Unfortunately I can't use rivets or grommets throughout for this project, I should be able to secure the edges with a couple rivets but the main span is going to have to be glue.
If you give the kydex a good scuff with a coarse sand paper on the bonding surfaces, I bet you will get better adhesion. Gives the adhesive something to “bite” into. Also, put some weights on the pieces (or clamp them together) while the adhesive is curing. Good luck.
@@tonyduong3275 I will definitely give that a try , thank you ! I did no surface prep prior to the test , I'll also try cleaning the surfaces with rubbing alcohol and see if that helps.
I used PVC on the Kydex shiny to shiny side to see if it would before I drilled into to put my rivets in I made knife Kydex knife sheaths and it failed! I know they make different PVC Glues for other plastics I wonder if some of those would work??
Thanks for sharing your test. My suggestion FWIW let them all set overnight, Several of them wont cure in less time. Also for consistency start with 1"x2" pieces. Put an eyelet in one side of each. Adhere the sets all overlapping one inch. With the eyelets on the outside edges. then suspend them by the left eyelet and hang weights off the right eyelet . I hope i explained that clearly.
I just happen to have a project coming up soon and I was wondering what to try. Thanks a lot. I'll try the pvc glue.
Thanks for doing this test. Helped me out alot with what I wanted to do.
Great review test...it saved me a lot of my time testing
Thanks for testing the glues .
I’m surprised they held up that well, I’d use rivets or grommets . 🤷♀️

You should give all the adhesives a 24 hr curing time. Even Cynocrialates (instant glue) need 24 hrs for a full curing time.
