One of the things I love about the show is how much you two seem to enjoy each other! Looks like you're truly having a stellar time making each episode! Can we get a compilation video of the expressions you each make when you get a kick out of something the other one plays?
+Nathan Baldwin Hahaha!!! Dan and I are great friends. Have been for many years now. It's a trip to be able to do this in the way that we do it. Thanks for watching!
That Hamstead trem (both pedal and amp) is really fantastic. The Tremotron is also the coolest looking pedal around and it's sonic possibilities are intriguing!
Dan and Mick........you guys ROCK. I discovered your channel about 2 months ago, and I cant stop watching. I started playing guitar about 6 years ago ( I'm 54) and pedals always mystified me. Before watching this show I had a Boss ME-70 could never seem to make my own sound, and I surely didn't understand what each effect "really" did. After watching you guys explain the what why and how, I really get it now. I sold the ME-70 and now have 17 individual effects pedals (and ain't done yet) and oh the tones I can make now. Exploring what I can do has transformed my playing.....and enjoying like I couldn't have imagined. I've moved up to my next level of playing. Thanks!! Oh yeah my amp is an Ibanez 2004 TSA15H which I just re-tubed with some vintage NOS pre amp and power tubes, into a 2X12 cab with Celestion Cream Backs, and now I feel like it comes close to your Hamstead! LOL Plus watching you two and seeing the "fun" you have is awesome!! I hope you keep doing this for a long time!! Cheers!!
+Scott Johnson Thanks for that Scott - it's the best feedback we can possibly have to know that you're inspired to play more and happier with your sound to boot. Great to have you along and thank you for watching!
Great video guys. I was giddy when I saw this posted today. I broke down and bought a Boss TR-2 earlier this week and it arrives today. Perfect timing!! I'm going to be trying to emulate all of these sounds this weekend!!
Just wanted to say how much I've learned from your show as well as how much I've laughed. Thanks for helping us all on the journey to better tone, I think the show keeps getting better
I know this is an old vid but I love that you talk about your picks, after a year of playing I have tried everything now I am stuck on the jazz 3 XL prime tone, nothing beats it for me no other pick is the same as that. I can get away with the Ultex jazz 3 XL. You guys rock!!!!!!!!! LOL, I'm such a huge fan!
Love you guys just the way you are! don't listen to detractors! pedal Show is the highlight of my Friday! sometimes I watch half of it and save the rest to watch during the week when I have time!Love from sunny Florida!
The more I experiment with tremolo, the earlier and earlier it ends up in my chain. I love the sound of tremolo into fuzz! Also a low depth, high speed tremolo into a chorus or flanger sounds very rich and complex.
Mine just ended up right at the front after an afternoon of trying to eliminate hiss. Still no idea where THAT'S coming from but it increases throughout the board. And what I DON'T want to hear is shUshUshUshUshUshing. Putting trem upfront fixed that so much that I began loving playing tremolo at the front through soft OD and into Flashback delay. Kept me entertained for hours. Different strokes for different folks!
You guys should put the Name Drop Horn right next to the board so you can just step on it. Or.....create a new guitar pedal called the Name Drop..... Great sounds by the way. Thanks as always for the videos.
Mike Gordon from Phish has a boxing bell on the floor next to his board to be used when the jams get hot. I think the Name Drop Horn could be rigged the same way.
I loved this episode. I have recently begun my Search for Tremolo Pedals. So far I have narrowed my search to ( 3 ): Lovepedal Custom Build Tap Tremolo Pedal, Dawner Prince Effects Starla Tremolo & The Hamstead Soundworks Signature Tremolo - are the three Best I have heard. Never saw you guys laugh so hard. ( that MXR overdrive sounded good ). I Learn so much - every-time I watch this show. Your show is so informative. ( pedal order was very eye opening ).
Thanks Jimmy Green - It honestly sounds The Most Musical to me. That is The One I have got my eye on ( but I do Tons of Research ) before making Any Purchase. Just bought Thorpy Fallout Cloud - it arrives on Monday. So Psyched. Dan & Mick " You guys are killing me " ( make me want a pedalboard with 25 pedals )
So awesome. I think its great you both leave in the bits where you completely crack up. It makes the videos less clinical and more like you're just hanging out with mates playing some great gear. I have been wanting a good tremolo pedal for awhile now. This video has just made it more pressing... Cheers and as always thanks for the great information.
