When its on point and properly sorted out the S-10 is an elite level small tire racer. People can throw all the hate they want at the combo but its a well proven truck. Whats more, any major change means a new learning curve just like the one you had by changing to 15* heads. You don't need to fix what isn't broken. Just sort your stuff out. And thanks Bill, for the roundabout explanation why Tommy and the guy with the Nova split the pot. 😊
I'm sure that splitting the pot was agreed upon before the beginning of the race, they both worked hard to get to the finals and neither of them had confidence in their cars to win

The 'reality' is that it's a flyweight tube chassis car. It can have the engine set back for better weight bias, is right on the ground, etc. That is the ONLY way a wounded gasoline fueled small block with a single plate is going to go out there are literally make fools of everyone. He had 60fts in the 1.teens... where real cars were closer to 1.30. How else is a that car going to compete against 35 PSI on methanol? lol. If they continue to allow purpose built flyweight race cars to come in and 'puppy kick' the car counts will dwindle, and it will just be yet another 'race car' class with only a handful of competitive cars.

It's great to see Tommy doing so well. When I started watching SRC, the S10 was why. I'm a Chevy fan, and am old school, like the old man. Billy is doing remarkable tuning the falcon, but, I know the S10 is capable of going to the finals every race. Billy The Kid will be in the winners circle soon. He's figuring it out, day by day. I'd take pride in the fact that little "POS carbureted" s10 has pushed EVERYONE around you guys to get better...I have 0 doubts with the right focus back on the truck, it easily goes back to the top....I watched it pull the tires at 600ft, it hasn't forgot how.

I cannot imagine how proud you are to stand back and watch your two boys compare notes and thoughts about the last run, the tune, the track, etc.. They're both outstanding drivers and it shows in every video. And for the knuckle heads :) I was raised on carbureted small block Chevy's and still have one. That truck has everything it needs to go wicked fast.

An aluminum fuel cell with m1 and especially with an open air/oxygen source is a losing battle. It will oxidize. Keep the cell as full as possible when stored. Also add a ball valve to the roll over vent to shut its air source off (when stored). Even after you switch to a stainless cell. Those two tricks will still pay dividends in a happy fuel system with nasty ass M1.
Hey Old Man, Also check your fuel lines and make sure they ARE NOT aluminum also!!!! I fought issues just like this on my 8 sec ACVW. This stuff WILL get into your injectors and clog them TOO.... You might want to order up a spare set of injectors so that you can swap them out and get them cleaned in between races until you get this situation fixed..... Just hinting at ya. PM me with an address and I'll send you some new filters I've got left over from my VW.
Good call weird. I bet they have that white film all inside them. Hopefully they have old data logs from the old owner and can cross ref duty cycle and see if its been creeping up over time.

At the end of the day I love LS’s (have one myself that I’m building) but something about that s-10 with the carburetor showing up and showing out every weekend gets me excited. keep the carburetor and show these new school guys WHATS HAPPENING!! I’m a SBC guy and I love carburetors. I also understand why everyone loves digital fuel injection and LS engines. I have 40 years of experience with carburetors and small blocks which make them second nature to me.
It's mainly consistent times they auto adjust for weather and you get data also helps with seeing problems before it costs you a race low fuel pressure or a cylinder firing funny. I still have a carb on my car but plan to be holley efi next summer.
@@brucenaylor2043 I understand exactly what you are saying but I can jet for weather changes and my car is deadly consistent. DFI is much better for tuning individual cylinders or weather and all around better performance but it has many more points of failure over a carburetor ie injectors,sensors or any other electronic component in the efi system. Rap a carburetor with a screwdriver and viola its fixed😂.
@@YaM0MsAh03 I have a carbureted 6.0 and it runs excellent. But I live in the Northeast and SBC circle track parts are plentiful and cheap so that is what I prefer. I worked on LS engines since their inception at GM and I know how good they are.

