OMG, this is great! Going back to their pure and original rock 'n roll roots, while putting the great Everly Brothers' harmony to these songs. By any standards, this is an AWESOME performance.
Love this clip SO much ! seems they really enjoyed themselves playing in such heavy rock n roll style. And they demonstrated plenty of capability to do so .
I wonder if they ever performed this in any of their concerts. It’s quite a musical workout. It either would have gotten the crowd going or perhaps turned off a portion of fans who were used to their more mellow stuff. The more I watch it, the more I love it.
Oh my ! I've been searching for this for a couple of years---I had it and someone had it taken away--it was one of my all-time favorites---So I thank you so much! I LOVE THIS !
This is absolutely AMAZING!!! Thank you soooo much for sharing, Bruno! Do you have details of this show/performance or any other details? RIP, Beloved, Phil. Love you always! ❤️
Wow!! Well, that was different. Proves just how versatile they could be. Although, to be honest, it seemed like Don was totally into it and Phil was along for the ride hanging on for dear life. Doesn’t quite seem like Phil’s style but still - what a great video clip. Such a total departure from their usual. It was kind of like they were saying: “Hey, we’re more than just ‘Wake Up, Little Susie’ and ‘Bye, Bye Love’.” I would have loved to hear them do all of “Aquarius” and “If I Were a Carpenter” - the little teasers they did were wonderful. Kudos to the drummer for his percussion work in this medley, too. He was really fabulous.
I agree! I don´t know if they performed it in any of their conerts but they played it on The Everly Brothers Show that was a summer fill in for the Johnny Cash Show in 1970. This medley to me looks like something Don started off, cause as you said, it doesn´t seem to be Phils style so much, but I think an average audience who knew less about them wouldn´t notice. Awesome performance anyway! By the way, the drummer is Al "Tiny" Schneider, 1/3 of their band at the time, "The Tabernacle Three".
@@v-g-z3689 I think they did perform it at a few concerts. If I recall correctly, they might have done it at the Fillmore West and also at a concert in Anaheim. I wasn’t sure if the drummer were Tiny Schneider or Larry Londin. Both were fabulous drummers.
@@cak8132 They did perform it in Anaheim in 1970, it can be heard on the live album "The Everly Brothers Show", I don´t know about the Filmore West. Yes, both were! I think they had Larry Londin on all three albums in the 1980´s
Al (Tiny) Schneider on drums, (The late) Bobby Knigge on bass (R.I.P. amigo) and yours truly on guitar. Thanks for watching. Those boys were some of the best ever.
Always saddened me when The Everly Bros. and Ricky Nelson dumped their true personnas in attempts to stay relevant to the times. In my opinion they never made it. Still all time greats but they weren't hippies and never could be.
Yes it was sad, guess they had follow changing trends to stay afloat. I am so glad they did these videos, can't imagine not having them to watch, it would be unbearable 🎸
rosmia2 I think this is a brilliant clip and I love their performance - they are not even trying to be Hippies lol. The Evs continued to diversify right until they made their final studio recording. The trouble was the public - they only wanted them to do the old stuff - so their new stuff never got the appreciation it deserved.
They never became hippies (as if!) and this was a just a great rock 'n' roll clip. No trying to be anything - they were just doing what they were good at.
Surprise, surprise! This was considered “hard rock” at the time? Really? Not that it matters, but, Don was more into this number than Phil... somehow it just didn’t seem his thing. Crazy time the 70’s. Did anyone notice how the light shows a very smudged guitar Don was playing? In all the video’s I’ve been watching their guitars always appearing pristine. Again, not that it matters...😉
Sie waren so süss und wunderbar, auch rockig.😊😊😊😊😊
This is just fantastic…..what talent these boys had.
I don’t know how many times I’ve played this…can’t stop watching! These two are nothing less than amazing!!!
Their voices AND their looks….WOW‼️
Same here, Candice.x
@CandiceToth: It’s quite the tour-de-force performance. And they both look fantastic.
Got to say Dons voice is absolutely incredible and phil matches him every step of the way. Lost count of the times i have watched this :)
OMG…What’s that 😮 for me one of the best!!!!
I love it - again and again!!
Oh those gorgeous faces and voices!!! Be still my heart...I'm young again.
marga,
❤❤❤❤❤❤
👍👍👍👍👍👍
So ist es....
its great
This has got to be one of the best clips I've seen of Phil and Don....just amazing!!!! (Presses replay button) xx
loving the 'if i were a carpenter' part of the song...can't stop replaying this :)
so am I !! just short phrases make me intoxicated ! Don's vocal in here is more sensual than Robert Plant. (R.P. sang same tune later)
@@siobhanwalsh7182 I'm glad I'm not the only one ;)
These are about the two best-looking, sexy guys I've ever seen. Oh, and they could sing, too!
Great medley,,,,great memories

Amazing talents. These boys could sing the phone book and they would be entertaining

This is fantastic! They got better and better through the years.
What a find. Absolutely fantastic. Such a talented duo. Loved the backing group as well.
Absolutely brilliant, R.I.P. Phil
Love their performance here. I grew up watching this video with my father. They could suit any song perfectly. The best harmony duo of all time! ❤📀
Just can't get enough of this !!
Performance n looks of both of them appeal so manly n gorgeous !
Backing band is excellent too.

As far as i know this was the only time they did this
@@siobhanwalsh7050 I think they may have performed the medley at the Fillmore West. Not sure of the date though.
@cak813 there’s another UA-cam just audio of similar medley at Fillmore in 1969.
Love to watch these gorgeous guys rockin' out! Love how they play those guitars.
Brilliant, What a find. Thanks for uploading :)
RIP Phil, and thank you so very much
Omg. I love this!!!!
Brilliant medley so different to their usual songs i loved it
very talented guys

They never sound old. amazing!
Did they just add lib this with maybe a bit of structure rehearsed in advance this is absolutely amazing
Best video on UA-cam

They were just the best
you never cease to amaze me Erik!! This priceless! thanks
I missed it too.
:) :)Bet I've played this 10 times to-night already --glad I sent it for you Ginger.
Brilliant harmonies from both of them seems Phil took back seat again
They said the only thing they never argued about was who would sing lead.
@@Aurora-tp3dy I don't know where you get your information, but they never said any such thing.
Phil sang the harmony part from day one.
@@sammccue500 Got it from their mouths. The point is they argued about everything except that.
You should always include the word "talented" with the Everly Brothers.
Wild guys .who was the drummer he was superb.
The drummer was Albert :Tiny" Schneider, the late Bob Knigge on bass and myself (Sam )McCue) on guitar.
Based on info in the sleeve of the 2-record set, it is Tiny Schneider
I've never seen this before. It is astonishing. We missed out on so much because they fell out over politics.
Trust me, it had nothing to do with politics. I was there.

Fantastic. You guys tore it up.
@sammccue where was this actually recorded? Is it in Anaheim?
I wonder why Phil and Don never tried to play electric guitars.
Is this clip from the ABC show or from another TV show ?

No, it WASN'T considered "hard rock" in 1970. lol
It was just plain Rock N Roll.
