My VR headsets microphone broke awhile back and the sticks have drifted, but yet I still watch gethips video because it’s entertaining as hell
You might be able to get them replaced if it's a meta headset, i wasn't covering under warranty anymore yet they replaced them for me almost no questions asked.

Yeah i have a quest 1 and it finally died after 5 years of hard usage. Rip. Now i just watch vr videos and cry 😭😭
64 GB Quest 2 owner here, no future Quest headsets should launch with 64 GB of storage, it is not longer enough. UNLESS there is an option to use a micro SD card to expand storage.

@@jonahlopescardozo775 Nah they're right, like what if you buy campaign games that don't save progress on deletion, you have to keep that game if you don't wanna lose your progress, and if it's a big memory game, like saints and sinners 1-2, you can't buy any new games, truthfully the best time to have gotten a quest 2 was when they kept the price for the gb upgrade and made a huge loss on profits to grow userbase

Also maybe the reason that they are considering dropping the quest 3 s with controllers being an optional accessory is to attract quest 2 owners by allowing them to pair their quest 2 controllers to a cheaper yet more powerful headset (probably even cheaper without controllers included)

Just now bought a $200 Quest 2 after demoing VR for 11 years dating back to the very first public Oculus Rift prototype model. Crazy to remember the original Oculus Rift dk1 prototype's 800p display with a screen door effect similar to Nintendo's 2019 LABO cardboard VR utilizing the Switch's 720p display. Sampling Rifts and Vives through the years as resolutions climbed, I'm super impressed with the Quest 2's 1920p resolution even 3 years after first demoing it, so much so that my 2017 PC can't really take full advantage of it as most games hover around the 1200p mark to maintain playable framerates.
I genuinely am satisfied enough that hundreds of games from the early days of VR all the way to today in 2024 are available on the Quest 2, but that's not even why I bought the set. My goal to enter VR was for wireless SteamVR; gaining access to even more titles than the Quest Store (including the killer app Half-Life Alyx as well as VR mods for the first two Half-Life games), taking advantage of Steam's ubiquitous deep discounts, and earning achievements in VR games as I would in most Steam games.
In fact, I'd like to hear from any Quest 1 owners who mainly use it for Quest Link and Air Link like owners of later headsets are now using Steam Link. Has PCVR given the Q1 a new lease on life this far into its successors' lifespans?
Fresnel lenses suck. I'm saving for the Quest 3. I haven't touched my Quest 2 in dayyyys.

I got a q2 off eBay for $165 with the battery strap back in January before the price for a new one dropped to $199 w/o the battery strap. I got a great deal and I'm still having 2nd thoughts.
I might sell my q2 for $100, buy a q3 and look at the $65 as a rental charge 😅
i have a quest 3 and its amazing definitely worth getting it (my eyes are on the headset almost every day lol)
I'm still amazed by the difference between the difference of the sweet spot, I can see it with the headset off, ipd max and minimum and I have the ipd 65, when on the quest 2, I had it in between 3-2 to have it just good.
A little bit of vignette on the edges, much cleaner, much crispier, looks like the screen are 2x better, I've read that people also said that on Reddit.
Passthrough a little grainy but works wonders.
Feels a little more squeaky and more fragile than the quest 2 which you can throw it a building and call it ...
got the quest 3 and literally cannot stop playing it, I am saving up for a htc vive or a valve index so that I can use my pc to play vr games, butt the quest 3 is freaking amazing for what it is
I sometimes wish I didn't get into the VR scene just so i dont have to keep worrying if i have a good VR headset or if it's getting outdated

Idgaf but also I'd be happy to see a direct upgrade to the quest 2 for people to snag up and get into VR. We need more ways to enter the VR space and I know a lot of people just don't have the $500 for a quest 3, and refuse to buy a slowly dying / discontinued product like the Quest 2 soon will be.

