Your channel, Sylvain, is the best thing that happened so far during this isolation time.
I agree - it has instantly become one of my must watch channels as soon as I get the notification of a new video
And the worst for those track riding withdrawals 😂
So many tips that I can't wait to try out. Recently received a personal video review after Sylvain asked for people to upload their track footage. I gave him plenty of errors to work on :-) but couldn't believe it when he replied with a fully overlaid commentary the following day. In the first couple of minutes I demonstrate not shifting down quickly and running on when braking - some great tips in this - ua-cam.com/video/FgrmWZhHajg/v-deo.html
Agreed.
Agreed.
Feels like I'm getting free one to one tuition from a master. Brilliant channel thank you.
Our favourite adopted brit. That was interesting as usual, cheers fella.
I was never commenting riding videos! But Sylvain, it's amazing! No fancy cuts or CGI, but pure information, confidence and humbleness!!! Thank you really much for what you're doing!! Please continue! What about the topic like: how to find a racing line in unknown circuit? OR Racing line/Fast line/Overtaking line differences. OR How to prepare overtakes? or actually compete.
Thank you again from Serbia and Russia :)
Yes, exactly! Such great information without feeling scripted or over produced.
+1 for the topic suggestions too!
Simon Crafar Episode 16-18
Yes, those are very interesting subjects for future videos indeed!
@@VState60 well, Simon is good but sometimes his style of explanation or riding stile feels for me much less applicable for my riding. And even if Sylvain is speaking about the top level things I still can apply it for my riding. Which is the most important for me.
There’s one dislike ... Who the hell can dislike his videos. He’s doing an amazing job
Right? Don't understand it either.... But, another thumbs up from me for sure!
Probably someone who thinks they know better but in actuality doesn't.
Don't you guys understand that your "likes/dislikes" affects the your recommended videos, It' not rocket science but it is computer science, jeeze, calm down.
The same kind of people who completely remove their rear brake because they think it makes them faster.
It's the dog - wants some petting.
I will say it again...best channel on the Tube for learning how to ride tips. Thank you man. You channel is the only channel that I get excited about new videos. God Bless.
Sylvain, this is a great series. I am an amateur racer in the US with some moderate success. I have never felt comfortable using the rear brake with the exception of running off track. I always thought it was a major shortcoming of my riding. I do click down a gear as soon as I release throttle and transition to brake, it settles/slows the bike for sure. From a psychological stance however, I really appreciate hearing one of the best riders in the world state that he doesn’t use the rear on a superbike. It actually takes a weight off my shoulders. It sounds silly but racing, as any endeavor you wish to be successful in, is 90% mental. I am really just trying to say thank you for sharing that!
The affermation of knowing what you were doing is right gives you sudden strength and confiednce. Suddenly you go faster.
@@technicalthug When you're braking hard enough to lift the rear up, the rear brake becomes useless. Even MotoGP riders only use the rear brake a little during the initial braking application before totally releasing it, and only start to use it again during the turn-in.
Bro, you are one heck of a teacher.. Brilliant work.. There are many people who have talent, but to be able to teach that talent is quite a different thing. Congrats
It s so joyful to see a real "expert"'s lesson like urs! Hope u have a good evening n prend soin de toi dans cette période mon français!
It's amazing that someone of your stature takes the time to teach your skills to us peons! Thank you and God bless, Sylvain!
These are by far the best tutorials we can find on real track riding. Well done, Sylvain.
Subscribed! Thank you for taking the time to teach riders!
Thank you, Sylvain!
At Laguna Seca I enjoy watching riders entering turn 5. From a vantage point under the pedestrian bridge you can see that nobody has the rear wheel in line, it's always sliding and often side to side. Absolutely spectacular! Doing this over race distance and not pitching it away, is beyond the incredible!
Freaking love these videos!
Dude I was going to share this video on MotoJitsu Discord, and then I scrolled down and saw your comment ;-)
Best video on braking in general. Amazing insights.
So clear and helpful. Thank you

Really, really interesting tips and tricks explained by a very experienced and highly respected professional racer. High quality video too and seems to be a very nice guy. Keep the good stuff coming Sylvain. 👍
Amazing stuff Sylvain. Still cannot believe a World Superbike Champion & MotoGP rider is giving over so much of his time to help mere mortals. 👏
Outstanding explanation from someone who actually knows. Thank you.