+Rob C Cheers Rob. Yep, Dan and I started doing this because all we talk about is guitars, amps and effects. So we said, 'Let's do this on UA-cam and see if a few people like it. So far 83k people like it enough to subscribe and we have around 8 million minutes of video watched per month. It's slightly insane but we're glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching. :9)
I'm inspired to give this effect a try. And I'm making this video a favorite so I can return over and over again to the part where you two loose it over that poor Italian's name! I've had the flu for the last month and it's been cool, cloudy & rainy here - this video keeps brightening my days!
Just wanted to say I only recently gave tremolo a chance and it's totally started to dominate my sound. It's gorgeous, and can honestly I believe be used in any genre. Just such a great effect.
Small world... Dan, I'm living on Gold Coast QLD 20yrs now & often working "up the road" in Brisbane your hometown. I was born & grew up in Southampton just "down the road" from you & you gigged on a boat there last night. Ha! Love the show guys, always entertaining 👍🏻
Another excellent episode. You guys are the best at what you do and I appreciate the insight. You bring a lot to the table for fellow guitarists seeking knowledge about gear (especially pedals). Thank you for doing this. I just recently picked up the MXR M305 Tremolo and it’s great. Sounds nice along side the MXR M300 Reverb. It’s all the tremolo I’ll ever need. This episode is what influenced me to purchase a tremolo pedal. I feel I made the right decision from what my ears are hearing. Never used trem before now and I’m really loving it. Thanks again for all you do. Take care
Fridays were already pretty damn cool, but these vids are knocking it out of the park. I have a tremelo and rarely use it because I couldn't ever get the sounds I wanted, now I have ideas to try. Thanks lads!
The section of the show where you guys used the boost of the Fulltone pedal and the MXR overdrive, is a great example of the myriad number of hidden ways a player can discover a great sound and potentially make it their own. Magic stuff.
Thanks guys!! Great show again (as always) and very good to see the Providence Chrono Delay on the show again. What a great analog delay is that!! Love it on my board.
Dan you've taught me so much.. An example would be I didn't even know pedals required certain power... Please keep making videos guys. This is a great guitar player resource.
First comment in ages... but relevant because these videos are timeless! I bought myself a Strymon Flint so that I could free up some space on my pedal board (I took out two separate pedals and replaced them with just the one). The Flint is amazing, but damn, I wish the nobs on the front were dual-turn nobs. The volume boost is hidden away as a secondary feature, which requires you to push both pedals down at the same time, which is completely impractical when you need to adjust things quickly to suit a mix. Besides that, it's a wonderful tremolo with 3 tremolo options - harmonic band filtering, power tube bias, and photocell. Maaaan.... it's so good.
I am in the market for a new Tremolo pedal so I was super stoked to see this video. I was looking at getting the Strymon Flint but now my choice becomes harder. Ace video!
Yes! Been waiting for this one! Thanks guys! Tremolo, particularly in an old Fender amp or on a Wurlitzer 200A, is my all-time favorite modulation effect. I crank my Carr Rambler amp to 10 with a touch of spring reverb for my sound and I love the sound of that amp's tube bias tremolo when the power section is cooking. It feels different than the tremolo being before or after the distortion, because the overdrive is happening from the power section which is modulating in bias (or something like that). Not sure about all the technical details around that, but it's such a lovely sound.
By the way, I've learned so much from this show. You guys are seriously the best and the guitar community gains so much from what you guys do. I owe a lot to you guys in finding my own tonal nirvana. Funny that TPS has shown me that I prefer not having a board and running as few pedals as possible. I've been running a vintage Thomas Organ Crybaby, Chicago Iron Octavian Plus, and EP3 Echoplex into a cranked amp with reverb and tremolo. No board, all batteries. Works for me! Happy days!
+That Pedal Show The laughter on this video is so contagious! Thanks for the awesome content. Dan's line "remember that the overdrive, really, is also a compressor" struck me hard with its wisdom. Won't be selling my trem pedal no more. Cheers!
Another great vid. I always look forward to Fridays. Best channel on youtube for sure! Can I make a request?! I love that you show us your base clean tone, straight into the amps, at the start of each show, but could you perhaps try to show each amp individually and then together when you show us your clean sound? Even if it's just a few seconds! You've done it on some episodes and not on others, and I always find it fascinating to hear each amp, and then together... Not a biggie, but I always find it an interesting moment of the show!
