Hi Nicole, thank you for this information. I live close to Orchids by Hausermann and plan on visiting them this weekend. I sort of stopped buying orchids September 2022 because I was not able to take care of them and most perished! I just started with orchids in 2021 and still learning. I have a lot of seedlings and a few mature orchids. So far the remaining orchids are hanging in there!! Your channel is my favorite because we have similar growing conditions. I am learning a lot from you. Planning on rewatching your past videos and will take notes. Hopefully I get better this second time around! 😊
Loved the video!! And I've also bought from SVO and Gold Country Orchids when they are at local shows and love them!! I also love Plantio La Orquidea and they have an online presence as well!! I'll have to try some of those Hawaii vendors sometime!!
Love, love, love Krull-Smith and Planteo la Orchidea in addition to the ones you mentioned. Both K-S and Planteo have amazing customer services and are extremely generous with their knowledge😍
I live way too close to Hausermann and you are so bad for my wallet! It’s overcast and cold here in Chicago; it’s a perfect day to wander the Hausermann greenhouses.
@@NicoleDeanna Let me know if you come to Chicago! I'd love to go there with you. There is another orchid grower here (in the same town!) I'm embarrassed to admit I've never been there.
Hi Nicole. Thanks for sharing your favorite orchid nurseries. I get a lot of my orchids from Orchid Web and shows. I belong to an orchid society so I’ve also bought a lot from our guest speakers. I have bought from Hausermann and SVO. 🥰🤗👏
I think it really depends on what you are looking for and your budget. For award quality (younger) plants go to Diamond Orchids, Big Leaf Orchids, Orchid Eros and Exotic Orchids of Maui (and SVO of course). For a more general selection of blooming size plants Brookside, Carter & Holmes and Palmers in addition to those you mentioned. There's also J&L and Waldor. I'd say H&R but they are going to shut the business any day now.
I like Diamond orchids, I've gotten some cute neos from them. I haven't ordered from the others with the exception of Carter and Holmes, my Paph Pinocchio is from them. I hear good things about Brookside!
@@NicoleDeanna you can't go wrong with Brrokside if they have something you're interested. The plants are good, they pack well and they don't drag you over the coals with shipping. Just don't buy from Seattle Orchids. The plants are small and/or garbage and what they charge for shipping is criminal.
Great video, Nicole. I am an orchid hobbyist of 20 years and have a collection of about 150 orchids across 20 species. Most recently I have gravitated toward Akatsuka and Hausermann as my top faves. I was so happy to see they are in your top five!
Love Hausermann’s, Carmela’s, and SVO! I also love Sundance Orchids-Florida, New World Orchids-Minnesota, Brookside Orchids-California, and Natt’s Orchids-Chicago
Nice to see you Nicole. Hausermann is a nice vendor. Cater and Holmes is a nice vendor here in South Carolina. They been around for a long time as well.
I’m in NJ and Waldor orchids is towards Atlantic City. It’s such a cool place to visit but they’re only open to the public Friday and Saturday. Definitely worth a trip!
@@NicoleDeanna yeah go when it’s warmer out because you can make a day of it since it’s so close to the beach too. Their green houses are so cool to look around!
Carmela does ship out to other countries. Didn’t realize you would have a lot from Carmela. And oh, of course SVO… I wasn’t gonna buy any from this new Catts list but Michael suggested some to my wife at our live stream and ended up buying some… 🤣 yeah. You and I have some similar ones, don’t we? 🤪 Your collection made me re-think about artificial lighting.
Akatsuka Orchids is one of my favorites too. Amazingly, plants come from Hawaii to Virginia as quickly as they do from much closer nurseries. Also, I have recently become interested in Paphiopedilums (never thought I would), and Paph Paradise in California has been a very good source.
I was not interested in paphs until one bloomed for me last year and I thought it was so cute! I have so many, but it's another wonderful rabbithole to get into.
One of the first orchids I ever had was Lynleigh Koopowitz and I promptly killed it. Three or four years later I got Paph primulina from Akatsuka, and I was hooked. Adorable - and she keeps popping out a succession of blooms. One drops and the next one is in the pipeline.
I have three that I have ordered from other than Hausermann, my favorite. Mystery Garden Store in The Philly/NJ area. A small nursery. Krull-Smith Ardent Orchids on Etsy.