Personally, I think with the heads the truck has, and Billy gets up on the wheel, gets aggressive again, the little truck will be the stud of the shop! You know what your doing, just don’t tap out health wise, worrying, all of you will figure this multi car thing out! Can’t beat that small block sound singing around 7 to 8000+ on the big end! Toss in the carb in total cost and your well into Efi. It’s All preference. It all works. But I can just fill my turbo Efi car up and run it all day without touching it. Anything I want to see or change is in one place..one program. Ironically… it’s far more simple and easy. Carbs work great but it’s just more work

Thanks again Bill for the update. I do have to say seeing Tommy back racing again is awesome. I’m sure he’s excited, he’s been kicking ass. Just a perspective looking from the outside in, tuning two vehicles for Billy can’t be easy. Wouldn’t doubt it at all if Billy has subconsciously been more focused on making sure Tommy is happy, his cars happy and he can go rounds. Can’t imagine the BS Billy’s been bombarded with, if he was winning then everyone would be on his ass that he’s detuning or not letting Tommy get the most out of the falcon. Then turn the tables and get Tommy’s tunes very close and people jump on him saying the truck doesn’t have it anymore. Poor kids under a double edge sword. He’s doing an amazing job and his brothers racing with him again. I’m sure they’re both happy about that.

The SBC has been winning races since 1955. I would be willing to bet way more than all others combined. Plus, the aftermarket is loaded with go fast parts.

Very true but i don't understand why ppl compare SBC VS LS there both small blocks made by chevy ! And both are great engines. And both have there owe problems. But over all are the most used race and hot rod engine out there. I owen a 400 sbc a 383 sbc and a 350 sbc plus 2 5.3 LS engines. You can make them hall ASS !

I personaly love the truck. I had one with a 350 cu. in it. Even at pushing 80 i still love to get out and see the drags. I go to dragway 42 if your ever there. Good luck .

And the LiL Falcon is Full Frame rails with full interior, all steel, all glass, even still has the Org roll up windows. So yeah, Tommy is at a disadvantage weight wise 💯. Young fella drove the wheels off that deal tho!!! He's definitely going to be a hell of a Wheelman before it's all said and done!!

@@jasonhastings5538 Tube chassis not only allows lighter weight, but also engine setback, more optimized suspension, etc. It's pretty much puppy kicking... and is why he was able to win with a hurt nitrous engine on gasoline versus a blown alcohol engine on 35 psi of boost. Basically Puppy Kicking... and the kind of vehicle that will run off all the LEGIT street based cars. Basically a different class of car that needs to race similar vehicles.

Do you drain the methanol out of the falcon or do you let it sit? I had issues with chalky looking powder blocking everything up especially the injectors
I never let methanol sit in my go kart after every race day I pulled pump gas out of a gas can and filled the who fuel system with pump gas to flush out the methanol while it sat between race weekends never had any problems cars are just in a bigger scale

I cannot imagine how proud you are to stand back and watch your two boys compare notes and thoughts about the last run, the tune, the track, etc.. They're both outstanding drivers and it shows in every video. And for the knuckle heads :) I was raised on carbureted small block Chevy's and still have one. That truck has everything it needs to go wicked fast.

An aluminum fuel cell with m1 and especially with an open air/oxygen source is a losing battle. It will oxidize. Keep the cell as full as possible when stored. Also add a ball valve to the roll over vent to shut its air source off (when stored). Even after you switch to a stainless cell. Those two tricks will still pay dividends in a happy fuel system with nasty ass M1.
Hey Old Man, Also check your fuel lines and make sure they ARE NOT aluminum also!!!! I fought issues just like this on my 8 sec ACVW. This stuff WILL get into your injectors and clog them TOO.... You might want to order up a spare set of injectors so that you can swap them out and get them cleaned in between races until you get this situation fixed..... Just hinting at ya. PM me with an address and I'll send you some new filters I've got left over from my VW.

Most ppl run race fuel through it so it doesn’t destroy everything when the car is sitting. What we started doing years ago.

Small block Chevy's with a carb have been winning races for a long time and they are still going to win races
I find a lot of LS people are lost in their own world. I've seen them tell people they need to swap out their 350 for an LS to reach their power goal of 300hp FFS.
My old boss once said " you don't need the fastest car to win races, you just need to finish first".
Can't run a racing career hoping the guy next to you screws up so you can win lol