I love putting anything that boosts level in my effects loop(boosts, overdrives, distortion is out front of course) but eq, comp, preamp etc. They are so great in the loop cause they stay clean. It's my secret weapon for cleans and people always think my amp is just amazing (which it is in my opinion lol, its a marshall DSL100HR an I couldn't be happier with it) but I have my compression in the loop so I get more clean comp from it and it really makes cleans so incredible and clear and full. If the comp is up front it brakes up too quickly especially with higher output pups. And comp in the loop can also simulate tube sag which is great for when you can't really crank your amp but want that natural sag tone. I also use my eq in the loop to do some post preamp tweaking like you'd be able to do on some mesa boogies, and last but certainly not least I just built another diy kit a Zeppelin Design Labs Quaverato Harmonic Tremolo(I build pedals from scratch also on veroboard but the quality and cost of the Quaverato kit was so good that I could match it without spending at least twice as much, Pretty much all of their components tested to within 1% tolerances) . It's an incredibly versatile trem that sounds excellent but I also use it cause it has tons of gain on tap if you want it. It has a volume control on the front of the amp but it also has a variable resistor/trim pot inside that you can use to set the amount of gain with. That way you can get 12 o clock on the volume control to be perceived unity gain. It was such a fun build and I love using it just as a boost as much as a tremolo and harmonic tremolo. You also have internal trim pots to set the high and low frequency levels so you can make the pedal brighter or darker based on preference and if that wasn't enough you also have a dip switch internally for both the high and low signals that sit right after the optocouplers. With the dip switches you can set the high and low pass filters cut off frequencys. With frequencys further apart you get more phasing sounds in the harmonic mode an with the frequencys closer together you get more of the mids/high mids back into the signal. Like I said it's an incredibly versatile tremolo that sounds excellent. If your able to solder and follow directions you can build it yourself for $89 or a little over $100 if you choose to add the midi upgrade which I did even though I only use midi with my DAW lol. Check it out!
I've got an EHX Super Pulsar and it is very cool. It has an amazing feature set, but my favorite thing about it is the envelope controls for depth and rate, based on the amplitude of the signal coming in. So the trem can be set to automatically slow down or speed up or go deeper or shallower as your notes decay (or as you adjust your volume knob). Very musical and awesome.
Great episode fellas... Comment on the Boss TR-2 - Years ago I was getting great sounds with it in the basement then wondered why it never 'worked' in gig scenarios... Apparent or actual, it disappeared in the mix and I stopped using it live. I then discovered Analogman, got it mod'ed and was blown away. It became a fave pedal and this naturally led to a dangerous GAS-path of KOT, BiComp, Chorus,... plus more recently, the Boss GE-7 mod which is also fantastic. TR-2 at end of chain, after delays & just before reverb is where it works best on my rig.
Off to watch that now. I'm still dying with laughter over the Sorasio and "beating against each other" stuff. It's Sunday and I'm revisiting all the funniest TPS episodes.
Totally get the low output pickup thing. My best sounding guitar is my 62 reissue tele, closely followed by my tele part-caster with 6.2 and 6.5 PUs. I look forward to the pick up video.
Hey guys, great episode as usual. I asked before and you said you liked the idea, but do you think you'll do an episode about putting together a rock/blues pedalboard on somewhat of a budget through some popular amps. Possibly talk about the most widely used pedals (and who pioneered the sound), what order you would acquire them in, unconventional uses etc. it would be helpful for those who were pedal ignorant until recently
+Tyler B We can try Tyler, but if you think about, let's say, Joe Bonamassa, Philip Sayce, Gary Moore and even SRV for that matter, they all do rock/blues in very different ways. I'll put my brain matter to it. (mick here)
That Pedal Show Thanks Mick. yeah i get they used loads of different gear, I shouldve clarified, I meant most popular effects used in those genres. Essentially, what order would you get the effects to start building a versatile blues/rock board . Thanks for lending an ear, keep up the good work fellas!
@@philipbrister Boss used to be inexpensive... Now every pedal is getting collecteable. We're becoming less of musician and more of a fetish collector; or at least many think so when the skyrocket their pedals prices.
