I think it comes down to filtering. You don't have to be a depraved jerk to be a youtube celebrity. But being a depraved jerk definitely gives you a leg up with getting attention and cranking out content without concern for harm. And then once you get big, its means you've been doing this stuff long enough that you've really got a record of horrible behavior behind you. Thus the depraves jerks self select for being self perpetuating media empires unto themselves on youtube. At least until they self destruct.

The Nikacado thing makes me think of GlitterForever in that way they both faked some level of mental breakdown, and then kinda just came back and was like "haha aren't I smart". As a fat person, I never liked Nikacado Avocado because his persona in his videos were very clearly trying to promote the “Lazy, delusional, gluttonous fat person” and the internet really liked using him not only as a punching bag but also an example of the “average” fat person. Most people don’t take the time to understand that it was obviously a persona, and seeing the evolution of it from his old videos into the newer ones made it clear, but it’s what made him infamous so he played in to it more and more even to the point of creating straight up fetish content. It also was such a public example of how different people treat fat people vs skinny people because everyone hated him so much as a fat man and he was actively memed on for his weight and gluttony and his “grotesque” body bc he made only fans content, however, as soon as he lost the weight all he got was praise. Everyone just forgot how creepy he was and all of his controversies and many even forgave him because he did a good job for losing weight. Now I often see people use him as an example for other fat people to “have no excuses” and he’s used against the community… again. I wouldn’t be surprised if he now went into body shaming content to be completely honest.

The insanity that is Mr Beast bragging that their product has less calories. Ya bro that is one of the MANY PROBLEMS!!!! Kids should never have to worry about counting calories. As someone who struggles with an eating disorder and getting enough calories to SURVIVE, anything diet related targeted towards kids makes me sick to my stomach.
Plus, calories=energy. A child of 4-8 needs about 1200 calories/day, children 9-13 need about 1600 calories/day. Reducing a 300 calorie lunch to 200 calories is just weird, it's not even a third of the intake that a child needs in a day. Most kids aren't eating breakfast, so by reducing the calories they're basically saying, "We don't care if you get enough to eat, just buy our products.". 200 calories is a snack, not a meal.

I misread your comment at first and thought he actually wrote that book, and it didn't even phase me. At this point his brand has spread a concerning amount that he could put his dumb face on basically anything and it would sell. I've seen some toys he's selling in my local supermarket that had practically nothing to do with his content. I live in the UK too, so his brand really is everywhere. How he got this far from his original content of making fun of children who were just recording videos for fun baffles me. It's a sad reminder that almost nobody who has large amounts of money is even a decent person, let alone good. Honesty.... the horrible lunchable rip off that preys on kids and him working... with KSI and Logan Paul... was the first thing I heard about that made me very glad I blocked Mr.Beast for my kid MONTHS before all this happened. As someone who has been watching Stephanie Soo since 2019 I don’t think people understand just how disgusting it is for Nikocado to deliberately use her husband’s mask in that ‘two steps ahead’ video. It feels like a threat, like he’s taunting her because he knows that she is scared of him. He took pictures of her security system and of her husband’s face without his consent despite him wishing to remain anonymous. He was always a very threatening and mean person and I believe the reason she stopped doing collabs. I urge people to go watch her videos on the subject because it highlights just how scary of a person nikocado avocado is and why it is horrifying that people are giving him credit.