Finally someone with the details , great illustration
This is so insightful and easy to understand. Thank you for everything and keep them coming ! It is just amazing
For years I’ve been wondering why more racers don’t use the rear brake, and I stubbornly kept using it, but thanks to your explanation, I realize that it’s not necessary on a production-based bike. Thanks for including the bike data to explain the “when” and “why”. I think many experienced riders and even racers try explaining and what they do, but aren’t 100% sure about how much they’re applying the brake or gas; your use of actual rider/bike data demystifies and clarifies things. I will try to avoid using the rear brake from now on.
I have so much unnecessary fear using the rear brake on track 😂 this video has given me the confidence to use it!
The moment I thought I learned everything about different way to attacking corner, this guy comes up and shatter my whole perspective about cornering. Good video man.
Wait is this guy a actual MotoGP rider?
Holy shit he is!!!! Jesus
Great advice. I don't track, just fast road riding. I use the rear for trail braking into the corner. Your expert advice on changing down a gear at the corner entry for engine braking is a revelation!! Makes so much sense. Less rear brake, more use of engine braking. Thank you :)
I've been riding and doing track days for years, and this was one of the most informative videos I've ever watched. Every other video has just been things I already knew on repeat. For once, I learned something new today. Thank you.
👍
When superbike world championship, never touched the rear brake. Freaking legend! How lucky we are to get this free content
I watched this video once when i started riding. And now 20k km later, I still learning something more by rewatching this video
You watch experienced riders on youtube give great advice, which is wonderful .... And then watch a pro like this guy, this dude's on a different planet 😆, love it!!!
"You see that board, Love that board"....love it. Keep these videos coming!!!
If you’re into bikes this is the channel of the century.
Thanks Sylvain looks like you have two gifts. The ability to ride fast as well as articulately explain to us enthusiasts.
I really appreciate that You want to share Your kwnowledge. Your channel is much much better than many motorbike schools in Poland. I' am wainting for top 50 tips to ride like like You. Best wishes!
There's a rear brake?
GOLDEN!!
Love the content sylvain as a newcomer last year, really enjoy watching the vids mate 👍👍👍
Extremely informative videos Sylvain. Really easy to understand. Great stuff keep em coming!
Thank you for this video! By far the best explanation of the rear break I’ve come across. Some great points of information.
Thank you so much for these videos, it's really amazing to receive such tips from a rider with your experience and with great details and explanation!
All your videos are pure gold. Thanks for sharing your amazing experience with us!!!
Dude, this is exactly what I was looking for. Nobody has explained rear braking while cornering better than you on youtube. Thank you so much! I instantly subscribed. Would love to see that graph for the full corner with lean angle and acceleration added. Also different types of corners would be great as well.
Gday Sylvain, thank you so much for these videos, they are some of the most interesting, informative and valuable "training" videos on the tube. Really appreciate you giving us insight into what really happens on a motogp bike and how it compares as well as all the tips. I hope you and your family are all well at this time. Cheers.
Real gems they are, these videos of yours Sylvain! Massive thanx!!!
When I was a kid riding my bicycle I was taught during straight line braking to apply the front brake and at the same time blend in the rear brake and than release before entering a bend I actually still use that method today when riding my motorcycle seems to work
Thanks for sharing you inner most secrets...!!!
Great Video. Fast Paced, Easy to Grasp and Highly Educational. Thanks.
This is by far the best explanation of rear brake technique I've seen so far, and I've looked up a lot of videos and talked to a lot of people track side about it. Thanks a bunch Sylvain!
Love it. Thank you Guinters. Appreciate the time you take to do this. Sheffield, England.

Excellent advice and easy to understand! Thank you! Keep them coming Mr Guintoli.
Another absolutely cracking video, Sylvain - thank you!
*Just phenomenal!*
Whats even more fascinating is that it takes several minutes to describe what happens in a split second. Amazing
This wasn't a rear brake lesson
This was a life lesson ❤️
U are great at teaching keep the videos coming 🙏
This video explained alot for me as an amateur rider
Fantastic channel Sylvain. No one ever has been so kind to share all those awsome secrets of riding. I learned so much from your videos. I really appreciate your work.

Excellent tutorial Sylvain, thank you!
Magnificent video. Thank you. Please keep them coming
Wow ! Very analytical and articulate gentleman. He explained these details over 9 minutes but this all happens in a matter of seconds. Consider the 1000s of repetitions to gain the muscle memory necessary to compete at this level. Amazing dedication sir. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge.
