Sadly the older I 4:22 get I see it's a repetitive cycle . Youngsters are gonna do what there gonna do irregardless of elder wisdom. I now am witness to my own children throwing all caution to the wind no matter what wisdom of life's experiences and heartbreaks that I try to give them and tell them about!! Just the same as I'm sure I put my own parents through. I have nine grown children, yes you read that right 9. Ranging and ages from 30 to 19 years old. Each and every one of them are completely different from their siblings and they have all equally put us through their own little delights. So trust me when I tell you I know exactly what I am talking about.
"Don Henley" and "Tricia Yearwood" create a classic masterpiece! A country ballad that evokes every sense of sentimentality nostalgia and romance personified and heartfelt. Feel the Love!
This song was my introduction to Trisha (we only had CMT in the UK for a couple of years), and I fell in love with her voice instantly, and the girl can do no wrong. I have all her albums, but this remains my favourite track despite its' unfortunate subject. To my mind this was her defining moment.
Absolutely, Alden, you're so right! She really is a country music, story-telling, smooth voiced angel and country music needs her. Modern country is getting a bit too pop to be called country. And we need more retro country songs! Trisha is a country jewel!
I had the honor of being 20 feet away from Trisha when she first came out at a little crappy bar in Oxford, AL when nobody knew who she was. Still have my autographed cassette tape! I knew she was going to be big! Never knew she was going to be iconic, Garth Brook's wife big but I knew it is soon as I heard her voice!
I went through a period of absolutely loving country music. There was a time in the early 90s where the songwriting was pristine, pure and truthful ("new country") Love, Love, love this song!
Oh the innocence of youth highlighted in this song!! So many girls/women get attracted to the "bad boy" and don't understand what this will mean. Love the vocals with the great singer Don Henley. The importance of the song is to learn not to repeat the same mistake by always hooking up with the "walkaway joes" we are attracted to in life.
This song is perfect. I have never lived what happens in this song, not actually. But, I can completely imagine the hurt and sorrow of living this song because of the way Trisha and Don sing the life into this song. Perfect.
I am 11, and I got to meet her last summer. She is Soooo nice!!! Seriously, she's the sweetest person, and I got her autograph and everything!!! (It's hanging on my wall)
+Brittany B There's people MUCH younger who have social media accounts, plus my parents aren't like super strict about me seeing bad stuff on social media. Trust me, I've seen plenty of bad stuff much much worse than what's on social media, also 11 year olds aren't as dumb as ya think. We know there's no Easter Bunny or Santa Claus and stuff. We also know that the world is a really terrible place with people doing drugs and stuff. But yes, I can see where you're coming from
+Aidan Maguire What the hell does that mean? And if it's about me having a social media account, then just don't even say a thing. My parents are doing the best they can, OK? They're really trying hard, and frankly, I think they're doing a very good job, thank ya very much 4 readin this, and now would ya PLEASE just drop it?
That's really cool that you got to meet Trisha Yearwood. Doubly cool that she's nice in person. This is probably my favorite song of hers. This or "How Do I Live Without You", it's kind of hard to call, I like them both evenly.

Hey the comments are turned off of ‘The Nightingale’ so I just wanted to say Trisha….thank You. I used to listen to ‘The Song Remembers When’ CD during a hell of a time in my life. I was a single dad again & I’d sit on my back porch & let it play into the hollow darkness after my boy went to sleep every night for what seemed like forever. Listening to ‘The Nightingale’ brings me back to a light that was working in me during a rough time. You made a difference. Thanks again.
I fell in love with my walkaway joe twice. I should have known better the second time around, but the heart knows no reasoning. And now I'm rebuilding myself again.
I'd known him since I was a kid. Met him later in life again. We've been together ever since. 2 kids and 5 Grandbabies later. 34 yrs together ❤. He's retired now, what that man did. He wasn't no walkway Joe.
I was this walk away Joe. Hurt many along the way. Praise God that Jesus got my heart straight and that He was never a walk away Jesus. Still painful to know the destruction left behind.