Idk, I think Americans are just banking illiterate. When chip&pin, and tap technologies came to Canada, the US was going bonkers over how "insecure" they thought it was. Pretty much every bank in Canada does mobile check deposits now, and I haven't heard any huge uproar about people abusing it. Because abusing it would be a dumbarse move. It also seems like a failure on the part of Chase bank. People should have a withdrawal limit on cashed checks until they clear, and the limit should be below what the customer is easily able to repay. My bank requires an actual reason to increase your limit, and my limit on checks is $100, cause who the fk is writing/receiving checks these days?! Literally the only check I've received in the last 14 years was because of a clerical error. Everyone uses direct deposit and e-transfer, which are verified to be coming from an account that actually has the money.
i think the only thing that nikocado did that was even sort of a social experiment was that he proved (at least partially) that weight will change others perception of you. The second he revealed he was skinny, all the support flooded in even despite everything that he had done. when he was overweight, his fans were blatantly encouraging his bad habits, people were being horrible to him for his weight and not his actions (for the most part,) it was so easy to be horrible to him because 'haha, look at that fat guy whos making a fool of himself' and people more cared about his weight and that he was easy to make fun of. Now that he is skinny there is a FLOOD of support for him. So many kind words, the same people who tore him to shreds for being overweight are now jolly that he's thin with no other feelings about him or his controversies besides his weight. Do i think that he was just a victim in all this ? no not at all. However, i think he inadvertently demonstrated how normalized/easy it is to harp on any overweight creator for JUST their weight and not their controversies whatsoever. To me it was crazy to see all those people who hate watched him immediately flip and be kind, only on the condition that he is no longer overweight.
Honestly, as a fat person, I was not surprised that people immediately switched up. Disappointed and frustrated, yes, but not surprised. The society hates fat people. Like you said, he was always mostly made fun of for his weight, he was also often used as an example of what ALL fat people are like. I don't even think that most people knew he was a creep, just that he was a weird fat guy who ate a lot of food and embarrassed himself in videos. I personally had no idea about most stuff he's done, I just knew that he was clearly playing a character and bringing fat people down. The fact that a lot of people didn't pick up on the act is probably because they assume every fat person acts like that. And then the guy became skinny and it meant everything was fine in their books, so they stopped. There's also a phenomena of people literally thinking fat=evil and a stereotype of what bad people usually look like (ugly, fat, messy, all that) so now that he no longer fits the stereotype, he's no longer a creep. I wish people actually looked at anything beyond physical appearance (and that physical appearance was a neutral characteristic).

Okay but here’s the thing with that Latin argument, I’ve studied it for 7 years and can very confidently tell you that fetus doesn’t translate to “little human being” … that’s not even close actually. There is no Latin word for child other than little daughter (filiola) or little son (filiolus). The word fetus has two meanings. One meaning is birth or offspring (not even specified to be human) and one as an adjective for something that has just been born so it’s a stupid argument
Have to do my duty as another latin nerd to point out there's also "puer" and "puella" for boy and girl, which are often used for children. But yeah, Kirk's argument is just flat out wrong and even if it wasn't, still dumb.
I feel like everyone is gassing up nickacados weight loss but am I the only one who is put off by it? Don't get me wrong, I think it's amazing that he's managed to accomplish such a huge feet but I can never forget or forgive the years he put in to further damage the image of fat people. It's so easy for people to hate us over nothing and he constantly proved those people right by being everything they hate about us. Ugly, lazy, delusional, gluttons- the list goes on. So while I think it's great that he's managed to lose all that weight, I think he's still a bad person who's done bad things. And it's great that he will no longer be targeted by fatphobes, but the rest of us are left holding the bag.
You're definitely not the only one. There's more issues with Nikocado than simply the ones you stated. There's a long list of problematic things he's said and done, and him losing weight by no means justifies his past actions. It's true that a lot of people seem to look past his behaviour - either because they dont care or dont know -, but there are also many who still hold him accountable.

Fetus in Latin translates much closer to being forth, or offspring. Not little human being. But even if it did that's not a valid point even remotely, we define language, language does not define us. If the people alive thousands of years ago though that a fetus was a little human being then let them, but we know better. Look at other languages, too, does their equivalent of fetus mean little human being? If we started calling a fetus a bean would that suddenly mean that were not growing offspring, but legumes?
And the thing is the Romans didn't even prohibit abortions because the fetus did not have the same legal status as a born individual. The rights of a fetus were limited, and its legal recognition only began if it was born alive. The fetus was considered *part of the mother's body* , and its existence as a separate individual was not fully recognized until birth. The fetus was seen as a developing being with *potential* rights (depending on who the parents were obviously), but its status as a person was not fully acknowledged until birth. They didn't see fetuses as "little uwu human babies" because that's not what they were or what they are now.
It simply translates to the same thing. It's a Latin word and the meaning hasn't changed. While their medical knowledge was limited compared to ours, they did of course understand a human was developing in a pregnant woman, and they called that a fetus, just like we still do.
That's something that really shocked me about the anti-abortion people when I first started engaging with their beliefs a little more. They LIE. Like, all the time. A lot. As a youth in university I had heard that anti-abortionists lie, but my political scientist mind thought "everyone stretches the truth a bit, or leaves out little bits of info, to bolster their own argument, especially in debate settings." Then an anti-abortion person joined a club I was in, so I started seeing a lot more of their arguments and "educational" content. And they don't stretch the truth or avoid conflicting evidence like I assumed. They just LIE. Constantly. And they aren't just blindly following the talking points without doing their own research or something. They actually know that what they're saying isn't true. When he says that "fetus in Latin" line, he's not some idiot who can't do a simple internet search. He's a liar.
A bunch of the OG youtubers who called out the Temu lunchables actually have companies of their own where they actually care about the quality of their brand, and at the least, as far as I am aware, they never targeted kids and claimed it was a healthier alternative to anything else on the market. If anything I've only seen actual unbiased critics praise the products they might sell. Plus, DanTDM is a father, I think his critique is pretty justified.