Good JOB Mate explaining telemetry, i like how you simplify everything for us to grasp!
Best advise Sylvian , your channel is simply the best .. keep the great work going .
Brilliant video Sylvain, please never stop making these awesome videos!
I wish you all the best with the success of this Chanel. I’ll do my best to share it as the information you provide is invaluable.
You sir are an absolute legend and I can’t wait to put it into practice 👍
Absolutely the best motorbike channel on youtube already. Every note comes from your results and your experience. I salut you, as one biker to another. Thank you
Breaking down the elements in a very digestable way! I will definitely return to this video for referencing in the future. Good job 🤙🏾
It's all a finely twined dance haha thank you for taking the time to explain it, this video was interesting and helpful!
Fantastic explanation and I really appreciated the sort of "let's put this in perspective" section toward the end. Earns a "subscribe" for sure!
Thank you so much Sylvain! I asked about the use of rear brake in your 10 tips to ride like a pro, and now you post this video. Bravo! Hope you get more sub!
its becayse of u
Thanks for the great lesson. Hope that your content will be viewed by all bike riders. I have seen so many how to videos about riding. But your tips are the best. Clear, concise and makes a lot of sense.
Wow that’s some amazing insight into racing! Thanks Sylvain!
Simply awesome!!
Fantastic delivery of the topic. Great video, Sylvain.
Excellent tips. Thank you.
Your explanation is so clear and constructive ! You have an ability to teach absolutly. Great video it is so great to get teaching from a world champion thank you :)
Mate, these videos are absolute GEMS !
Sylvain... you're a top man. Thanks for this!!
Oh man!!! Such good help!!! Thanks for all the great advice!
My R6 engine braking is lovely; means I rarely touch the brakes on the road. Learning to be more brutal and knowing the braking limit on the track is what I find harder.
Great vid.
You should practice in an empty parking lot at low speeds. The peak brake pressure is not going to change depending on the speed because the tire grip coefficient stays the same.
Keep them coming Sylvain, yet another fantastic video!
This explains a lot, my RVF 400 has really good engine braking and to be honest I rarely use my rear brake when the bike is flowing. Thanks again Silvain.
Great information, I am a track day lover and this really helps me a lot. Thanks!!!!
Absolutely beautiful and good insight. Learning from a champion wasn't so easy before. Keep ho the good work 🙌
I think it was common for moto gp riders to use very little or no rear brake in the days before anti wheel spin and slipper clutches. Because they would break so hard, many times lifting the rear wheel, that it wasn't necessary. There's a reason behind rear brakes being so tiny.
Moto gp bikes can have such a hard hit on acceleration that some riders used rear brake to control wheel spin.
Excellent video. Especially after coming from a video by a moto vlogger/"influencer" who got in too fast to a corner on an unfamiliar road, slid into a drainage ditch and said "he had to lay it down" instead of learning how to use his brakes.
Awesome! Always getting best and insightful information from a pro which will always be a mystery if Sylvain hasn't done this. Best channel for riders so far. Thanks a million, Sylvain.
Your videos are outstanding both for the knowledge they contain and the friendly, modest way they are delivered. 10/10 Sylvain!!
Loving watching these videos, Lets hope i can put just a bit of this into practice, and try and get through my mental blocks, Awesome Vids Sylvain.
Thank you Sylvain! I didn't get this at first, and needed to watch it several times, but it's gold, mate!
You sir are a nice guy!! ... I love that you've taken time from your fame and giving something to the guys on the up and come! Thanks!!
Thnx 4 d tutorial sylvain. Greatly appreciated n definitely cleared some questions i got. I remembered kevin schwantz said that he didn't use d rear brake at all during his championship season. Now u explained it all so well n i understand it now. Once again, thnx
Great instruction and thanks for sharing your expert experience.
44 thumbs down REALLY!
You could NEVER know more than this guy!!
Thanks Sylvain. This was a subject that I was really keen to understand better as a rookie racer...👍
Watched again in detail, great explanation ! Thank you
The more I learn the more fun I have - thanks for all the fun
Your channel is best, for wanna be racer... thank you, thank so much
I feel so happy and joyful. Best thing in You Tube
Very nice material. Lately, I've been thinking about going to a track, but I don't have one bit of experience with riding like that, so this helps a lot. Thank you.