Terrific show guys - Mick you do a stellar job on the production values here. It looks unbelievably professional for a "two guys in a garage" show. Tremolo is my favorite effect by far and I'm delighted to see you finally cover it. One question I have - I often hear a faint warble in tube amps, particularly in decaying notes, that sounds to me like a very slight tremolo. Is there something inherent in power tubes that causes the sound to decay in a nonlinear way? And is that one reason why tubes (sorry, valves) supposedly sound more organic?
+Charlie Stiegler Thank you Charlie, though the praise for the production goes to Simon, our cameraman/producer. :9) That warble could be anything. Doesn't sound entirely right, so maybe the amp needs a little overhaul. Maybe new valves, filter caps, biasing... probably time for a general tune up! Thanks for watching!
This video has taught me two things. I need to shell out for a Super Trem and my current little board is wired exactly opposite to how it should be. Back to the old drawing board then. Cheers
Great episode, a lot of laughs and daftness to make us smile but also a ton of info as usual! Re - Type of effect, I always thought of tremolo as a gain based effect as opposed to a modulation based effect. Whilst the amplitude is being modulated, the result is a perception of level change of course which to me translates as a gain based effect...the same way an EQ is also a gain based effect/control.
Mick, you should really check the boost trick on the SupaTrem where you use the Soft/Hard switch to get Trem off/Trem on. Just set the Mix to zero and you have a great boost and/or a great tremolo.
thanx for this-- this and vibrato show just helped me decide to keep the pedal i got and spend more time with it. Endangered Audio Spectravibe-- very analog-very deep
And thus this shall be the 'Mick broke Dan' episode! And can you guys get hold of a Janus tremolo fuzz! That would be awesome! It's on my list of want! Love the show guys
Fantastic selection of pedals here. I love the section on ordering as well. Makes complete sense if you think that originally reverb and tremolo were amp effects. They sound great at the end of the chain. Well explained and demonstrated
Great episode as usual ..tremolo is an interesting effect and when used wisely can have a massive tonal impact.... Guys, I think it is imperative to do an episode on "Low Output" pickups as they are also my favorite type!!
From the FULLTONE website & the way I personally use the SupaTrem: Cool Trick! Turn the MIX knob full CCW, make sure the HARD/SOFT switch is set to SOFT, and your pedal becomes an amazing Clean Boost device when you turn it on... simply set the VOLUME knob to how ever much kick you want. NOW, if you want to add tremolo, simply step on the HARD/SOFT footswitch and you’ll have a normal sounding sine-wave tremolo.
SwingCordDestroy Yes. This. Some of my venues require using a radial SGI to route to my amp in a doghouse way back stage. I put the supa-trem last in the chain and use this trick to boost the output and compensate for the tone suck.
Great show, friends. I don't know much about pickups, but I do have a set of the Don Mare Hayride Telecaster pickups that come in at 7k/bridge and like 6.1k neck that sound amazing, are supposed to be authentic 50's specs, and are essential for the "Bakersfield Sound". They are so springy and beautiful-sounding, and might actually be the very pickup Brad Paisley was referring to, in fact. The middle position sounds so clear and full, and I swear the bridge pickup has an "overdriven" character to it, probably related to some insane mid-push. I can't wait to see that upcoming pickup episode!
Great Video!! Would love to see a show on pickup outputs, can just imagine Dan's delightful explanation of what is happening to the signal. Just keep making great videos where you have fun as they are the most enjoyable to watch! Apart from that more AC30 tones please :D
Really amazing how pedal order changes things. You guys are comedians and I expect to see the BBC pick you up for a special very soon. Once again I am blown away by the versatility of both of you cats on guitar. Tasty players the both of you!
+robin miller Thank you Robin. You're not the producer Robin Miller are you? He might be Millar... and erm, well. A google search would tell us if he's (you're) still with us!?
Hey Dan and Mick, thanks for another great video! - You guys should do a compact multi effects one with the Strymon Mobius, Keeley Super Mod Workstation, Line 6 M5, Eventide H9 and others of the kind. For the people that are looking to use a compact board with tons of options on the modulation side. - Cheers!