I love the fact that you guys still have some carburetor love, my opinion is run what you like and be as fast as you can with what you have. At the end of the day I love LS’s (have one myself that I’m building) but something about that s-10 with the carburetor showing up and showing out every weekend gets me excited. keep the carburetor and show these new school guys WHATS HAPPENING!! I’m a SBC guy and I love carburetors. I also understand why everyone loves digital fuel injection and LS engines. I have 40 years of experience with carburetors and small blocks which make them second nature to me.
It's mainly consistent times they auto adjust for weather and you get data also helps with seeing problems before it costs you a race low fuel pressure or a cylinder firing funny. I still have a carb on my car but plan to be holley efi next summer.
Plenty of carbed LS's out there. Also If gen1/2 sbc's are second nature then LS's would be a cake walk since they're stupid simple.
@@brucenaylor2043 I understand exactly what you are saying but I can jet for weather changes and my car is deadly consistent. DFI is much better for tuning individual cylinders or weather and all around better performance but it has many more points of failure over a carburetor ie injectors,sensors or any other electronic component in the efi system. Rap a carburetor with a screwdriver and viola its fixed😂.
@@YaM0MsAh03 I have a carbureted 6.0 and it runs excellent. But I live in the Northeast and SBC circle track parts are plentiful and cheap so that is what I prefer. I worked on LS engines since their inception at GM and I know how good they are.

Personally, I think with the heads the truck has, and Billy gets up on the wheel, gets aggressive again, the little truck will be the stud of the shop! I think you all are excited about the performance of the Falcon, and learning, things will come back to the little truck! And, OLE MAN, I’m 67 and a small block man as well. You know what your doing, just don’t tap out health wise, worrying, all of you will figure this multi car thing out! Can’t beat that small block sound singing around 7 to 8000+ on the big end! Bill. Leave carb on it and look into a data logging system. They make them and you don't have to run fuel injection.
You could literally put a Efi ecu in it for the cost of those logging setups…
I have the PCS dash logger. It's a pretty fair price and works good
@@Turbo275bu buddy’s nitrous car… between the RPM dash, the logger, sensors, the msd grid, the progressive controller, I mean your in Efi territory. Toss in the carb in total cost and your well into Efi.
It’s All preference. It all works. But I can just fill my turbo Efi car up and run it all day without touching it. Anything I want to see or change is in one place..one program. Ironically… it’s far more simple and easy.

I already had everything set up and just wanted to add a logger. Starting from scratch, I would definitely go efi. Not everyone is in the same situation.

Thanks again Bill for the update. I do have to say seeing Tommy back racing again is awesome. I’m sure he’s excited, he’s been kicking ass. Just a perspective looking from the outside in, tuning two vehicles for Billy can’t be easy. Wouldn’t doubt it at all if Billy has subconsciously been more focused on making sure Tommy is happy, his cars happy and he can go rounds. Can’t imagine the BS Billy’s been bombarded with, if he was winning then everyone would be on his ass that he’s detuning or not letting Tommy get the most out of the falcon. Then turn the tables and get Tommy’s tunes very close and people jump on him saying the truck doesn’t have it anymore. Poor kids under a double edge sword. He’s doing an amazing job and his brothers racing with him again. I’m sure they’re both happy about that.

The SBC has been winning races since 1955. I would be willing to bet way more than all others combined. Plus, the aftermarket is loaded with go fast parts.

Very true but i don't understand why ppl compare SBC VS LS there both small blocks made by chevy ! And both are great engines. And both have there owe problems. But over all are the most used race and hot rod engine out there. I owen a 400 sbc a 383 sbc and a 350 sbc plus 2 5.3 LS engines. You can make them hall ASS !

If I'm not mistaken, it may be a tube frame.... which may explain why it was so fast with a single nitrous plate and wounded engine.

And the LiL Falcon is Full Frame rails with full interior, all steel, all glass, even still has the Org roll up windows. So yeah, Tommy is at a disadvantage weight wise 💯. Young fella drove the wheels off that deal tho!!! He's definitely going to be a hell of a Wheelman before it's all said and done!!

@@jasonhastings5538 Tube chassis not only allows lighter weight, but also engine setback, more optimized suspension, etc. It's pretty much puppy kicking... and is why he was able to win with a hurt nitrous engine on gasoline versus a blown alcohol engine on 35 psi of boost. Basically Puppy Kicking... and the kind of vehicle that will run off all the LEGIT street based cars. Basically a different class of car that needs to race similar vehicles.

Do you drain the methanol out of the falcon or do you let it sit? I had issues with chalky looking powder blocking everything up especially the injectors
I never let methanol sit in my go kart after every race day I pulled pump gas out of a gas can and filled the who fuel system with pump gas to flush out the methanol while it sat between race weekends never had any problems cars are just in a bigger scale
That s-10 would tip over backwards if ya let that sbc loose! That thing is a monster