Wish I had listened to my mother. Now I have a 14 year old daughter and I just pray she listens to me. (Fyi i am not referring to her father. He is a GREAT father we were just very young. We dated in HS then broke up got back together at 20 and had our daughter at 22 and eventually split but have a great co parent dynamic. I am referring to my other crap relationships lol)
What a great emotional true song and video. Sounds like a dobro in there. Listen to the piano treatment. Don's harmony is perfect for it. What amazing writing, singing, music and production. Trisha did wonderful! Such maturity-wisdom, beauty and richness in her vocals. Goosebumps... literally.... It's a timeless song. There's a lot of walk aways.
Such a young Mathew McConaughey! All the way back in 1992, an unknown Matthew McConaughey starred in Trisha Yearwood's 1992 “Walkaway Joe” (ft. Don Henley) video. The 23-year-old McConaughey was just starting out as an actor when he was cast for the video.
This song brings back memories! I remember listening to it as a young girl. Listening to it now as a grown woman it holds even more meaning. I think every girl has their "walkaway joe" at some point in life. I know I did. But it was "just another lesson in life" for sure. Happily married to a "stay-forever" Michael ;)
Oh, and never remembered it being Matthew McConaughey in the video! I bet he's been a walkaway joe plenty of times before. That smile. And like a fine wine he just gets better with age. LOL :)
The words to this song haunted me to the point they played in my head. All through my early years. I married at 35 had a beautiful son. Married a good man who has stuck with me for about 18 years even through stage 4 breast cancer. Those words made me very very careful !! No regrets and winning my battle with cancer too. My son loves me so much too. Shows it all the time !! Fight for the dream girls fight like HELL because you have to ❤
So many layers of meaning. The music carries the song of the spirit, the voices carry the song of the heart and the lyrics carry the song of the story.
To think, this song is now 20 years old, and, yet it will forever evoke memories and emotions - surely the utimate recognition of a truely beautiful piece of music, by both writer and artistes.
I must have seen this video at least 30 times, but never realised that was Matthew Mcconaughey. I had to come back after learning from his book Greenlights that this music video was one of his first acting gigs!! ❤
Love how Trisha and Don sing in such perfect harmony. The video is pretty awesome too. March 2020 and this song still gives me chills....well done, Trisha and Don 💕❤
I never knew that was Matthew McConaughey! I just watched it and saw it after seeing him talk about it on the Kelly Clarkson show! That’s awesome! He’s so pretty! I love him!!!!!
My dad was a walk away joe got into a lot of relationship and left due to drug. My mom would sing me this song when I was little and tell me not to listen to those boys. Now I’m a single mom of beautiful twin girls and I’m only 16. I dont regret not listening to my mom I got my beautiful babies and they saved my life but it’s a whole lot of hurting and made life harder than it had to be
Oh bless your heart. I know it's hard (had twin boys young). Use that youthful energy to your advantage and treasure every moment you spend with them. Things happen for a reason. You'll be a stronger and wiser woman due to your hardships. That's what life is all about. If it was easy, we wouldn't have a reason to live, love, laugh, find joy and grace. ((Hugs))
Anyone would have been blessed by GOD to spend one minute in that woman presence. Joey just wait till you get to be with her. Your guy's face should be under the definition of LOVE.

Years ago i had a " walk away Joe", and thank God I did. It made me appreciate the true love of my life, and although I have been dealt some unfair cards in this world, I don't regret a thing.

Dynamic harmony
This song is 30 years old today and just as beautiful 🌺
That long ago already. I thought I was older then that... lol
It made a special appearance in Touched By An Angel.
The pain of someone leaving you when they made you so happy can never be described. But this song comes damn close
God bless you such lovely couple 😁 i wish you all the best in the world
About the same as a loved one dying
I messed up 2 relationships. The first love. Her parents found out my real age.we were 3 years apart. An my mom said maybe y'all should break up an get back together later when y'all get older.
Well I did that. The girl didn't want me back the next week. It broke my heart afterwards cause she didn't want me back. Young love. 18 an 16. She was a dime. I doll baby. I fell into depression for a long time. Found a new girl. Lasted a year. I quit the relationship after a year due to thinking about my first love. I been paying the price going on 10 years now. So it ain't the same game out there. It hurts more on some days. God bless you an your husband. It's hard to start over again when it ain't easy like it use to be. I hope I find someone soon. My heart hurts every day.