Loved this one guys. Had a quick idea for one, how about you compare older versions of pedals to their new versions (original marshall guv'nor vs GV2 etc)
god do I love and always need a good tremolo! from the classic sounds thru to the choppy helicopter sounds...cool to see the boss tr2! it's the one I currently am using, the ol' g..haha
(Tugs thoughtfully on chin fuzz) Hmmmm. The old Carlsbro solid state sat unused in the garage has a built in trem. Now, if we tie in last week's wet/dry/wet episode as a bit of inspiration, stick the Carlsbro in between the two bottle amps with just a hint of trem as the clean sound we could be onto something. Then again, might sound like nails on glass but you never know 'til you try it. Looking forward to the pickup episode too. Just discovered that inside an old 70's Les Paul copy with its weird not proper humbucker pickups is a tone surprisingly reminiscent of Gilmour doing "Any colour you like" from 1974. Tone moves in mysterious ways. Great show as ever. Always good to see Dan laughing so hard he's crying.
Hey Dan and Mick!! I'm almost sure Joe actually uses the Fulltone Tremulo (based on the Demeter tremulator just like the Mooer) in front of all his amps, since it comes before his switching system. You can barely hear his tremolo until he turns down his guitar and you hear a slight pulse. He keeps the depth at zero and when he wants obvious tremolo he steps on the hard/soft footswitch. He uses mostly as a clean boost to thicken up his tone, as Tremulators were famous for doing so well. I do the same with my boss tremolo in fact with the depth at zero, very decent boost plus saves space on the board, you just need to turn the depth knob down with your foot. This is what Joe wrote on his forum: "I use the supa trem for just that purpose... A little amount of trem in the quiet parts but a good gain boost on the bottom end.. It acts like a fat switch... A very interesting pedal.. Been in the rig for years now.... Joe B"
Just a thought on the Flint (if you haven't shot the video already): when using the tremolo into the reverb, you get a nice, squishy univibe sound too, which makes it a 3-in-1 pedal for me when I use a smaller board. Cheers.
Hey, guys! I need to say that you make one of my favourite, if not the favourite, videos on UA-cam, I can't wait for Fridays, since I started watching you, which was back when you still posted on Daniel's channel. I have a question though, will you ever do "recording 101" or some basic dos and don'ts when recording. I know that this is a huge and somewhat different subject, but I feel really bummed when I play something listenable on the guitar, but don't have the knowledge to save it. I browsed through your old videos and couldn't find anything on the theme, so I wondered if you ever plan to do it. Best of luck with your videos in the future!
Fantastic show as usual! Suggestion for future show. How to set up an amp, not being totally confused by the huge sound differences of directional effects. Perhaps difficult or not even relevant to do in the context of your show, but to me it's a huge challenge to understand the sound with sometimes un-miked, sometimes mix of direct and miked, and sometimes almost only miked sound reaching the audience, while you amp (stage sound) is direct into your ear. At least some guidelines would be extremely helpful since we spend so much money on guitars, amps and even more on pedals, but this necessary piece of the puzzle is often not mastered. I mean, where should you sit in relation to your amp when testing your pedals - even the smallest change in angle can have huge effects on sound. Sorry for rambling :-), just a suggestion.
+Hot Rats That's really interesting! As you say very hard to do on the show as we don't have a stage and a PA. Our inclination is to say that you should always be able to hear your amp. But then you add mics, monitors, in-ears and all of that and everything changes. Also, amps/cabs differ significantly in that some are much more directional than others. Super interesting.
Thanks! Even with you guys not sitting with the same angle from the cabs I would imagine you hear things a bit differently in the room. Hard topic though, but one I'm struggling with, particularly concerning amount of treble / high mids. Keep up the great work!
I don't want to be pedantic but... wait, yes. Yes I do. Ring modulation is just very fast tremolo (>20Hz), so that buzzing sound from the tremotron is ring mod. Great show as always.
Cool! A little hidden gem is the old TC Electronic Vintage Tremolo, fantastic tube like tone! Very close to the onboard tremolo of my EC Vibro-Champ... :)
Hey please don't stop talking about picks ! They can really also change your tone !!! Would be interesting to dedicate on episode to this ?? Thanks again for your massive investment in time and explanation to present all the nice boxes we love to have in front of us on a gig, just to be able to kick one and scream at loud during a chorus!!!
