i watched every video! you cook like my mother did. amazing!!! only thing different cucumber salad she used garlic sour cream and paprika mit salt and pepper. and on the birthday cake she put a brown sugar candy on top. i love your video's! reminds me of my mom god bless her soul! i had forgotton a lot of her recipes and you have been a life saver. thank you so much. wish i could give you a great big hug!!!!
Never had it with sour cream ..my mum use to make it very thin slices then squeeze juice out with her hand then with garlic bit of sugar and vinegar and balance the taste

Yes, pasteurized eggs are a must in the icing. I've been making this same icing since the 1970s and no one's ever gotten sick or had a bad reaction in all that time because I used pasteurized eggs.
Hello liebe Oma! I made this cake for my family dinner for dessert. The cake was very dry. I checked my oven temperature and baked it for the recommended time. What went wrong? Would perhaps a teaspoon of oil help?
You can TRY it, just don't bake it as long, but, as a diabetic that has used fake sugar for years, it probably won't taste the same, and of course you wouldn't be able to use all that powdered sugar in the frosting if you're trying to avoid using real sugar.
