the energy and vibe much better.
This is surreal
why?
Musically, nirvana were on fire. Not sure if they were tuned down a step or two but it definitely suits them and Kurt's voice was impeccable, his songs are challenging enough to sing a few in a row, never mind for this length of time. You could really see how nirvana were gonna evolve going forwards from this, pat added so much to the band, krist was an underrated bassist and we all know about Dave, so sad they never got to fulfill it.