All that I really think of all of these people who have gotten “Cancelled” throughout these years are just pathetic people. For example, one of them is the nick avocado, he acts like he is the greatest plot twist of all time when in reality all what he did was just pre-record videos and do weight loss journey hiding all of his toxic behavior and excusing it as being a character I don’t think he is that important for people to be talking him about on and on and on for all of these years every time something goes, viral it stays for a few weeks then people forget about it until a little thing rises up in their memory
I don’t doubt the character he was playing because even though some of the nikocado lore involving Orlin was sad, you can't know that they're not just actors. That being said, people have predicted his weight loss for years, this isn’t the biggest plot twist of the century. Side note his bird is really cute

It's certainly impressive that he was able to commit to recording two years of videos and then lose all of the weight that he's gained over the course of his channel. But that's it. Like the commitment is certainly admirable, but other than that he's still an awful person and his villain monologue is still cringe.
Honestly, I always enjoy watching FunkyFrogBait's videos. It really shows how much effort they put into them with every new one they post, and the way I'm always informed about the things that happen in the internet is a nice touch as well. That, and helping me to keep learning English. Keep it up!

This is incredibly, derangedly specific and I feel it with my whole self.
As a fat person, I never liked Nikacado Avocado because his persona in his videos were very clearly trying to promote the “Lazy, delusional, gluttonous fat person” and the internet really liked using him not only as a punching bag but also an example of the “average” fat person. Most people don’t take the time to understand that it was obviously a persona, and seeing the evolution of it from his old videos into the newer ones made it clear, but it’s what made him infamous so he played in to it more and more even to the point of creating straight up fetish content. It also was such a public example of how different people treat fat people vs skinny people because everyone hated him so much as a fat man and he was actively memed on for his weight and gluttony and his “grotesque” body bc he made only fans content, however, as soon as he lost the weight all he got was praise. Everyone just forgot how creepy he was and all of his controversies and many even forgave him because he did a good job for losing weight. Now I often see people use him as an example for other fat people to “have no excuses” and he’s used against the community… again. I wouldn’t be surprised if he now went into body shaming content to be completely honest.

The insanity that is Mr Beast bragging that their product has less calories. Ya bro that is one of the MANY PROBLEMS!!!! Kids should never have to worry about counting calories. As someone who struggles with an eating disorder and getting enough calories to SURVIVE, anything diet related targeted towards kids makes me sick to my stomach.
Plus, calories=energy. A child of 4-8 needs about 1200 calories/day, children 9-13 need about 1600 calories/day. Reducing a 300 calorie lunch to 200 calories is just weird, it's not even a third of the intake that a child needs in a day. Most kids aren't eating breakfast, so by reducing the calories they're basically saying, "We don't care if you get enough to eat, just buy our products.". 200 calories is a snack, not a meal.
Dr. Mike made a video about it and he pointed it out too. Kids won't be getting _enough_ calories if they eat only one pack at lunch.
Besides the lack of calories, the lack of micronutrients is also a point against it

As someone who has been watching Stephanie Soo since 2019 I don’t think people understand just how disgusting it is for Nikocado to deliberately use her husband’s mask in that ‘two steps ahead’ video. It feels like a threat, like he’s taunting her because he knows that she is scared of him. He took pictures of her security system and of her husband’s face without his consent despite him wishing to remain anonymous. He was always a very threatening and mean person and I believe the reason she stopped doing collabs. I urge people to go watch her videos on the subject because it highlights just how scary of a person nikocado avocado is and why it is horrifying that people are giving him credit.
I hope she gets some legal counsel. He seems like such a freak

