Quest 3 numbers may never never surpass Quest 2 numbers. Quest 2 was the perfect storm of pricing, a pandemic, and supply chain issues that seemed to affect everyone but them. Pushing 20,000,000 units of Quest 3 is a pretty high bar.
They may be hidding some then as the 512gb version is sold out on most countries

I think I'll get a Quest 3 a year or two later. For now I'm happy with my Quest 2, I always use it with my gaming laptop for access to Steam VR games, I get only Steam VR games but I mostly use Quest 2 only for VR Chat most of the time. Plus I'm trying to save up anyway for other important stuff like getting my first car eventually (need to wait until the used car prices and inflation goes down, hopefully).
This is my thought process. Until there are several games that I really want that are exclusive to the Quest 3 (which wouldn't be likely to happen any time soon) I don't really see the need to buy a new 500$ Vr headset.

As a VR enthusiast I went and bought the quest 3 Release day. AKA today. And i can say that even though it has some minor flaws these VR youtubers are telling the truth ITS AMAZING

@@Gamerexpert3399 so far the comfort of the base strap is the biggest thing I can think of. I can only get about an hour in before I really feel the weight on my forehead.
does the quest 3 have the face tracking like the quest pro does? that's what's really selling me, but if the quest 3 has it then I won't get the quest pro

I’ve always appreciated your “no bullshit” (and funny AF while not giving any) approach. And I’m so happy that you’re courageous enough to be pure to your craft. And, like you said, not dissing other creators, I think many of them are awesome. However, this is “putting on your big girl/boy boots” kind of stuff and I hope many of them start to realize they need to be *unfettered* in their ability to speak their minds OR be open and utterly transparent that you are being paid (whether in kind or in product or in cash) to speak highly of Meta’s products more than not.

I have a 512 GB model and it's legit.
Definitely an upgrade in every aspect except the microphone oddly enough.
The passthrough didn't really floor me, but it is far better than the Quest 2, and how good it is heavily depends on your lighting situation.
Still not sold on mixed reality, but for PCVR in particular it's amazing.
I do see myself using passthrough, but not for gaming much. More for having a virtual screen for consuming media content, at least as things stand now. The clarity of video is impressive and it's viable as a media screen, even if it's not exactly an OLED. The clarity is much improved and makes watching a movie or online videos with it a viable use case.
That said, I do have a 4090, so I am able to use God Tier quality on Virtual Desktop and take advantage of the AC1 codec.
I got the quest 2 last summer to play DCS. I even built a new pc for best performance. Im still disappointed in the quest 2 overall but for the price its fine. Being my first VR experience I was shocked when I was sitting in a fighter jet in DCS. I had no idea! I wonder if the quest works for Gta 5?

Quest 3 will work with any PCVR title with a link cable or decent wifi.
You do need to mod GTA V for VR. It doesn't automatically work. A game needs to either support VR natively or have a mod that does it.
It's just a matter of whether your PC can run it and at what settings.
Dude, I'm still on Quest 1. I promised myself I'd upgrade to a Quest 3 when it came out. Here's hoping I have the money to get one and they are available to buy when I do. I'm not getting a Quest 2 if I can help it; but my local pawn shop has them cheap. I want to get back into VR development again.
Man, I'm having the same problem. Got the Quest 1 ever since it came out and still have it and it works...somewhat well. I think its time to upgrade but I am broke lol
@@Retr-zd7xv downside is support for Quest 1 will be dropped at the end of the year. I still intend to make use of it; Hopefully we get root access as a parting gift like Oculus did with the Go.

I originally found your channel when I was considering getting the quest 2, but ultimately decided to wait for the 3. Gotta say I think it was the right call. Lol I'm still on The OG Oculus(the Rift), though I can't say I've used it a whole lot. I really appreciate your content and can't wait for more!
As a late quest 1 buyer I fully expect the quest 2 userbase will eventually be left behind but not nearly as aggressively. Quest 2 was a slap in the face for me; 3 months after i got my headset (2 of which was dealing with rma of a dead controller) and the new version is out for $100 less with a huge upgrade and exclusives. Games that did have both often put no effort into making the quest 1 version not look like dog sh$t or made updates with quest 2 exclusive content.
That reminds me of when a 3090 Ti was launched last year for $1,999 and that same year a 4090 comes out for $1,599 while being significantly more powerful and added feature sets. It happens, sometimes you have bad timing and you get the shaft.
I think anyone that got the Quest Pro is likely feeling similar right now

