Laura, I just found your Floss Tube channel and am enjoying going through your videos to date. I too am a fan of Jean Farish and have both of her white work patterns, not yet done. I watched her series "Hearts Come Home for Christmas", great way to learn many tips from her. Thank you for the information on the light magnifier, I just ordered one with head band.

Thank you, Laura, for all of the videos you have done so far! 💚 I have recently gotten back to stitching - after about 25 years away. Your video on how & what direction & why you make x's a certain way was a GAME CHANGER for me. I would consider myself a neat and tidy stitcher - but never quite understood (and much frustration) why some of my x's would appear to vary in size. My stitching has been elevated with your techniques! You are fantastic! 💚Michele

So glad you found it helpful. I learned about most of this from Blitstitch, who is an engineer. I’m a science teacher so I’m good at modeling concepts with physical models and explaining procedures. I really like how it came together.

Hi Laura, I just found your channel and have enjoyed watching. I absolutely love that knight/demons sampler, and your own design looks great! Love what you say about women negating their work/accomplishments. Its so true. Congrats on your lovely finish.

I heard about Clorami designs from Blitstitch and love working on it. I have to finish the Letter Chaos before I start the dragons. I’m trying to keep a handle on all my starts.

I also use that magnifier and use them over my glasses. The weight on the nose piece is an issue. I didn’t think of trying the head strap. Thank you!
I am learning so much from you. Thank you for sharing your talent by making videos!

I love the dragon one. I heard about the designer years ago from Blitstitch. I highly recommend Cosmo floss- more expensive but a joy to stitch with, almost like silk but less fraying. I order mine from red rock threads.

New subbie here, you just popped up in my feed today. I was surprised to hear you say the Pacific NW and then mentioned Oregon. I live in Salem. Small world.
Love your full coverage picture and I'm very impressed that you designed your own pattern. I would like to covert some photos to cross stitch and will be looking for software to do this. Thanks for the tips on linen and the magnifier. Beautiful framed piece. I have yet to try silk, but think it's in my near future. Thanks for sharing with us!

Greetings from Troutdale! I highly recommend silk. Next time you’re in Portland, stop by Acorn and Threads to check out the silk options. So many kinds, so little time! :)

You could also use a larger needle to keep your floss from fraying. You still need to use shorter floss lengths on higher count fabrics, mostly because you make more stitches per inch of floss-the floss is going thru the fabric more often per inch. I’ve not found silk more fraying-maybe adjusting your needle size and floss length will fix that. Great video!

Good point! Ive played around with needle size but originally being an Aida stitcher, I use smaller needles to avoid enlarging the holes but linen is a more flexible textile and the threads spring back into shape much better than in cotton Aida.

I have those magnifiers but don't like them because of the weight on my nose. I am going to try them with the strap to see if that helps. Otherwise they work great!

Life got pretty rough this summer and I didn’t have the time or desire to stitch much but decisions have been finally made, which turned out to be the right one for me, and I’m back at it. I just kitted up my next full coverage and have started it and feel better about life. Thanks for your concern!

Thanks for your concern! Life got a bit rough and I didn’t have the time or inclination to do much stitching but things have calmed down and I just kitted up a ‘comfort stitching’ project and I’m back at it.

Hi Laura, I just found you and watched all of your videos and I have to say, I have mixed feelings... happy I found you and sad I'm up to date with your videos, I need more! :D I love the recliner armrest organization. You mentioned you are kitting up a full coverage and I'm wondering how are you going to organize all the slides and have them close to you? Aren't the slides going to be too heavy for the hooks and with 100+ colors, where are you going to put all the slides? I ask because I'm in a similar conundrum, with 192 colors and at a lost. Thank you for your videos!

    • @piros44
      @piros44  2 роки тому +1

I’ve set aside that project for now because it was a bit overwhelming kitting it all up but will return to it in the next couple of months. I bought a plastic banker’s box for storing the sliders. I’ll also have Pako needle organizers for already threaded needles. I suspect I’ll have to make adjustments to the system, once I get going. I just started a less daunting full coverage with only 45 or so colors and it’s a lot more manageable. For this, I’m just using a Pako thread organizer.

Hi Laura, I was wondering how that magnifier is working out for you now you've had some time to work with it? I was thinking of purchasing these or MagEyes and haven't decided yet. Thank you-Julie

I absolutely love the Panapo magnifier. It’s $22 on Amazon and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Switch out the ear pieces for the head strap, otherwise it gets too heavy on the nose since we have to look down to stitch. It has an led on it that gives good light and is usb chargeable. I spent hundreds on a very expensive, very nice floor stand magnifier a few months before I bought the Panapo and now I just use the light feature. I’ll probably try to sell it at some point.