Y'all should do a rig modeling series where you show us how pedals can work together, pedal order, boosting drives, driving boosts basically how pedals can interact as well as how you set up your board for the gig you are playing
+Christopher Vinson its s difficult one. Mick and I just aren't really modelling guys. Over the years we've built up a collection of amps that we love,we'd much rather just use those
I shouldn't have used the word modeling. What I meant is showing us how you would set up a rig for a specific gig and how pedals might work together for different tones using the gear you have not using digital modelers
Really pleased that this episode has appeared and pleased to see the TR2 (currently on my board) being compared to some of the more current, exotic tremolo units. Disappointed not to see the Kingsley Bard valve tremolo, and I don't know if you tried to get hold of a Dearmond Tremolo Control (1940s 'pedal')... Even the humble TR2 sounds good through G2 and your amps.... there's a number of Analogman mods to the TR2 that are offered too... another interesting one would have been the Jim Dunlop Tremolo in a wah pedal housing - tremolo with expression... not sure if any of the higher end units have expression inputs ? p.s. The real tremolo track on REM's Monster album is 'Crush with Eyeliner' and I think Peter Buck used the Cesar Diaz Tremodillo pedal - these are a bit hard to find now and no longer made.
For a couple of dudes obsessed with stereo, I can't believe you didn't consider a good stereo panner, like the old PN-2, the new SD Shape Shifter, or my special Young's Pedals The Looker with tap tempo and volume boost. I use a Nova Repeater, stereo out to The Looker, stereo out to Strymon Blue Sky. I'm planning to get a good stereo chorus for the longest stereo chorus chain I can make!
Another great show gents. You make me want to try a tremolo pedal again. Dan: "boats and tremol-hose" may have been the your best joke yet, well done. Mick: I seriously laughed out loud with your "Carlo Sorasio" pronunciation. You brighten my Friday every week gentlemen, thank you! :)
Tremolos make us better players: to keep our playing intelligible, we have to play longer notes and choose them carefully... Great show guys!
+noisesoundtonevibe Love that. Much wisdom, you have. Thank you for watching!
That Pedal Show p
Very well put. The "in-between even", I'm just now sorta kinda grasping the very small edges of that idea 😁
l
Excellent point here. Sometimes less is better.
Good to see Trem getting some love. Absolutely *underrated.* Really been getting into it a lot more lately.
It's moments like the one where you lose it trying to pronounce the Italian pedal designer's name that really make this channel worth watching.
Loved watching the demo and the Carlo crack up, very infectious guys! I've been sittin so long tweeking my pedal board now I have a bit of Carlo.
I watched the "Carlo Sorasio" part 10 times and cracked up with you every time. You guys are the best!
That Hamstead trem (both pedal and amp) is really fantastic. The Tremotron is also the coolest looking pedal around and it's sonic possibilities are intriguing!
+Phil Heesen III Ah, we owe Carlo a big apology. Little boys giggling. Got to be done. :0)
+Robb Thank you Robb! Great to have you on board!
Dan's "Gig Hangover" is priceless.
Yeah, you should do more "after heavy drinking" episodes!
Indeed. I like the tangents they riff on.

You guys should put the Name Drop Horn right next to the board so you can just step on it. Or.....create a new guitar pedal called the Name Drop..... Great sounds by the way. Thanks as always for the videos.
The name drop pedal!!! Brilliant!!!
Mike Gordon from Phish has a boxing bell on the floor next to his board to be used when the jams get hot. I think the Name Drop Horn could be rigged the same way.
What about the obvious . . put the Name Drop Horn on a mic stand
+FumbleHead or the most obvious: add the horn in post.
Ah too 'digital' . . . gotta keep it analog (and visual) :)
Just bought Thorpy Fallout Cloud - it arrives on Monday. So Psyched. Dan & Mick " You guys are killing me " ( make me want a pedalboard with 25 pedals )
Ordered mine today. Thanks again for the input my friend.
how is your experience with volume drop using the lovepedal tap tremolo?
+TheRealReTox Excellent! Thanks for watching Tox!
God, I love this video. The Tremotron is amazing! And so is the Pedal Show hoodie that arrived yesterday. :)
+Bob Engeringh It's digital, Bob!
with some great analog circuitry... yeah... you are right... who am I kidding...
But it's a great delay right!!
Nice Tony Polecastro allusion at 8:50! Oh the good old days of the Acoustic Letter...
Nice video guys.
+Ben Petersen Aha! That's where it's from. That little tune is in my brain, but had become temporarily dislodge from its origin. Ah, Tony.
I am in the market for a new Tremolo pedal so I was super stoked to see this video. I was looking at getting the Strymon Flint but now my choice becomes harder. Ace video!
