Check out www.Wilsonart.com for all your counter-top, laminate, edging and adhesive needs.
In this video, with the help of the Wilsonart company, we completely update our kitchen countertops with new HD laminate, crescent edging and new laminated backslash. We also installed a new drop in sink from American Standard (www.americanst...) to complete the renovation. In this video we will show you how to prep the kitchen cabinets to accept the new counter, how to install the laminate and how to put on the designer crescent edging.

I hope that isn't your every day water pressure...
Na its better then that. Bath was running and even though I got it working without a trip to the store I need to get a hose extension so unpinch the line a bit.
@@DIYTyler for high water pressure you can install a www.amazon.co.uk/Grundfos-scala2-3-45-Pools-Booster-Converter/dp/B07BSPW92Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1550393646&sr=8-2&keywords=SCALA2
Looks great! Aside from the custom edge, is there any advantage to the way you did it versus having a template made and getting pre-cut countertop from the home store?
Those counters look amazing, great job!
Wow looks amazing . But must people don't have all the tools you have .. love the edges . Looks very professional.
Great work! Looks like a pretty cool family as well.
Very nice job Tyler make look so easy like the way you explained details on the trim part thanks for all the information for materials and tools
I don't care what you say... That's a ton of work. Nicely done!
You was right; it is not an easy project , but the engineering paid back this time. You made literature review, plan and then executing. So looked like an easy for you
Nice vid! I really enjoy the variety of projects you do.
Real craftsmanship, awesome!
you explain that as well and your precise working method is simply awesome! 👍 greetings from my channel 😄
Thanks man, glad it seems the point is getting across!
Wow,, you guy did an excellent job, and the way you explain as you go along, outstanding..
Nice work Tyler it looks great. Hopefully that's not your water pressure that you showed us, if it is then it needs some serious work doing to it.

Fantastic video! Voice-over is so much better than the music videos that have become popular as of late.
So you like better with no music???
When a video ONLY has music and no voice, I feel I'm missing important information. Voice allows the content creator to communicate the details that make a project so much more interesting.
Awesome job!! I love your little helpers!!
Tip for the future: I made counter tops for years. Reverse the file and pull it towards you. More control that way.
Question for ya, since you obviously know about countertops..
Do you know if its possible to break down an angled corner, where its mitred, on a laminate countertop? We had our kitchen remodeled about 4 yrs ago, its an L shape, and id like to remove one small section of the L, in order to make that section longer. I was hoping to have it rejoined to the other counter, at the mitre, without having to scrap the whole counter...
Thank you
Hope it makes sense the way i wrote this..
@@splash5974 i need to do this too with a wood side strip
@@mariebasara
I ended up tackling it myself. I just set up a little straight edge and used my circular saw to cut the counter at the mitred joint. It wasnt too bad.
Great video, but I have one question. On the flat edge by the refrigerator, you applied the laminate to the edge before you attached the crescent edging. How did you then deal with the raw end of the crescent edging when you put it on? I'm installing Wilsonart laminate in my kitchen, and I've never used the decorative edging before. I am running into this problem on either side of my stove where the ends will be partially visible. Thanks.
Dubyel I am curious about the same thing.
He stated in the video he wanted a flat strip near fridge. He did not add the crescent to that small area.
@@anitacurnutt7641 But the crescent is still applied to the front. Since the molding does not go down the side, the end of that front molding is bare where it stops at the refrigerator, and no effective way seems to exist to cover it. I ended up just leaving mine that way because it turned out that the stove stuck out enough that you can't see it. I assume the same was true with Tyler's refrigerator.
Nice job, I had worked at Lowes designing kitchen cabinets and countertops in 2009, 10 and 11. First time I had seen the Wilson Art product. Very nice. Great job. Thanks for sharing.
We are very pleased with it. Thanks for watching Tom!
Awesome work and great video! Timestamps down in the description would be really helpful for DIY guys like me. Just helps us go back and find important milestones. Keep up the great work and appreciate all you do.
Nice work. Great explanations.
Hi Tyler. Nice job. Great production on video. I'll come back to see more.
Awesome man !!! Thanks !!!! Sooo detailed this is exactly what I needed
very nice job done good videos thanx ehhh
Nice work, for me gave u heard of epoxy that hardens 24hr & looks like marble
nice job up untill you used the water base glue. Sorry that glue does not work on an area of high humidity. I've worked in this field a long time. Formica spray puts out the best clue. for the sticks your using go out and buy 1/4 inch round wooded dowels, they work the best. With the sink never use Silicone, best to use plumbers putty.
came out great! I don't remember if you have a lathe in your shop, but a turned leg on the front of the coffee pot station, and half legs butted up on the wall in the back (3 legs total, 2 full round and 2 half rounds) would look awesome. stained to match your base cabinets... maybe a video idea for the future... team up with nick ferry if you dont have a lathe.
Wow awesome job! Looks outstanding. Major Honey Dew points kudos!
is there no formica counter tops with a postform edge I'm in Ireland we would do that job a lot different here. definitely looks great in like the way you done the back splash in one piece. good job
I wish! Id love to see how cabintery might be done in ither places.
Thats a lot of work. Looks great!
Thanks man!
Nice work!!!...I take it you're not too handy with the plumbing ..
Yalls water pressure sucks... counters look great though.
It's better then that.
Tyler G that's good, nothing worse than low water pressure while showering.
If you’re reading these comments I’d really like to know what you’re using to roll the laminate to make sure it’s adhering properly, you said it needed so much pressure but didn’t say what you were using to apply that pressure.
Looks fantastic Tyler! You saved a ton of money and had a fun project to get the entire family involved.