@keoriebelzner339 I'm in a similar situation. I ordered the 512Gb model from Amazon over a week ago and they stated all along that it would arrive on the release day. I then received an email yesterday saying there would likely be delays due to supply and demand etc. I was still hopeful until I received another email today saying it should be delivered between 13th-14th.
Firstly, I booked a day off work so I could sign for it and avoid potential delivery issues. Secondly, I don't know how they managed to cock up on this. Surely, they have an exact tally of how many items they have in stock and a matching cut off number of preorders for the Q3? It seems very odd that they only decided there would be an issue yesterday.

I heard that they had this idea but as of now they don't offer it. Maybe some retailers would step in. To be fair, Q3 uses completely different tech so there is not much part to reuse, only to recycle.
I think the reason you got conflicting stories about whether or not creators had to sign a "non disparage" document is pretty self evident.

Just got my prescription lenses and honestly the lenses/displays and the color passhtrough are the biggest upgrade (so far) that I've noticed. One big issue is that the battery packs that would let you charge and play on quest 2 do not work on quest 3 while you're using it. Upgrading to an 18 watt quick charge battery pack might be a possible fix!
Pre-ordered and got today love it but definitely going to get a different strap thought but the mixed reality is amaximt

I would buy quest 3 at the end of next year. Pancakes, bigger resolution in native titles, room mapping. That hand tracking demo sometimes feel laggy on Q2, turning felt almost impossible.
Just got mine yesterday. The FOV is much better imo. The passthrough is good but not great. Kinda grainy, does better with more light. You get used to it though after the first hour ish then you kinda forget it's there. The AR experience kinda disappointed me because when you go to touch the AR object you just disappear behind it. It has no sense of your body vs the rest of the room so it feels like it just superimposed an object into the real world vs the object actually being there. With the hardware on the quest 3 I'm assuming they will fix this in the future
I just bought my friends used Quest 2 after he upgraded to the Q3. My last VR experience was the GearVR with a crappy phone, so I'm having a pretty good time with it still. Even if they stop making nativeVR games for it I can still use it for a wireless PC VR headset, and just upgrade my PC as I always have
i got the quest 3 early from ebay but honestly it overheats so quick even on simple games like gtag and i think its kinda sad although the new passthrough because its so cool to see my room with color but thats really all its got
I forgot that the quest 3 was going to be releasing this year and got a shock when I went to Walmart and it’s just chillen there.

This is why I buy 90% of my VR titles on Steam and use my Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop. Way cheaper than a valve index or HTC Vive and totally wireless with basically no latency (As long as you can afford a half decent PC gaming rig)
Glad you made that comment. Just purchased a Quest 3 today (first VR set since PSVR 1) with the hope that it will combine well with my 13900k/4090 combo. Glad to hear it works well between a Quest and PC.
I've been using Virtual Desktop religiously since about 2020 and it's been leaps and bounds ahead of Air Link in the past. Well worth the $20 CAD I paid for the ability to have wireless PC VR (as long as you have decent WiFi at home and your PC is hardwired into Ethernet).

Love your vids man, best VR channel on yt, because you ARE independent from Meta. I think your vastly overestimating how many units Quest 3 is going to shift. For me, who uses the headset almost exclusively for PC VR outside of the odd blast on Walkabout Golf, it's nowhere near as a substantial upgrade as I'd want for nearly the double the price of what I paid for the 2. The reason 2 sold so many units is because 1) It was cheap, 2) People couldn't leave their houses and 3) The current gen consoles couldn't be bought easily. The 3 has none of these things driving sales. Wasn't there an article a week ago saying Meta have reduced their estimated sales by 3/4s or something? Can't find it now.
by December 31st I will definitely have a quest 3