Chris Hepburn Highly recommend the Flint. Brilliant tremolos AND brilliant reverbs. Get the favourites switch too.....
ya it is a great pedal but now I'm thinking of the Diamond tremolo. I'm changing my mind like the wind. I like the idea of a tap tempo on a tremolo
I've been waiting for a full show on trem. Thank you guys!
+Jake Stewart Music Yes it is! That is a very special place to be Jake. Nice one. :0)
Happy days!
+Jake Stewart Music Wow! There are some tones right there. We'd be happy be that. :0)
+MisterAngstrom yes! Must get one for part 2
such lovely staring... the bromance is strong in this ones.
wonderful video! (and I dont even really use tremolos).
Oh man, that clean tele tone. The second you played it I involuntarily let out an "oooooh" sound
Boss fixed the "Volume drop" in 2006 or so. A new TR2 doesn't have the drop. You can check the serial number online on a used one.
+Abram Treadwell ah, very cool, mine is quite old
Ive been watching your videos for months. Only subscribed now because of the reminder at the start of the video haha
You guys are Security Council (SC) pedal. I learn so much form you two guys, it's unbelievable. I buy no pedal without you council. Thanks
+David Moore Well, you know we're fans of Mike Analog Man. No arguments from us. :0)
LOL at "boats and tremol-hos"!
rcoveyduc may have been Dans best joke to date. Besides the seagull story of course
what is the seagull story
Not sure what episode but something about one flying into an ice cream shop and causing a mess, they were dying
Seagull story was the one on tube screamer alternatives
Off to watch that now. I'm still dying with laughter over the Sorasio and "beating against each other" stuff.
It's Sunday and I'm revisiting all the funniest TPS episodes.
Totally get the low output pickup thing. My best sounding guitar is my 62 reissue tele, closely followed by my tele part-caster with 6.2 and 6.5 PUs. I look forward to the pick up video.
Another Great Show!! I have a Voodoo Lab tremolo I bought used, I've not compared to others but for me it's great.
Thanks for lending an ear, keep up the good work fellas!
how about a once a month inexpensive pedals that sound incredible show ?
There would only be room for a couple.. Just get a Neo Clone. Only thing under 100 that's good man.
this show is for blues lawyers, haven't you noticed?
@@elliotmorley9075 under 100 €/$ there are a lot of pedals that sound cool... I mean used pedals.
The boss and full tone are both fairly inexpensive
@@philipbrister Boss used to be inexpensive... Now every pedal is getting collecteable. We're becoming less of musician and more of a fetish collector; or at least many think so when the skyrocket their pedals prices.
Thanks for covering this topic. I think tremolo is my favorite modulation effect. So useful and expressive.
That warble could be anything. Doesn't sound entirely right, so maybe the amp needs a little overhaul. Maybe new valves, filter caps, biasing... probably time for a general tune up! Thanks for watching!
Have always loooooved tremolo. Amazingly, my first pedal way back in da day.. Thanks guys!!
1+ hour of thoughts...I can't wait! :) Love your show. Even wear your beanie proudly.
+M DA Thank you! We had some moans today about the length. Never been a problem in the past.
Ahem.
The more, the better!
I know I've complimented it before, but that is truly the most incredible sounding telecaster I've ever heard 😮😮😮😮😮
This video has taught me two things.
I need to shell out for a Super Trem and my current little board is wired exactly opposite to how it should be.
Back to the old drawing board then.
Cheers
Oh yeah and also I need a 7.2k bridge pickup. These free videos cost me a bloody fortune 😫
+Q Tips Wallet It's all a journey Q. Happy travelling and thanks for watching!
+Box on Bass Oooh. Sounds very coool....
Fantastic selection of pedals here. I love the section on ordering as well. Makes complete sense if you think that originally reverb and tremolo were amp effects. They sound great at the end of the chain. Well explained and demonstrated
Mick, a crisp and heartfelt salute for that opening on the Gretsch. Soooo good!
+Chris Hollinrake Thank you Chris! Wish I spent more time with that stuff. It's so rewarding to play. Thanks for watching!
Found you guys months and months ago, way before the Andertons affiliation. A true education, you are welcome.
Great episode as usual ..tremolo is an interesting effect and when used wisely can have a massive tonal impact....
Guys, I think it is imperative to do an episode on "Low Output" pickups as they are also my favorite type!!
Love the show. I particularly appreciate the insertion of the occasional pedal review to provide counterpoint to the comedy !