It also seems like a failure on the part of Chase bank. People should have a withdrawal limit on cashed checks until they clear, and the limit should be below what the customer is easily able to repay. My bank requires an actual reason to increase your limit, and my limit on checks is $100, cause who the fk is writing/receiving checks these days?! Literally the only check I've received in the last 14 years was because of a clerical error. Everyone uses direct deposit and e-transfer, which are verified to be coming from an account that actually has the money.

i think the only thing that nikocado did that was even sort of a social experiment was that he proved (at least partially) that weight will change others perception of you.
The second he revealed he was skinny, all the support flooded in even despite everything that he had done. when he was overweight, his fans were blatantly encouraging his bad habits, people were being horrible to him for his weight and not his actions (for the most part,) it was so easy to be horrible to him because 'haha, look at that fat guy whos making a fool of himself' and people more cared about his weight and that he was easy to make fun of.
Now that he is skinny there is a FLOOD of support for him. So many kind words, the same people who tore him to shreds for being overweight are now jolly that he's thin with no other feelings about him or his controversies besides his weight. Do i think that he was just a victim in all this ? no not at all. However, i think he inadvertently demonstrated how normalized/easy it is to harp on any overweight creator for JUST their weight and not their controversies whatsoever. To me it was crazy to see all those people who hate watched him immediately flip and be kind, only on the condition that he is no longer overweight.
Honestly, as a fat person, I was not surprised that people immediately switched up. Disappointed and frustrated, yes, but not surprised. The society hates fat people. Like you said, he was always mostly made fun of for his weight, he was also often used as an example of what ALL fat people are like. I don't even think that most people knew he was a creep, just that he was a weird fat guy who ate a lot of food and embarrassed himself in videos. I personally had no idea about most stuff he's done, I just knew that he was clearly playing a character and bringing fat people down. The fact that a lot of people didn't pick up on the act is probably because they assume every fat person acts like that. And then the guy became skinny and it meant everything was fine in their books, so they stopped.
There's also a phenomena of people literally thinking fat=evil and a stereotype of what bad people usually look like (ugly, fat, messy, all that) so now that he no longer fits the stereotype, he's no longer a creep.
I wish people actually looked at anything beyond physical appearance (and that physical appearance was a neutral characteristic).

There is no Latin word for child other than little daughter (filiola) or little son (filiolus). The word fetus has two meanings. I feel like everyone is gassing up nickacados weight loss but am I the only one who is put off by it? Don't get me wrong, I think it's amazing that he's managed to accomplish such a huge feet but I can never forget or forgive the years he put in to further damage the image of fat people.
It's so easy for people to hate us over nothing and he constantly proved those people right by being everything they hate about us. Ugly, lazy, delusional, gluttons- the list goes on.
So while I think it's great that he's managed to lose all that weight, I think he's still a bad person who's done bad things. And it's great that he will no longer be targeted by fatphobes, but the rest of us are left holding the bag.
You're definitely not the only one. There's more issues with Nikocado than simply the ones you stated. There's a long list of problematic things he's said and done, and him losing weight by no means justifies his past actions. It's true that a lot of people seem to look past his behaviour - either because they dont care or dont know -, but there are also many who still hold him accountable.
Just the way he talks makes me wanna scream "put him on a watchlist!" The way he thinks of other people as ants and how derogatory he sounds is giving me serial killer vibes.

If you're doing sport activities where you're becoming dehydrated and need to replenish salt because you going for a long time then yes, have more electrolytes are good, but be realistic the people there marketing these for are kids 6-10 12 at most, kids having more electrolytes than they need can become unhealthy if they're not exercising.
Another thing is why do kids need something "healthier" if the brand has clear misconduct then yeah an alternative is great, but 6-12years shouldn't have to be going up to their parents exclaiming they want MrBeast lunchables then explain how it's better because it's less calories.
That just feels like it's setting up kids to feel more conserned about eating less calories and like that will lead people to develop eating disorders.