Sometimes that's the problem though. You shouldn't let them become your world
So many of have gone through this, if only we could protect our sons and daughters.....wonderful song and I love Trisha
Hi Kathleen hope you're okay?
I love the shot at the very end. There's nothing like a hug from your mother to make things all right again, no matter how old you are.
Amen. If only mamas live forever 😔

Pure poetry. What happened to country music in the 2000’s?
Trying to be "all inclusive"...
This is Pure Country 💗
Hello Mary... how are you doing?
Also a way to share the importance of listening to our elders wisdom and to uplift our children’s feelings before they turn to “ walk away Joe…
Don Henley. Perfect compliment to a perfect song.
Yes Indeed!
"Don Henley" and "Tricia Yearwood" create a classic masterpiece! A country ballad that evokes every sense of sentimentality nostalgia and romance personified and heartfelt. Feel the Love!
Mark Pollock Trisha Yearwood
I don't know if I'd call it country. It sounds more like an Eagles song (for good reason).
Why did you put quotation marks around their names? Lol
@@apriljefferson43 I was wondering the same thing. I was like wait what? 🤔🤔🤔
This song was my introduction to Trisha (we only had CMT in the UK for a couple of years), and I fell in love with her voice instantly, and the girl can do no wrong. I have all her albums, but this remains my favourite track despite its' unfortunate subject. To my mind this was her defining moment.
Trisha Yearwood should earn a Lifetime Achievement Award for her music.
Absolutely, Alden, you're so right! She really is a country music, story-telling, smooth voiced angel and country music needs her. Modern country is getting a bit too pop to be called country. And we need more retro country songs! Trisha is a country jewel!
Matthew McConaughey just said on The Kelly Clarkson Show that this was his first time in front of the camera before he done Dazed and Confused 💛
Hello there Rach nice meeting you here
Me🙋♀️
I’m surprised Matthew could say anything on the Kelly “I’m gonna talk over you” Clarkson show.
I thought that was him!!
Love this video and that movie!!!!! No wonder I've always thought he was so fine!!! He's been in my subconscious since I was 13 😂
This song just has a really special place in my heart ... 26 yrs ago my husband bought me this CD .
Hi Leslie hope you're okay?
I had the honor of being 20 feet away from Trisha when she first came out at a little crappy bar in Oxford, AL when nobody knew who she was. Still have my autographed cassette tape! I knew she was going to be big! Never knew she was going to be iconic, Garth Brook's wife big but I knew it is soon as I heard her voice!
We’re showing our age when we mention cassettes lol. My kids look at me like I’m crazy heaven forbid mentioning an 8-track!
@@brianhicks8234 Hahaha definitely Brian!
Don's backing vocals give me chills.
Who else is here rewatching the video after Kellyoke today and hearing Matthew McConaughey talk about being in this video?!!

I must confess I couldn't help myself! :)

My grandpa always told me that boy is a wrong kind of paradise
Beautiful song written by Greg Barnhill. I just had the joy of meeting him in Nashville last week. Such an humble guy.
I went through a period of absolutely loving country music. There was a time in the early 90s where the songwriting was pristine, pure and truthful ("new country") Love, Love, love this song!
Hi Rose
Yep 🤔
I that really is your name.... I love it... You speak the truth.... This is just stunning
I'm sure there were just as many Walkaway Janes...I'm curious to hear about those experiences as well.
Hi Julie hope you're okay?
DON HENLEY'S VOICE MADE THIS SONG: A DEFINITE HIT
I definitely agree. Don Henley is freaking hot.
So many people forget before she met Garth. She was a great country singer in our own rights.
This song is perfect. I have never lived what happens in this song, not actually. But, I can completely imagine the hurt and sorrow of living this song because of the way Trisha and Don sing the life into this song. Perfect.
Trisha and Don should have done so many more duets together!
But yes, I can see where you're coming from
S
+Aidan Maguire What the hell does that mean? And if it's about me having a social media account, then just don't even say a thing. My parents are doing the best they can, OK? They're really trying hard, and frankly, I think they're doing a very good job, thank ya very much 4 readin this, and now would ya PLEASE just drop it?