+45calypso Hahahaha!!! We're definitely not the channel for pedal reviews. Plenty of other channels that do that better. :9)
*Great idea about a show on pickups. Please include various ways to "make up" the difference between pickups in different guitars live
+grandmasterB77 will do
Great information; especially the placement comparisons! Thank you.
I wish I was half the guitarist of either of you. Even your noodling is engaging.
SwingCordDestroy That's how I use mine. put it before my overdrive and it pushes it into lead gain territory.
SwingCordDestroy Yes. This. Some of my venues require using a radial SGI to route to my amp in a doghouse way back stage.
I put the supa-trem last in the chain and use this trick to boost the output and compensate for the tone suck.
I wish I liked my job as much as you guys like yours. Such fun to watch!
+sduke39 We wish it was our job!
Poor Carlo. Haha. Love my Gravitas so inspirational! Joel is the best. Great show as always guys.
I just built my first board and I would love it if you guys did a segment on power supplies?
Great episode! Love the trems! (Thanks to John Fogerty's sounds. He made me want to have one.) Cheers!
+Jason Vanzant LOVE Don Mare pu's.
- Cheers!
Excellent show. I think I like the Tremelo after distortion and other mods like phaser but before echo and reverb. also 58:55 lol.
Loved this one guys. Had a quick idea for one, how about you compare older versions of pedals to their new versions (original marshall guv'nor vs GV2 etc)
+Rob Field Nice idea Rob, we like that a lot. Thanks for watching!
god do I love and always need a good tremolo! from the classic sounds thru to the choppy helicopter sounds...cool to see the boss tr2! it's the one I currently am using, the ol' g..haha
+fletches40 I love the old carlsbro amps, was my first amp when I was 10. It can be great to mix an SS amp with a valve amp as well.
Mick those chords sound uncannily like Sesame Street. Lovely Tremolo tones, love this pedal alongside my Casino.
This is what Joe wrote on his forum:
"I use the supa trem for just that purpose... A little amount of trem in the quiet parts but a good gain boost on the bottom end.. It acts like a fat switch... A very interesting pedal.. Been in the rig for years now....
Joe B"
+Miguel Pessanha Well there we are, thank you Miguel!
On my lunch break and I get to watch this 👌🏻 only an hour and a half left when I go back to work
I have an extra noisy Danelectro tremolo, so I have been interested about upgrading. And I just watched this today 1-5-2020
I was laughing so hard, while not even getting what was so funny. You guys rock!
Strymon Flint is just superb and very tweakable - it's a mainstay on my board(s). Great stuff guys.
+Mike McCourt We'll include that in round 2. Like that pedal muchly. Thanks for watching!
Just a thought on the Flint (if you haven't shot the video already): when using the tremolo into the reverb, you get a nice, squishy univibe sound too, which makes it a 3-in-1 pedal for me when I use a smaller board. Cheers.
Great show as usual Guys and still loving the Immerse here
I LOVE the reverb before the tremolo sound at 52:55. Would love to have heard that with the delay on aswell
I should be receiving my Flint tomorrow. This is just what I need to get hyped for it.
Lee yeahh reaally all the way from Southhampton....sorry I fell asleep before you all got started.
The ST-1 is definitely one of the best pedal purchases I've made thus far. Love it. BTW, are you guys high? You're killing me. I'm cracking up.
When I'm feeling down, I come here to watch you two try to read that name.
You make things ok again
+Magnus R Bless you Magnus. If we make you laugh, everything is good in the world!
+Miha Zupančič we will do an entire show of maybe a short series on this. Fascinating subject
That's awesome and thank you for the quick answer!
Ah ! not the Diamond trem ?
Heard it on the Steven Wilson rig video, with Dan. amazing sounding !
Leave it to the pros. Thanks guys this video helped a lot! UA-cam is a wonderful place!
+james fairlie Mick here. I never knew that. Awesomeness
Cool! A little hidden gem is the old TC Electronic Vintage Tremolo, fantastic tube like tone! Very close to the onboard tremolo of my EC Vibro-Champ... :)
@That Pedal Show great as always, weak pickups are the best! we need a pickup episode/s
Primetone!!! Yes Mick! Sign me up too Dunlop.😂😂😂
Long time fan! Love your videos!
+Stuart Narduzzo We own Carlo an apology. But at least he's semi famous now. :9)
So stoked for a pickup-talk episode!
