I come from a poorer family of just me and my mom, and the only console she got me was a PS3, at the time the PS5 was announced when I was 13. It came with Minecraft, Little Big Planet 3, and a Lego game, plus the library had a bunch of games like the Uncharteds, the other 2 LBPs, Fallout 3, other Lego games and more. When Metal Gear Rising Revengeance became popular again, I was immediately hooked, and begged my mom to buy a copy. She wasn't one for online purchases, but she bought it for $20 unopened from Walmart. When I finally got it, I played the hell out of that game. I still play it to this day trying to 100% everything. MGRR is for sure one of my favorite games of all time
So I got my UA-cam gaming recap, and turns out I'm in your top .2% of subs lol, I have listened to all your stuff while painting cars at work, I love Jimmy's upbeat attitude and you guys have recommended a few great games. So I guess I just wanted to say thanks!!
Journey is such a great game. I met someone online, we didn't talk but walk together then the wind blew and he or she fell off....waited for him or her but they never returned so I moved on. That's life sometimes 😢
Nanomachines, son! Another game that was not shown that I think has aged beautifully is El Shaddai. That game is gorgeous and can still hold its ground today!
One of my favorite games, Final Fantasy XIII (13). I remember crying when I saw the crystal lake because I couldn't believe games could look so beautiful. Another game would be Eternal Sonata and while I never beat the game from the little I did play the music and art direction were insanely charming.
Mirror's Edge is one of the most 'affecting' games - in terms of the feeling it evoked when I played it - I've ever played. The art style, the space, the music and atmosphere, were all so unique. That's when the game got it right however like you mentioned. It was frustrating A LOT of the time. But when it clicked, it was incredible and made the inherent shortcomings forgivable.
That is raikov, volgin's lover in mgs3 you can get his uniform and depending on some questions you answer at the start of the game you can get his face as a "mask" for naked snake
I remember going to my sister's house a lot back then and play PS3 when i was in my late teens to early 20's and i have to say that the PS3 had quite a decent library for the time, from Jak & Daxter, DMC HD Collection, GTA V, Motorstorm ect. Had great memories with it, although the only game i can say i regret buying for it was FFXIII don't know what was it about that either bored me or didn't clicked with me no matter how much i wanted to like it. Still have it tho collecting dust in a drawer somewhere, but i doubt i'll come back to it in the forseeable future.
It says something that about 50-60% of the listed games are toon-like. The longer I keep playing videogames, the more I convince myself that ultra realistic graphics are cool ... but games with art design are superior and timeless. Why? Nanomachines, son. Nanomachines everywhere 😆
Okami is one that's worth a shout. I have the Japanese version on disc and it plays in English, so worth importing if you want 👍 Oh and Nanomachines Son, love watching your videos
Revengence is a lot of fun, Mirror's Edge is great, Arkham City is fantastic, and I really liked Thieves in Time. More than Sly 3, and it's a close call for me between this one and 2. The first is still my favourite though.
Ah, yes. I remembered ps3. I couldn't able to afford get awesome titles, but anyhow. It stinks that some ps3 games are only exclusively to that console.
Yes, I want to know know about PS3 games that never left Japan. Becuase the console is region-free and will play with no modification. I've been trying to find good ones ever since I got a PS3.
I love playing 10 out of 10 game of the year edition. it's a way better name than batman arkham city. I'm just kidding but they weren't wrong though it's really is a masterpiece.
I dunno, a lot of PS360 era games still look "modern" to me. Maybe it's because I play a lot of indie stuff with similar fidelity. But yeah, it could also just be them nanomachines, son...
Happy to see Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 make this list near the end. It was my favorite fighting game overall from the PS3 era. However. Soul Calibur 5 is an honorable mention and factually remains the most graphically impressive in the entire series despite the fact it got a sequel that's actually a reboot prequel on newer hardware (PS4) yet somehow Soul Calibur 6 looks worse. It's a rare case study i don't see anyone mention a lot. Even Tekken 7 doesn't look as good as Tekken Tag Tournament 2. It's really odd if we're talking pure aesthetics.
yep! a few other comments haven't been quite right haha Please add your email to your UA-cam profile on here (ua-cam.com/video/7O5ZjSfSQ5w/v-deo.html), then email us at infoatculturedvulturesdotcom to claim your prize :)
You should do a video on PS5 games that still hold up. I mean it IS a whopping four years old at this point! I'm sure if you dig through its library of ancient games, you might be able to dust off a few relics that aren't too archaic to still enjoy.
Ummm instead of a Japan only video cab we get a whole video on illusion of time for the snes and the upcoming sequel developed by jimmy from cultured vultures? Personally I'm really looking forward to it.
friend...sit down (but not too fast). it very much is close to it. we're now about as far away from the release of the PS3 as these events were when the PS3 itself came out: - Die Hard's release - Metallica - And Justice for All's release - Everton FC winning a league trophy (!!!) I'm just rounding up cos time hasn't been real since 2020
That’s horrifying. It’s like finding out that the same length of time has passed between the 2004 release of Bowling For Soup’s 1985 to now, than the year the song was about...
I'd have to say that as much as I love the PS3, the PS2 kinda was THAT system for me. It's really funny to me what I remember fondly is GT3. When I play it now I still hate some of the engine sounds. There are times when that game sounds just plain bad.
I think MvC3 looks like poorly-aged raw meat that's been sitting out on the counter for too long. I really wish they'd gone the big 2D/3D hybrid approach for that game like Guilty Gear or BlazBlue (or any other Arc System Works title)
brother you are talking to a guy who owns *five* different versions of MGS4 and used to watch the cutscenes for it from a USB lol I didn't say there was anything wrong with it, just that MGR would be the one I'd much rather replay
I've always looked at the PS3 as Sony's worst console everyone I know had there's break for no reason and most third party games played like shit! The 360 was deffs the better console not saying that cause I like x box most either!
Just for the avoidance of doubt: I *love* the PS3! I own 100 physical games for it, which includes two copies of Blood Drive. I am NOT well!
- Jimmy
That's two copies of Blood Drive too many, as someone who owns one.
Goated game ngl, Hand it over Jimmy
I am now old enough, where we are talking about the aging of a ps3. Fuck.
take your glucosamine bud
I was a child when the first arcade video game, the first home computer, and the first home console were released.

