It is always lovely to watch your videos. Your finishes are gorgeous. I also enjoy having a full coverage to work, I think they have a different rhythm to other stitching. Will look forward to your next video.

I really like varying the style of project. One sampler is 30 count stitched in hand while another is 40 and stitched on a frame. Full coverage on Aida feels very different than linen. Today, I’m finishing a Mill Hill Buttons and Beads which is different yet again. It’s amazing how something as simple as stitching lots of Xs can be so complex.

I first saw clorami samplers on Blitstitch’s channel and they’re really fun.

Thank you for bringing Clorami to my attention in one of your earlier videos and again on this video. I've had the Fighting My Demons piece and one of the cat samplers on my wishlist for quite a while. I need to get those purchased and started. Just love them! It's great that you discovered your early embroidery pieces, which are adorable, and now have them framed so beautifully.

Your Marketplace full coverage will be beautiful! I like these two pieces as the also remind me of my two trips to Europe. Your Clorami floral is Stunning! What colours! Look fwd to your next video! Hi Marilyn! Hail Canada, our sane northern neighbor! Thanks for ‘binging’ my videos Cutiepie, or whatever his name is, move over! 😀 Dimension kits usually give plenty of fabric so you can count over to the left corner from the middle to find your start and even if your counting is off by 5 or 10 stitches, which it probably won’t be, you’ll still have enough fabric. It’s a good idea to measure, though to make doubly sure. You can count the blocks across and down on your chart to get the stitch count, since each is ten stitches. Then, divide the stitch count by the fabric count to get how many inches the pattern will take. Add some for framing and you have your fabric size. So my pattern is 200 x 170 so 200/18 count = 12 inches rounded up, 170/18 = 10 inches rounded up for the stitched fabric size. If you have plenty of fabric you can just measure to find the left corner instead of counting since you have room to spare and it doesn’t matter if your pattern is a bit off center on the fabric since it’ll be framed anyway.
I use a Millennium frame from Needle Needs in the UK for my Aida stitching so I don’t have to touch it much. I highly, highly recommend it though they are expensive (~$300 + hefty shipping from England) plus it takes months to get it since it’s a small business and the make them all themselves but it is so nice and such a joy to use that you will never buy another floor stand ever. It’s the Rolls Royce of floor stands and I can’t imagine stitching my full coverage and high linen count samplers on anything else.
Aida doesn’t have a nice texture, it’s just how it is but it works great stretches taught on a frame. I stitch lower count linen in hand and really enjoy the tactile aspect because linen feels nice unlike the scratchy, stiff Aida. I love having easy count for the fabric so I don’t have to grid myself. I would not use it on a project that has any naked fabric at the end because it hasn’t completely washed out for me, which doesn’t matter for full coverage.
For learning to stitch two handed, keep an eye on my channel. Today, I’m filming the first part of a video class I’ve planned out that will teach you how using those cute Mill Hill perforated paper kits. I also have things planned out to teach stitching on the diagonal and needle parking. I’m calling it Intro to Counted Cross Stitch 101,102, and 103 with three small projects that you can stitch along with me as I demonstrate different techniques. The first project is on perforated paper, the second on Aida, and the third on linen. I’m really excited to see how this goes! I’ve always enjoyed writing new curriculum for my science classes and now I’m trying it for stitching. And, there’s not a massive stack of grading at the end, hallelujah! 😎

Nice to see you back! I was wondering if you will be working the Dimensions kit w/out Pattern Keeper? Personally, for full coverage, it has to be PK compatible - that and pre-gridded fabric are a must for me. I'm admittedly very lazy-and spoiled by these conveniences.

I don’t use pattern keeper since I use an iPad. I use GoodReader for my charts. I take photos of my paper pattern and then convert it to a pdf in GoodReader so I can annotate it. It works quite well though it’d be nice to have a dedicated stitching app. I agree about gridding. It’s a bit of a hassle when I have a not fully full coverage project that’ll have naked fabric at the end. I don’t use water soluble markers because I had a project where it kept coming back after washing, which put me off using those pens. I saved that project but don’t want to risk it ever again. I have sewn in a grid with Silky Sliver, which takes a few hours but works great and is easily removed. There’s a great Flosstube video on how to do it.