I got a quest 3, it's my very first VR headset and the very first one I've ever used. Insane experience, it's legit amazing. I spent 3 and half hours for my very first session, played 2 games and it legit felt like I wasn't in my room, I felt like I was somewhere else entirely, the sense of scale you get is crazy, you never really realize how big things are until you're in a literal sense, right there.
I have a lot of negatives, mainly the passthrough is advertised to be waaaayyyy better than it actually is. Not sure if my unit is one of the odd ones but everything was extra extra grainy, like really bad grainy, had wayyy too much bloom everywhere, my phone and monitors where completely unreadable. Of course, not everything is bloom and gloom (not sorry) if you're playing a MR game it's just not that noticeable.
After hour 2 of using the headset I noticed there was some red + shape object floating around that persisted even when I closed games so I'm not entirely sure if these are dead pixels or what but it was distracting.
Headstrap is uncomfortable and I'm going to be forced to buy a new one unfortunately, but for now, I'm using an anker battery bank to extend my play time.
Now I haven't used the quest 2 controllers, but considering all the videos I've watched, I believe quest 2 has better thumb tracking. Your thumb doesn't really track very well because duh no rings, it only really snaps to the position where it currently is, like for example if you're using the joystick, it will go there, if you're using the buttons, it will go there. The only time where I felt it was somewhat being tracked was when I was putting my thumb in the new curved spot the controller has, but even then it was just snapping there. Index finger looks to be the same, and for the last 3 remaining fingers it just uses the side buttons.
As for the tracking behind your back and above your head, I believe they are doing what Nintendo does with their controllers, it feels more like motion control sensors with added prediction so the quest has an idea where the controllers are in a 3D space. It's a really good solution and its about 98% accurate.(number is arbitrary, just to give you an idea) Obviously if you want better tracking, other alternatives are better, but this is just good enough that its not too much of a big deal.
Honestly I could keep going about this headset but I don't want to make a whole essay. If you're a first time vr boi and you want this, get it. It's legit, it's really good. Just be aware the software is very lackluster and you'll be gaming more on a flat screen then in VR for that reason. But if you're okay with spending $500 + accessories then yeah. First time experience is fucking amazing, there's seriously nothing like it.
If you have issues with your passthrough, and with that red object you're seeing, you might want to get a replacement before it's too late. There seems to be some quality control issues with the quest 3 and some models are worse than others.
Could also be your lighting area for the pass through

i have a genuine question! For a while the view in my Quest 2 felt great and 3D felt very immersive in vrchat and other apps, but at some point, it started to feel like the 3D layers were 'flipped' in VR. My depth perception felt off, the guardian boundary now overlays my avatar in vr chat and meta avatar, rather than the other way around, and the vr chat menu overlays my hands rather than my hands appearing in front of the menu. I have tried deleting and reinstalling every associated program, and i have tried exchanging for a new headset. I thought at first since i noticed the issue with VR chat menus that it was local to vrchat itself, but then i began to notice that things felt off in the meta startup world as well, and with the look of the boundary. I am at a total loss for how to fix the issue, and it is really taking away from my enjoyment of VR. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing it and what I can do? I am assuming the issue is more so with the device itself or the oculus software, but I don't know where to look since none of the factory resets / reinstalls seem to have fixed the issue. I :(
Hey love your channel I think quest2 and quest3 are great, quest2 is far from done and is good enough for at least 4 years more I think meta shouldn't worry about critics at this point they have much better position and probably will surpass the Facebook times in the next couple of years if they play their cards right.

Guys for my quest 2 I have the elite strap with battery should I plug in the battery when my quest is on 100 or when it's low if I plug it in when it's low it sometimes still drains the battery but I'm guessing if I plug it in when on 100 it would last longer?

If ever Project Ventura 2024 is real then for the projected price that may be the one that will kill the Quest 2 but for now i am observing and slowly saving. I still will hold on to my Quest 2 until i see progress on exclusive games (VR not AR/MR)… and updates and bug fixes… perhaps also if Project Ventura announced and specs are published…
If Ventura have the same CPU as in Q3 then yes, Q2 will be dead that exact day when sales open.
@@vadnegru agree it is rumored as the Quest 3 lite with cut features but keeping the XR gen 2 chip and the price close to or just so slightly above Quest 2 price which makes it affordable for the masses
I'm so ready to upgrade one day, it could be random hype but if the quest 3 lite is cheap enough, even without some of the cool features, I guarantee it will be better than my old Quest 1 and I'd love to play some VR again.