I've been waiting for this Q3 lite for a while, I have 0 interest in AR especially since it's new tech and everything is fancy tech demos. I had years of fancy tech demo games with VR and now that the games are better I don't want to take 4 steps back just because of some new tech.
AR has been around longer than VR, it's just been touched way less by developers, up until Apple released their atrociously overpriced garbage.
@@jordankelly4684 I don't know why you think this, I tried rudimentary VR in the early 90s and the first virtual simulator was made in 1957 and the first VR headset was developed by Harvard Professor Ivan Sutherland and Bob Sproull made the "Sword of Damocles" HMD in 1968... along with countless other VR projects.. Even Nintendo had a VR headset in development using Super Nintendo hardware not the Virtual Boy. So yeah home slice AR was not first but always kinda around at the same time but you are correct about Apples HMD being "atrociously overpriced hot garbage"

I have a major issue with mr zuck absolutely hating my country, not officially shipping any of their VR products here, i'm brazilian by the way, so every quest headset that you can find here is always like at least 2-3x the original price. That being said, i own a quest 2 now, and would definetly like to buy a quest 3, currently running for arround 3x the original price on good sources here.
I only use the quest for gaming, and I pretty much just use it as a wireless PCVR device. Because of that, i kind of don't care about the quests processor. I would enjoy a version of the quest 3 that has the newer controller, lenses, fov, resolution and all that, but with like, 64gb, same processor as quest 2, and no need for augmented reality, because that would make it the most optimized possible for MY use case, and would make the lowest possible price, so when it got tripled be the second hand importing it would be more accessible stil.
But better yet, if zuck would just cut the crap and ship to my country, i would probably just buy the standard quest 3 instead of the lite version, as it would have everything i need, without having to worry about potentially having to buy controllers separately.
Let's Just see if it's any good When it comes out.

Honestly, for people that already own quest 2, quest 3s won't make it good upgrade path, UNLESS it would have pancake lenses due to alot of quest 2 users are pcvr gamers which at that point doesn't matter which cpu you use.

10/10 would NOT buy the Quest 3s. Already got my normal Quest 3 and I'm very happy with it. I think Meta should be focused more on improving the Quest 3 rather than making separate headsets to make the market more confusing. And they should really bring back the name "Oculus". (P.S. They aren't making it for people with a quest 3 already, its for people who don't have a vr headset. Its better for developers and players because both the quest 3 and the 3s will have the same chip so games will not need 2 seperate versions/updates. It also won't make the market any more confusing because meta plans to take the quest 2 off the market so they will still be selling only 2 headsets. The quest 3 is not at all an entry level headset and meta needs a new headset for people who dont want to spend $500 on a vr headset and the quest 2 is nearly 4 years old now, so it's starting to show its age in new releases.

As a full-time Bigscreen Beyond user, I am here to say maaan, fresnel lenses are *not that bad*
Is that because the Bigscreen lenses are bad?
@@dtz1000 the Bigscreen optics are razor sharp in the center, but the edge-to-edge clarity is not as good as Meta fresnel lenses. This mostly has to do with how tiny the lenses and panels are on the BSB.

Well damn, I was quite excited that I ordered a quest 2 a few days ago, for 250€ + 150€ for various accessories (still waiting for it to arrive... damn third world country in Europe...).
Looking at these leaks now, and especially hearing you mention the differences in chipsets and the fact that Q2 might be getting pushed out of the market, makes me a bit sad.
İ ordered a quest 2 too coming today, i dont think it would get outdated and lose support fast. There is probably like 2 years left of quest 2 support life. İt might not get the good games on it but still support is here to last for atleast 2 years if i am right. Even then, quest2 would still be a good pc vr headset.

Hardware don't mean nothing... If more big games don't get developed... My opinion! On that note, I dont give a flying F what is coming out, if they don't put out quality big games. Such as half life alyx. Been like 2-3+ years since a high profile big game for VR, that wasn't some stupid addon.... A VR from the ground up game.
I don't think I'll ever probably get the quest light considering I have a quest 3 and having two quests is just kind of a pointless endeavor but thanks to your videos I was able to get the quest 3 and understand how it works thank you very much you help me decide on the price and when to get it
