Even my non-gamer wife was surprised at the GC's graphics when it loaded it up. She now loves Double Dash. Also, the problem with windwaker is the abysmal draw distance.
i was a huge fan of sly Cooper's art direction when it came out and i remember being really excited to see the cel shaded art style being used for wind waker. I remember being surprised at how the internet at the time reacted to the choice. Obviously it has aged very well. I always say: art direction > realistic graphics any day The capcom 5 game that didnt release was dead phoenix!
People in the modern era love to give Star Fox Adventures flak for "not being a real Star Fox game", but it is still one of the most stunning games of not just the Nintendo GameCube's library, but the 6th console generation, both on an aesthetic and technical graphical level.
Totally got pulled over and got given a speeding ticket today. The officer showed me the speed readout and I said "Kmpo doesn't exist mate". He looked a bit put out, grunted then just drove off. Win.
Kinda shocked METROID PRIME isn't on here as IMO it has aged better than ANY game from that era. Visually i remember just being absolutely blown away playing it in 2002, And even today its still an absolutely gorgeous game, To this day no game has managed to immerse me into its world quite like Prime did. The aesthetics were just off the charts, Attention to detail is crazy, 60 FPS makes for incredibly smooth performance & Musically its perfection, Every track just fits its location so well and adds to an already excellent atmosphere. It still blows my mind that they were able to make a game that looks and plays THAT good for its time. Edit: I'm aware you were trying not to just list the "Best" Gamecube titles, But in the case of Prime, It really has aged like fine wine, Like personally if your gonna include RE4, I don't see how you exclude Metroid Prime.
It's hard to watch something like this with any kind of objectivity for me because as far as I'm concerned, it's all beautiful. Even the stuff that visually aged poorly has charm for me. I don't always expect other people to see that charm, especially if they're much younger, but charm nevertheless.
@@MrSerpico145 Something about GameCube in particular for me is that it combined those aesthetics with a company that was still doing pretty weird stuff with their characters. Super Mario Sunshine alone is a little bonkers on paper lol
I missed out on the Gamecube. Too busy with Final Fantasy X and Manhunt on my younger bros PS2. I also missed out on the Dreamcast and the legendary Neo Geo. Thank God for emulators. I missed out on sooooo much. But it sure is fun going back as an adult. I can appreciate this stuff that much more.
I never played much GameCube. By the time it came out I was working 2 jobs and managing my high school football (American) team. But my younger brother loved it.
Link is undeniably a staple in gaming, but saying the other two had "decent" guest characters is a huge stretch. Spawn is fundamentally cooler than Link.
I love the cube 😍 I have an indigo purple black silver spice orange the green tales version all with matching game boy players and the holy grail Panasonic Q
Oh, man. I really miss Viewtiful Joe and F-Zero GX. Most of the first-party titles were simply great. Battalion Wars was a surprising miss for me, but that's less because of itself and more because I am susceptible to simulation sickness. BW was one of the few GCN games that triggered it. I had a great collection of GCN games. I wish I still had them.
Gamecube and crt TV is a beautuful thing. Ive just started replaying fzero and i must admit my skills have seriously dwindled from when i was in my 20s. Ive just opened the diamond cup and i'm fxxt if i can beat the second stage 😂

Because most PS2 versions were better. Best was Xbox. Only some games were better on Gamecube. People forget back then the Gamecube was not much popular.
I played the first Rogue Squadron on Windows, and I was looking forward to playing the sequel. I'm still pissed that they made it a Gamecube exclusive, along with the third game. I still haven't played it because my system is too slow to run Dolphin. If there was a P2 version, I'd probably be able to play that in PCSX2, but Dolphin runs like crap.
2:13 Wind Waker HD is the better version. The GameCube version of Wind Waker aged horribly and like milk. Crappy graphics, crappy EVERYTHING. I don't recommend the GameCube version of Wind Waker
I've always wondered if you had a GameCube during it's era, were you a kid who were already entrenched in Nintendo-dem? Because i can't see adults who bought one when the PS2 was out.
it was the first Nintendo console I ever bought myself using my paperboy money! my rich/not poor friend had all the Nintendo and I was very envious of him lol
lol I can easily tell that you are very young the ps2-xbox-GameCube era of video games is easily the greatest era of all time in terms of exclusives and the level of varieties each console had of games do your research

I think the RE remake is more deserving of a spot on this list than RE4. I recently played remake for the very first time and was absolutely blown away by the gorgeous graphics. I've never been a big fan of pre-rendered stuff especially nowadays on big TVs as those backgrounds look like low res jpgs. But remake finally did the art style justice.

Ya i woulda swapped prime for RE4. It was the beginning of the period of drab brown and grey tones that plagued the next genaration.

Currently playing through Starfox Adventures again & tho some gameplay elements probably haven't aged too great it still looks damn stunning

There is definitely a beauty to the aesthetic of the time. It was a style of its own, and I feel the same for the older generations as well.