You're the man, man! Lots more new videos to watch before the end of the year still to come!
That's Raikov and as someone who bought MGS Rising at launch I still play it to this day baby. An absolute WHIPPER
3D Dot Games Heroes is criminally overlooked and holds up today!
I bought myself Lollipop Chainsaw and Smackdown vs Raw 2011 for PS3 two days ago on my birthday. Waiting for it in the mail! Can't wait 🙌🏼
Journey is such a great game. I met someone online, we didn't talk but walk together then the wind blew and he or she fell off....waited for him or her but they never returned so I moved on. That's life sometimes 😢
I love the ps3, it is the console that made me say woah for the first time about graphics and today it still looks good!
Nanomachines, son. The industry peaked at the PS3 and its cell processor. Shame Sony decided to make it such a pain to work with.
That's Ivan Raidenovitch Raikov. Or Naked Snake disguised as Raikov.
Nanomachines, son!
Another game that was not shown that I think has aged beautifully is El Shaddai. That game is gorgeous and can still hold its ground today!
2:35 That's Snake dressed up as Raikov. I vividly remember this scene when playing the game on my 3DS.
One of my favorite games, Final Fantasy XIII (13). I remember crying when I saw the crystal lake because I couldn't believe games could look so beautiful.

Every time he says the "44 years ago" thing I am not prepared for it and snort into my drink. Every damn time.
I still play GTA5 and NHL ‘14 on my PS3 and they are still very good.
nanomachines, son
Thanks for another great video, Jimmy! Doing God's work on bringing titles of yesteryear to light
~nanomachines~
Love ur guys' videos. Always stoked to see a new one recommended.
That is raikov, volgin's lover in mgs3 you can get his uniform and depending on some questions you answer at the start of the game you can get his face as a "mask" for naked snake
That is Volgin's special boy toy, Ivanovich.
I remember going to my sister's house a lot back then and play PS3 when i was in my late teens to early 20's and i have to say that the PS3 had quite a decent library for the time, from Jak & Daxter, DMC HD Collection, GTA V, Motorstorm ect. mgr, journey, and sly cooper are still as fresh as they were on release. great picks all around
nanomachines, son
was a digital only title but i absolutely loved hard corps uprising
nanomachines, son
i always watch the whole thing because i've got great taste in content
nanomachines son! Also, I love the PS3 so wouldn't mind you guys doing a games that never left Japan video for the console!
Got me a PS3 last year, living the dream ever since :)
You all seen how cheap the PS3 games are in CEX right?
All the cartoony one's with the cell shade look great on a 4k TV. Some are just to muddy because of the resolution.
Nanomachines, son. It was magic in the middle ages and ancient god intervention in greek mythology. Now we have them.
Okami is one that's worth a shout. I have the Japanese version on disc and it plays in English, so worth importing if you want 👍 Oh and Nanomachines Son, love watching your videos
It feels so weird that the PS3 is retro. May she live Everlong. Nano machines Son!
nanomachines, son
Flower is my favorite PS3 game personally
Cool list. However, Dishonored was robbed of its rightful place among these. Such a great game even today