That's really cool that you got to meet Trisha Yearwood. Doubly cool that she's nice in person. This is probably my favorite song of hers. This or "How Do I Live Without You", it's kind of hard to call, I like them both evenly.
+Ryan O'Shay Yeah, and also she's in love with the boy, ya can't forget that one!!😁
I had no idea that Henley ever sang the second part to this song...what harmony!
Thanks for your love and support . It's a huge pleasure to know that I have got real fans.
May God continue to bless you. Kindly send me a direct message 7069932413
Trisha and Don hit #2 in Billboard, 1-23-93. God bless!
i think i actually feel my heart literally break a lil with the memories and this song and the pain certain love stains ones heart with
+suzy joe I was so lucky to see this live last night. This was the final song of the night, and Garth performed the duet with Trisha.
+Christian Costello I'm so jealous. They didn't perform it here! :(
suzy joe yeah I’ve felt this pain once
I know how you feel I been there.
That is deep.
~ Any song with Don Henelys Voice is a hit love his angelic Voice Frkn amazing
Hi Diane hope you're okay?
I fell in love with my walkaway joe twice. I should have known better the second time around, but the heart knows no reasoning. And now I'm rebuilding myself again.
Hello 🌹🕊️🌹
I'd known him since I was a kid. Met him later in life again. We've been together ever since. 2 kids and 5 Grandbabies later. 34 yrs together ❤. He's retired now, what that man did. He wasn't no walkway Joe.
Hey 👋 how are you?
the 'Walkaway Joe' notes that Don Henley hits at 3:47 nails me every time - how come I can't hit them notes - pretty song.
Always my favorite part too 😊
Don still smoked cigarettes, back then, too.
We all have a walk away joe somewhere in my life
+shyanne barnes So True! Very good point!
+TGWMPE yeah well people can never make their minds up
shyanne barnes i walked out.one relationship after 7 years she hit me but i stayed with her till i was like this song
shyanne barnes true
Or a Walk Away Jane 😂
Lord don't let my baby girl go through this. I know how this kinda hurt hurts... 😔
Thats a great line. Very song worthy. I could work off that line.
tslmiami I hear you I have 2girls and a son. GOD PLZ. DONT LET THEM EVER HAVE THIS HURT. Also
She will be fine... unless she fat and don't take care of herself
tslmiami so do I
tslmiami if that happens it would be a surprise though maybe it would be a better idea she does so she will have a life lesson to follow in the future
Don Henley adds the perfect counterpoint voice
*I am shocked this gorgeous heartfelt ballad doesn't have millions of likes!*
I'm working on it
This isn't the only site where it has likes.
I love this song too... goosebumps as well!!
I can't get over him. It's been 5 years after 20 together.
Hey how are you doing doing today?😊
I predict the guy in the video will have star potential
alright alright alright.
He's an Academy Award winner. Who would of thought.
The guy is a member of "The Eagles"
Don Henley? Naaaaaah.
Nope, it's Matthew McConaughey in the video - very young.
LOL :)
Not always
Carrie Carden I agree! I was 20 when this song came out! Happily married to a stay forever Michael as well! 😉😄👫💝
+Carrie Carden I am a happily married "stay forever Leon", great song.
Oh yes I had a walk away Joe at age 17. This song bring back memories. He walked away then now I see him every now and then. Sad. His name Hubert.
Don Henley always sounds good
Hey 👋 how are you doing today?
The words to this song haunted me to the point they played in my head. All through my early years. I married at 35 had a beautiful son. Married a good man who has stuck with me for about 18 years even through stage 4 breast cancer. Those words made me very very careful !! No regrets and winning my battle with cancer too. My son loves me so much too. Shows it all the time !! Fight for the dream girls fight like HELL because you have to ❤
So many layers of meaning. The music carries the song of the spirit, the voices carry the song of the heart and the lyrics carry the song of the story.
Song still gives me chills. I was this guy for half of my life before I met my angel.
To think, this song is now 20 years old, and, yet it will forever evoke memories and emotions - surely the utimate recognition of a truely beautiful piece of music, by both writer and artistes.
