- A few weeks back, I entered a trackday in Donington Park with my Suzuki GSX-R1000R and set a fast lap time. Today I am back at the track with my McLaren 570S to find out which one is the fastest.
Massive thanks to Nolimitstrackdays.com (bike Trackdays) and opentrack.co.uk (car Trackdays) for having me and my toys. And to Michelin for the sticky rubber.
Man, i miss your content, but fully understand your busyness :) Funny though, i used to watch every f1 race in late 90s, early 2000s, and stopped due to various dumb rules etc. After almost 2 decades being off from racing sports, i got into watching motogp from about middle of last season because of you. You are great Suzuki ambassador. I need to come to one of the races to watch live :) Oh yeah, im suzuki's lucky charm, i started watching and yall won last year haha

Did my first ever track day ever at Donington a few weeks back. Applied what I could remember from your vids. Loved every minute of it.
Thank you for showing the myth of cars being so much better in corners because of more rubber on the ground. I hear that every time some one brings up these comparisons. "sure the bike is fast in a straight line but a car will kill it in the corners." Modern bike tires are fantastic in corners.
I hear a that too. It's funny because the friction doesn't depend on the area .
@@stonedmole2351 tires aren’t a straightforward friction equation though. With thermal management, mu above 1.0 (so think adhesive not friction) and load sensitivity, all else being equal, a wider tire typically has more grip.
It's true when we take extreme exemples sush as prototypes in F1//Formula2/LMP1... Nothing on 2 wheels can beat them on track.
@@fumontanaka the big advantage in this situation is not the rubber but the force added by the aero package

A lot of upset car drivers / enthusiasts - you do not know how fast & capable a modern super bike is - yes the car is fast and it will brake quicker in a straight line but a super bike accelerates a lot faster & you brake into a corner to increase front grip, even against the McLaren, the power to weight ratio on a bike is mega compared to a sports car - suck it up buttercup !
There tends to be a lot of resentment from people I have noticed towards bikes. They constantly underestimate how fast modern bikes are.
Cars are also easier to drive fast. I'm a driver that got into bikes and cars are so advanced now it's almost cheating. The traction and stability control in my car is like black magic, I have none of that on my gixxer.
Mclaren 570s is the slowest mclaren XD

At last , a proper test on how fast a modern day superbike is compared to a modern supercar around a track , not just in a straight line going up a 2 mile runway , great video Sylvain as always fella !
This isn't even the fastest superbike you can buy, by quite a bit.

No surprises there. The McLaren would need about 1200HP and slicks to keep up with the Gixxer.
Also seemingly there was more traffic at the car track day than on the Bike ride..
Not on his hot lap in car there wasn't. I was amazed how much faster the bike was.

Edited to add: You'd have to think the car might have had higher cornering speeds due to increased contact patch, but certainly the outright acceleration and deceleration of the Suzuki proved to be too much even for a highly refined 600hp 1300kg super sports car. Plus a bloody good rider was hanging off the pegs too!
I think all we proved here is you’re a God on a motorcycle but a talented mortal in a car.
No, supercars can't touch 1000cc motorcycles. They are not even close. Any decent club rider could beat lewis hamilton in that McLaren.
@@canismajoris6733 I think you'd be quite surprised. The Cup 2R should have been used for a start as a comparitive tyre. Bike accelerate faster than cars. Car decelerate faster than bike. Cars change direction faster than bikes. Apex speeds are similar.

Love the content as always. Gixxer 20 K or less, McLaren 400 K. Bikes are such good value in terms of performance. Also scary that anyone with a bike licence can buy a machine this fast. In Canada at least where there is no graduated licence. Do your test on a Ninja 300 today, buy a Gixxer 1000 tomorrow. Donorcycle indeed.

Is it covered in the same gold foil heat shielding as other parts of the bike?

Yes the car’s tire sensors connect to the Michelin App your phone to give live pressures and temperatures. The App also uses the phone’s gps to record lap times and some other data. Very nice stuff 👍🏻😎
What watch is that you are wearing? I’ve noticed it when you are commentating on MotoGP also.
Even if you do drive the McLaren well, you're one of the world's top motorcycle racers. I liked the result, but this was unfair to the car! :)

are the sensors actually in the tire construction or the valve stem?
For the car “Pilot Sport Cup2 Connect” tires, the sensors are inside the tires.
For the bike “Fit2Go” system, the sensors are the actual valve plugs, so this system is very fast to fit and can actually be used with any tires

"Car felt like it was stuck coming out of the corners" - were you using ESC DYN mode? 570S should just rocket out of corners unless you failed to select this mode, then it just feels dead out of corners because of excessive intervention from traction control system.
Wonder if a 720s with no traffic could beat the bike

Sports car should be faster. You just couldn't push it to it's limit like to did with the bike.
The results may be quite biased. Could it be that the lack of proper skills is the cause the car is crushed? You are a professional rider, no doubt about that. But not as good of a racer when in a car seat.

@@FREDDOX666 Allons Allons, nous savons tous qu'à partir du moment où les voitures sont optimisées aérodynamiquement (ailerons et effet de sol), aucune moto ne peut suivre le rythme. Contre une Formule 1, une moto GP se fait déposer au 2ème virage. En restant sur des voitures de série, plusieurs Porsche battent le record de moto sur la Nordschleife. D'ailleurs il est vraiment étonnant qu'aucun pilote moto ne veuille s'attaquer à ce record qui date de 2012 (7min 10 Yamaha YZF-R1 Andy Carlile).

De plus, Porsche se pointe au Nordschleife avec un esquadron d’ingénieurs plusieurs fois par an pour faire les records. Aucun fabriquant de moto ne fait de meme.
il faut comparer sur un circuit ou la voiture ET la moto peuvent etre poussés à 100% sans risque de mort.
Mais personne peut nier la rapport prix/performance d’une moto. Au niveau acceleration: une petite 600 fume une Porsche GT3 RS qui coute 10x le prix…
I love Sylvian's vids, but the car lap was weak sorry. A professional driver in the car would have been a lot lot quicker - approaching 10 seconds.

Naah. U r a motogp god piloting a superbike. Bring a f1 racer and put him in the car and compare his fastest lap with the bikes. I believe the car will be faster no doubts
Didn't 5th gear do mcalren vs btc car vs bsb bike a while back and the result was the same.

I dont think stock superbikes are faster than stock supercars around a track. A superbike only has acceleration in its favour. Whereas a supercar has way more grip, aero, braking power and corner speed compared to a superbike. If the 570s had been driven by a f1 driver, it would have been a different story. Sylvian is ex motogp god, and he races a gsxr for a job. No wonder he went faster on the bike than the car.
Sounds like we need a rematch with a pro driver in the car 😜 But honestly I can’t see where anybody can make that much of a difference. A sports car on street rubber is just too heavy and aero is limited. Cars get fast loosing weight, adding slick tires and lots of downforce. Bikes are just fast 😉
