All Google Nexus Phones: Stuck in Boot Loop, Keeps Restarting, Wont Turn On? Try This First!

- If your Google Nexus phone or tablet is experiencing a boot loop where it constantly restarts then you may want to try this first. This should work about 40% of you out there.
Many times the issue arises from a power button problem that may be loose, stuck, jammed, or broken.
If the problem started after the nougat update then this method will not work as it is a software problem not hardware.

I'm actually shocked that this actually worked!! Fingers crossed that this is the only time I'll have to do this! Thank you!
omg this actually worked for me. I hit the home button against the side of my hand and fixed the problem ! thank youuuuuuu
Thank you so so much!! The same issue was happening to my phone and I solved it in a few seconds! Good luck to everyone trying to fix their phone!!
I tried this, but it didn't work for my issue. I just had the boot loop happen to me today and after spending the entire afternoon on the phone with both Google (who wouldn't do anything since I didn't buy through them) and Huawei would not help because I am 2 days out of warranty. So basically I have a $600 brick sitting here and two companies telling me that I just need to go buy a new phone. Not sure that I've ever seen such poor customer service, especially over something we all know, they know is an issue.
dang man that sucks. you know alot of people especially with the 6p had this issue after update. My method will only work for some. For you it prob software. sorry i can't help.
Today I got this issue, and if i put android 10 to nexus 6p, will that problem goo?? :(
most users have tried re-flashing factory images or wiping their data to no avail. Once you contact Google, the company will send you a refurbished unit. Though Google says the bootloop is strictly a hardware issue, it is curious that both Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X devices are suddenly affected by it after the most recent Nougat update.
I went backpacking and got sweat all over my phone. It wouldn't turn on no matter what I did. This method worked. Thank you!!
FIXED WOOOOT!! DOPE!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Worked for me, thank you!!!
Wow. I freaken pressed my power button like crazy and it worked!
Can confirm banging the power button on my wrist solved the issue. The problem at first was the loop boot and it not even allowing me to restore the phone using the method of holding the power button + the volume down button. I then realised if I held the power button it would show the charge logo with the lightning bolt but nothing else. After banging it on my wrist (with some force) it allowed the device to show the charge logo again but this time logo had the bars going up and down (showing the device was charging). I allowed the device to reach half charge and pressed the power button and it worked. (Pixel 1 - 128gb)
This actually worked! Not sure how long it will last but works for now. Thanks!
+Wei-Kun Chung it will only work for a small percentage but glad it worked for you. I was thinking about taking this video down cause too many dislikes. Anyway if u can sub that be awesome.
Your description of the power button replacement is incorrect. You need to resolder a new one on.
broken by boot loop - less than one year google offer refurb not new
most expensive phone i've ever bought with the shortest lifespan
I agree 100% i was excited for my 5X... i think nougat created the problem, i have to wait until next tueasday for my replacement but this will be my last google product and lg product.
thanks
My Nexus 6p has the same issue, I went to a Huawei Service centre in India and they said as my phone just crossed the warranty period. I need to pay 25000 INR ($ 374) which is ridiculous to get it fixed. I have called Huawei support and they said they cant help. I will never buy anything from #Huawei.
Thanks, I got my to start so I could at least backup some pictures. But I'm just going to get another phone since I need something reliable.
I was stuck in boot loop and found this video. thought it was a joke, but actually, that was the problem and it fixed it. thanks!
+Dan steinberg this will only help a small percentage of nexus phones its usually software issue. Glad this worked for U. U r one of the lucky phones without a paper weight Nexus phone now.
It works on my phone, thank you very much
wow this actually worked without me having to do a FDR!
What is the plug in mean??? Plug in to charging cable to plug to usb cable
Surprisingly it worked, thanks.👍👍
it worked bro thankyou..😊
I don't have the boot loop problem, my phone restarts every now and then though
holy smokes this totally worked for me!
Thanks, this actually worked.
What about if anything happens to your hand?
I fixed it. I first had too boot to the boot loader (hold power button+press volume key down) once I was at boot loader you have to let the phone sit for about 10 mins then click recover mode. (this is the only way you can boot into recovery mode with out the phone going into bootloop. once I got into recovery mode I then clicked factory reset wipe data. once it wipe the data. the next step is I had to take the phone apart. disconnect the batter cable and do a "power flush" by removing the battery cable, I then was holding down the power button for 30seconds to 2 mins and then I reconnect the batter cable and turned it on, this process took about 10 times to repeat. every time I repeated the process I got closer and closer to the home screen. by the 10th time or so I was able to make it to set up screen. YES I did loose data and some photos . however it worked. Good thing I had CM backup to back up 90% of my phone contacts!!!! I hope this helps anybody. oh a perfect video to disassembled the phone search UA-cam "jerry rig nexus 5x"
aka I figured this method might fix the phone because I had a old Sony VAIO laptop that would not start up, the fix for that was removing the laptop battery and then holding down the power button to remove and power/juice or left over static power, turns out that fixed the laptop, so I applied the same method with my nexus 5x. probably the last lg phone I'll ever buy.
+Angel Martinez great detailed info hopefully this helps others. Thx man!
ILuvTrading okay so this is the verdict. this method temporary works. This issue has to be fix by Google asap! looks like my 5x worked for about a good 30mins. then it reset for about a good 2 mins however what's weird it was bootloop for a good 2 mins and then all of a sudden it went back to normal. so at this point its very tricky :(

this was an issue with my Nexus 5, but my 6p died after the 7.1.1, noting worked and i got a brand new one
woooow it worked for me :D thaaaaaanks
I tried it I got excited because Google popped up but it shut back down 😭 lol. Idk what else to do I was on the phone texting someone and it just shut down. I haven't been having any issues with the phone that's why I'm a bit confused lol.
OH MY GOSH! THANK YOU!!! Thanks so much for this video! I've been searching for a solution for a few days now. I thought I had to buy a new phone.
Thank you THANK YOU!!!
Very nice it's working 😁
I worke for Huawei and let me tell you this is not a hardware issue people , lets think about it, isnt weird that after the N update versión all the Nexus Started to have the same problem???
But Google keep saying that this is a hardware issue , how come ????
Google Fi has some phones under $50....you could also get a new phone. You just have to transfer your sim card into your new phone and follow the activation steps.
Thanks bro
worked! dont know how but it did
After buying flagship phone you will get like this feature then I'm going to buy keypad mobile
got the bootloop issue after updating to Nougat on my Nexus 6P. This didn't work for me. Anyone able to solve the issue?
+Jay Cobarrubias can u boot into safemode and see if still boot loop?
Im having the same problem, updated to nougat and nkw it's stuck
Jay Cobarrubias go into fastboot that fixed it for me
so I had mine send back. the motherboard wasn't working so they had to replace it. So hardware malfunction in my case
I have this problem on my Nexus 5X. Started yesterday. Can't figure out a solution :|
Same problem happened to me. With Huawei asking for USD 400 to repair it I will try this method. One thing is clear both Huawei and Google don't deserve to compete in the flagship top of the line phone market.
Request all who have faced this problem to use #AndoidBricksNexus hashtag to tweet about this. Your strong feedback on this will help them not get away with it :)