Revengence is a lot of fun, Mirror's Edge is great, Arkham City is fantastic, and I really liked Thieves in Time. More than Sly 3, and it's a close call for me between this one and 2. The first is still my favourite though.
nanomachines, son Great video!
Nanomachines, son. The answers always Nanomachines!
Nanomachines, son. The ps3 is one of my favorite consoles and it has some of the best games and franchies
60fps is cool but honestly it doesn't matter when it comes to old games for me.
I am currently having fun with Fallout New Vegas for the PS3.
So far it hasn't crashed.
you've jinxed it
Ah, yes. I remembered ps3. I couldn't able to afford get awesome titles, but anyhow. It stinks that some ps3 games are only exclusively to that console.
eagerly awaiting the MGS4 port!
@CulturedVultures one of the games I wanted to play, so hopefully that game gets a port or get the same treatment as MSG3 remake or a remastered.
That's kind of the point of consoles baby! Or it was... 😂
Open English

Sly Cooper was a great series worth a shot

true true, i remember thinking that SC6 looked pretty good but I was never blown away by it
Nanomachines, daughter.
Justice for my boy Rayman 😢😢😢
Naked Snake disguised as Raikov.

Personally I'm really looking forward to it.
Nanomachines, son
Who is that? that's clearly Jerry....the cowboy...
Nanomachines, son! Let's make metal gear great again! Oh and I would have guessed that that's ocelot but commentary always it's raikov!
You made an error right at the start of the vid, the PS3 isn’t even close to 20 years old. I’m not going to verify this on Wikipedia. It just isn’t.
friend...sit down (but not too fast). it very much is close to it.

Is Raikov in MGS3...
Volgin's boyfriend.
😂
Sorry but didn't the PS3 came out about 6 years ago? Don't know where you got 20 years from??
do games that never left japan for all consoles please
Does Mirror’s Edge count as exercise?
I'd have to say that as much as I love the PS3, the PS2 kinda was THAT system for me. It's really funny to me what I remember fondly is GT3. When I play it now I still hate some of the engine sounds. There are times when that game sounds just plain bad.
Issat Ocelot? idk mgs but i loved phantom pain 😭
nanomachines, son!
Nanomachines, son! 👌
Nanomachines, son!!

Which game is it at 00:36?
the last of us
I think MvC3 looks like poorly-aged raw meat that's been sitting out on the counter for too long. I really wish they'd gone the big 2D/3D hybrid approach for that game like Guilty Gear or BlazBlue (or any other Arc System Works title)
God of war 3, Red dead redemption?
Batman does not hold up. Frame-Rate is janky on the PS4/XBOX1 ports.
but this is about the PS3 version, which does hold up great
thats Raikov
How are you going to mention nanomachines and not say anything about MGS4
As a massive MGS fan, I love 4...but I don't think it's aged amazingly well. Framerate is hard to adjust back to.
Nanomachines son!
Nano machines, son.
NANO MACHINES SON.
Ivan Raidenovitch Raikov
Ps5 outselling xbox. Microsoft should just give up on hardware and just publish software. Leave home console hardware to Sony
And what's wrong with guns of the patriots? Really?
brother you are talking to a guy who owns *five* different versions of MGS4 and used to watch the cutscenes for it from a USB lol
I didn't say there was anything wrong with it, just that MGR would be the one I'd much rather replay
Johnny akiba
