I got to see them in the early 2000's in Vancouver, B.C. It was their last performance in Canada. It was the best ever concert I have ever seen (--and heard, duh). I had a chance to meet Phil Everly after the show but I got impatient and now I'm disappointed I didn't wait.
Interesting to me that ES introduces "Be Bop A Lula" as the Everly Brothers' latest recording, when it was a track on their first LP, but not released as/on a single until 1960. Probably Archie Bleyer's call. Never heard a South Carolina association with the Everlys before.
Oops, Ed. South Carolina? I wondered if the duo mentioned the slip elsewhere - found nothing, but Ed Sullivan Show artists bios (Everly Brothers included) are found at www.edsullivan.com/. Nice write up. The Everly Brothers appeared June 30th, August 4th, October 6th, 1957; they returned several more times before their memorable performance in (and correct me if I'm wrong) USMC dress blues. Last performance on Ed Sullivan Show was Feb. 28, 1971.
Ah, the 50s when Ed Sullivan thought his orchestra would be an improvement on Don and Phil's guitars. Pathetic. They were plenty on their own without any orchestral help.
Don was soooo handsome n singing cool !!
Both handsome ☺️
Agreed! I honestly think Don was cuter than Phil. That’s just me though 🥰

I was standing in Kresge’s in Detroit when this came on the loud speakers. It was awesome!