I think the idea of Mixed Reality boardgames like Demeo, and reimagining of classic boardgames that can also unlock the additional video game mechanics into a MR boardgame is very much a missed opportunity.
I’ve already said this many times now on other channels, but I would to play reimagined strategy boardgames like Axis and Allies or Risk, but now being able to have unique map view that would enable having Fog of War in a boardgame, something only RTS/TBS PC games like StarCraft or Civilization could do.

Yes, the commercials show Demeo being played, but they’re not really showing what MR boardgaming could/should be. They have mostly been focused on other MR experiences.

I can see the quest 2 living aside the quest 3 for the next few years as a low end entry point to VR. Quest 2 is still a very good headset. And it can still be used as a very good PCVR headset as well.
I hope so since I just bought the quest 2 as my first vr headset cause it was way cheaper and I didn’t have enough money for the 3, I am happy to know that they have to release games on both at least for now
@@madcat3.0 As someone who just upgraded to the Quest 3 from the Quest2. Yes the quest3 is better and its still early days and games are going to upgrade but the Quest 3 is pretty $$$. Theres too many quest2's out there for developers to not wanna still support quest 2. Quest 2 is still very capable headset. Going back and fourth when using the headsets yes the Q3 is better in every way but the Q2 isn't really that big of a down grade. Q2 is still a very good headset. And as a entry level device that works well. Also Q2 PCVR is still pretty good. I would say the jump isn't PS4 to PS5. More like PS4 to PS4Pro.

Honestly this is getting crazy...i JUST bought a Q2 and i am already planning on a PSVR2 next month and a steamdeck for Christmas and this is missing uo all my finances 🥴 at least i can connect to my steam library i guess 😭

The main question i'd have is, is the quest 3 and significant enough upgrade over the quest 2 to be worth buying? Currently I have not gotten the headset yet but im inclined to say yes.
I know the reviews are a little scuffed by people being partnered with Meta and such, but I mean its not like they lied about any of it. It has pancake lenses, it has AR capabilities, its passthrough is improved (but not perfect), I can definitely understand sticking with the quest 2 but I think there's enough on the quest 3 to upgrade for me personally.
It's Quest Pro for half the price. All reviews of it were positive minus the price. Sad that Q3 doesn't have eye tracking but it's still quite packed as is.
@@vadnegru mine just came in, the marketing was definitely misleading. You can see screens *sort of* but just barely, like you can text but you wouldnt be able to read what text you get back. other than that you can see stuff fairly well, and yk in full color, *just enough* AR is a fun gimmick but not enough i'd be able to work on the computer without taking off the headset.
However since its lighter its easier to take off and put on, so its an upgrade through and through.

Quest 2 is what really got me into VR. I ended up spending a ton of money on a gaming rig. I upgraded to the Quest Pro and now the Quest 3. I don't agree with everything Meta does but I am a Fan of Meta/Oculus headsets. I am not sponsored and I am really enjoying the Quest 3
Yes I have 0 involvement with Meta the only interactive I have is throw my hard earned money to them and they gave me the Quest 2 which is the greatest $300 you can spend

The quest 3 is dope but the 512 gb one is probably $200 too expensive. I'm definitely glad I got the 3 and it's definitely heading vr in the right direction.
Been wanting VR for a long while now, and I'm thinking of getting the Quest 2 simply because it's all I need. Why would I pay double for improvements I don't need. Currently the only 2 games I'm thinking of getting with my headset are Beat Saber and Blade and Sorcery. And from what I'm seeing online the Quest 3 doesn't improve those 2 as much as you'd think with a headset double the price
Are you going to get the meta quest 3, or consider buying the meta quest 4 pro when it releases?

Yep seemed like all early access videos until yesterday were being read from a script. They were all saying the same thing and excluding the same thing. I'm glad you didn't go that path. But I guess I'll never understand until I'm in such a situation and have bills to pay
I'll wait to see what games and when the price drops
Meanwhile I'm still chilling with my Oculus Rift S with no plans of upgrading any time soon.