It's been 10 years, this song is 30 now and just as amazing.
I don't listen to much country music, but this song is simply masterful! An incredible blend of vocals, and lyrically, a masterpiece. Wow......
"But fate's got cards that it don't want to show" 💔
I must have seen this video at least 30 times, but never realised that was Matthew Mcconaughey. I had to come back after learning from his book Greenlights that this music video was one of his first acting gigs!! ❤
Hello there Rachel nice meeting you here
DAMN THESE OLD COUNTRY SONGS!!!! Pulling on my heart strings.
Now, this is real music 👍❤️❤️❤️
Yes real music sweetheart
Love how Trisha and Don sing in such perfect harmony. The video is pretty awesome too. March 2020 and this song still gives me chills....well done, Trisha and Don 💕❤
Tomorrow’s song of the day…been one of my favorite songs since the 90’s!!!
Another gem that came randomly on my youtube account
I never knew that was Matthew McConaughey! I just watched it and saw it after seeing him talk about it on the Kelly Clarkson show! That’s awesome! He’s so pretty! I love him!!!!!
I didn't know that was Matthew McConaughey in the video, he really turned out to be a awesome actor. Love his movies.
John Bruno me either lol
But got ugly
@@rochellehayez2352
Lol. 💓👍
My dad was a walk away joe got into a lot of relationship and left due to drug. My mom would sing me this song when I was little and tell me not to listen to those boys. Now I’m a single mom of beautiful twin girls and I’m only 16. I dont regret not listening to my mom I got my beautiful babies and they saved my life but it’s a whole lot of hurting and made life harder than it had to be
I get that. Everyone is just now finding this song. This was a song from my childhood.
((Hugs))
Don Henley compliments Trisha’s voice beautifully!
Anyone would have been blessed by GOD to spend one minute in that woman presence. Joey just wait till you get to be with her. Your guy's face should be under the definition of LOVE.

Alright, alright, alright! Saw this video a million times back in the day and just now notice that the walkaway Joe is Matthew McConaughey. How cool.
One of my all time favorite songs. This song is so spot on and so sad and all to common at the same time. Where did music like this go anyway? I miss songs like this.
Years ago i had a " walk away Joe", and thank God I did. It made me appreciate the true love of my life, and although I have been dealt some unfair cards in this world, I don't regret a thing.
I have tears every time I hear this song. Reminds me of John when we rode in his truck up into the Rockies. He was in awe and I loved his reaction. Years and years ago...but the song remembers when
Lyrics:
Mama told her baby girl take it real slow
Girl told her momma hey I really gotta go
He's waiting in the car
Mama said girl you won't get far
Thus are the dreams of an average Jane
Ninety miles an hour down a lovers lane
On a tank of dreams
Oh if she could've only seen
That fate's got cards that it don't want to show, and
That boy's just a walkaway Joe
Born to be a leaver tell you from the word go
Destined to deceive her
He's the wrong kind of paradise
She's gonna know it in a matter of time
That boy's just a walkaway Joe
Now just a little while into Abilene
He pulls into a station and he robs it clean
She's waiting in the car, oh, underneath the Texaco star
She only wanted love didn't bargain for this
She can't help but love him for the way he his
She's only seventeen and there ain't no reasoning
So she'll ride this ride as far as it can go, 'cause
That boy's just a walkaway Joe
Born to be a leaver tell you from the word go
Destined to deceive her
He's the wrong kind of paradise
She's gonna know it in a matter of time
That boy's just a walkaway Joe
Somewhere in a roadside motel room
Alone in the silence she wakes up too soon
And reaches for his arms
But she'll just keep reaching on
For the cold hard truth revealed what it had known
That boy's just a walk away Joe
Born to be a leaver tell you from the word go
Destined to deceive her
He's the wrong kind of paradise
But it was just another lesson in life
That boy was a walkaway Joe
Mmm yeah,
All he was was a walkaway Joe
Oh,
(Walkaway Joe)
He was a walkaway Joe
Mmm
Great song I never get tired of listening to this one
Walkaway Scumbag...
I grew up on this kind of country. I love this song, brings back great memories. ❤
