As a side note on batteries: I ordered some off Amazon, which 3DR later told me were not original 3DR batteries. So just watch out for that.
I order from this link and got the real ones back in November, I also ordered from another link even cheaper and got the fakes in December.

Thank you for the all the vids, they have been very helpful. I got a solo back in December when the prices got really low and I figure it was a good time jump in quads despite knowing of 3DRs situation. It was your video on the heliport bag that sold me on it, and I tried to find it. I watched go from 59$ on amazon to 99$ then 149$ and by the time I was ready to get it it was sold out. I eventually ended up getting one from B&H for 199$ and don't regret it one bit. I checked many sources in my search for the bag and even emailed thinktank, their response was less than encouraging saying they had no idea if or when they'd ever restock it. That being said, I guess the surge in people buying bargain solos has caused them to do another run because they emailed me today saying they had about 40 in stock at 199$. Anyone interested in the heliport bag I'd suggest heading to the thinktank site before they are gone. Good luck and thank you again for the great videos!

Nice video just got me 3dr was going to get xiro but 3dr platform seems to have more option the amount of camera and mods and its upgrade abilities this drone still high end

Thank you Peter for the informative but time sensitive video. I wonder why you didn't cover the prop guards by polar pro. I wanted to let others know that the polar pro prop guards interfere with the rotation of the master air screw props due to the difference in geometry (different profile but sits lower and can't raise with spacers due to lack of threads).
I never liked any prop guards, so I didn't recommend them

Great videos, . . . i have a question, i really hope you can help me, i just got a 3DR Solo and i have a GP3+ BLACK but i dont even get a live feed on the solo app. when i was updating the remote it came out on photo mode but the video feed was black with small color lines like a video from the 90s, Lol... do you know something or some idea on how to fix this ?

Hi, I am going to buy my first drone and I want it for high quality flying montages and to have some fun (I really love VR idea). I dont decide between the Parrot Bebop 2 (with included VR goggles) the Phantom 3 4K (and wait to upgrade it with VR goggles) or the 3DR Solo (upgrade the gps and then buy VR goggles). Wich one do you think I should buy??
I think the smart shots that the Solo has lend to very cinematic looking footage, but a skilled pilot could do it also with the Phantom.
Hi, hello, I want to buy a 3DR, but before I do, I want to ask you a few questions, making the upgrades you recommend, such as the GPS cover, changing the antennas to bigger ones and changing your GPS to a GPS / Glonass So it would be worth buying the SOLO and doing the upgrade? One or you would go to another drone
cggarzongomez I think for the price you'll get a great tool to make videos with, that said you are on a platform that was made several years ago and it would be doubtful that 3DR will make any improvements on that. The Solo has been discontinued and so has it's only camera source the Gopro 4. There are new drones that have better cameras and better flight times, but the 3DR smart shots leave the others far behind. This is getting to be very tricky as to what to do, whereas before it was an easy pick to go with 3DR.
Also, I bought a used GoPro 4 black with 3.0 still on it. My question is do you recommend upgrading the firmware? Is the only advantage of 3.0 the auto start function?
I am still on 3, besides the turning of and on via remote, there seems to be an issue of a "zoomed" in image on the view when using certain resolutions. It is recorded fine but what you see is different.
Nice info but you can beat the hell out of these prices on eBay from reputable dealers. Besides there are tons of props that will work and much better leg extenders than the ones listed. BTW check the foldable props that are available. Bottom line if you do some research you can easily save a ton on 3DR products, except for batteries, but give some of us time, we are working on the problem. As to the dark side, DJI has dropped everything under $1400 except the Mavic so bend over and take a long hard one from DJI. Guess if they sell less birds less people will learn what horrid customer service DJI has.
Hello, is the best buy deal with the solo and the gimbal for 299 still up? I clicked the link and it went to the same site you were at but it didn't say it came with it, but it didn't say it doesn't come with it. I know it's been a few months but I was wondering if the gimbal will still come with the drone if I ordered it. Thanks.

I can only guess but, but we may be within 9 months before they stop selling.

Not necessarily, it's been hit and miss whether you get one of the Rev B GPS boards. They said it came with the directors bundle.
+The Basic Pilot then I'm screwed, i just ordered a non bundle from amazon, since they wouldn't ship the bundle to Puerto Rico. We'll see when it gets here. Thanks for the heads up man.