Yessir, we had a good time and are very happy with the results.
that's some week water pressure
?Lol week 7 days? , illiterate .weak.
Could be an enlarged prostate
@@africancichlids3011 hahaha!
Hello. I am being told we have to reinforce the kitchen sink base as I have a granite sink with laminate countertops and being told that the cabinet and countertop won’t be able to hold the sink. What do we do to not make it noticeable ??? Thank you
Awesome I’m doing this. Thanks for sharing 👍🏿
DUDE!!! Looks amazing man!! I never even knew about this!!! Great job as per usual! 👍
Thanks man, we are really happy with the results!
Great Presentation. Excellent video work as you did this.
your water pressure needs some help
The counters are great, however even greater is that you did plumbing without a trip to the hardware store. That's varsity level.
Looks great Tyler I really like that island with the hood over it...nice
Great job and video, as usual Ty!
Thanks Roy!
Do you have a vid about that homemade insert splitter? 2:28
I have been restoring a 20 year old craftsman saw and Im thinking about the micro jig splitter.
Hope the splitter video helps!
why dont you use counter top bolts to pull the seams together....Much better than glue and brad nails.
no beer in the background, my friends would never stay for long.. Great work though. I will soon do this project
Excellent work and video! I noticed that you didn't use sink clips for the sink. Was caulking recommended instead of them. I've been doing research and they always mention the sink clips, but I'd rather use the caulking if possible. Beautiful job on the edging and clipped corners. I appreciate your skill. I use type 3 Titebond like you because it's waterproof. Type 2 Titebond is just water resistant, but not sure about the Wilsonart type 2. Thanks for posting this.
I used sink clips as well, just hard to show in a video.
Great job looks beautiful.
Thank you, Tyler G. This tutorial was so informative and you did a great job!!!
Hey Tyler. I use a spray bottle with detergent water to remove silicone squeeze out before I wipe it off. Stops the silicone sticking to the clean surface.
Good tip right here Dave, thanks!
very cool video... the whole family helping!!!
Pleasure to watch Tyler & you should be proud of your quality project results, ps always nice when people help lifting things of larger sizes 👍👍👍
The flush trim router bit that you used, is it the same that you would use if just working with wood?
You take PRIDE in your work and you take the children into consideration. It sure pays in the long run and it was the entire family involved, you know more than most.NICE JOB.
How is the crescent edge holding up? Does it show gap now that the countertop is older?
That was most informative,I liked the way in which you finished the edges,I had no idea that they made the concave edging.A splendid result, and way less messy than putting epoxy on.
phillipinos bleach
greg richardson robin leach
bindis dad fresh peach
Did you screw the countertop down or just glue it in place?
Great DIY video!
It looks really good, thank you for sharing!!
How do you waterproof the edging by the sink
- Really, really nice job. Like the family involvement. Thanx 4 sharing.
Beautiful, praise God
Very nice work. I would not use Particle Board for a wet area counter, however. Or for Backsplash behind the wet area (where else would you install a back SPLASH!) the laminate work was spot on - especially for such a large L-counter. I was confused about the Build-up on the cabinets and another on the edging. I always added a 3/4" x 2 (or so) strip under the perimeter and along seam and cabinet edges to both raise the surface and provide the thicker edging.
BTW: I did notice that the insulation on that kitchen wall was not installed properly. THe paper/foil edges are supposed to overlap at the studs to seal the cavity.
Excellent video and workmanship. Looks great.
Man you did a great job! Impressed. We are throwing around the idea of making our own tops. Is it a substantial amount of money savings vs buying gold them from the store? We found a wilsonart laminate we really like but our budget is already destroyed lol. It would be great to know. Thanks
Very nice job! Your kitchen is basically set up like mine. I have a wall where you have your island which I want to knock down and install the island with the stovetop as you have. We're not as brave as you.
that is awesome..you did A GREAT job..loved the straight forward video
That looks amazing. Is it /would it be cheaper than prefab considering I don’t have tools.
That waterbase doesn't hold up over time. Don't use it. I work at a college where they used water based contact cement on classroom counters. It all failed eventually.
Did not show how to make the inside corner with the rounded edging
What was the over all price to renovate the counters?
I wonder if my landlord would let us do this to our kitchen.. all of the counters are that white tile and it is a pain in the caboose!
Trabalho caprichado. Parabéns!
You guys really did a fantastic job! i think we've decided to go with laminate. I love the edgings!
Beautiful job! I would not bother to do this job because I found your old counter top actually beautiful enough to me:))!
Laminate can stand water like concrete counter top?
Very nice , well organized shop.
That's what I miss at my house
I Love it, in the process of trying to do mine now
It always surprises me how you yanks apparantly always apply the laminate after the fact even in residential settings. In europe the norm would be pre-laminated tops with a wrap-around roundover front. Are these not available in the states at all?
It is available but more expensive than doing it yourself!
Very nice.....
What color is this??? So beautiful
Hey man great vid! just food for thought. sheet rock that back wall first and just scribe the flake board to the finished wall. if you ever need to remove that top your going to destroy the newly installed wall to do it. the backsplash whether it being tile or your 4" matching will absolutely cover the cut. drop the counter install the backsplash and your donezo! great work either way!!!!
Great job! Thank you for all your tips and tricks to get a professional job.
you need to feed that gerbil that's turning the treadmill that's running your water pump.
Can't you just buy premed laminate countertops at Lowes and home Depot ?
What to do if you don’t have a flush trim router
Looks great, subscribed as soon as I heard you are in Michigan. Warren, MI here.
make sure to add a thermal tape above dishwasher to stop steam from absorbing into the particle board under. if you skip this it will destroy the countertop about and bubble up laminate
That is a great point, will definitely do that, thanks!
Is that all the water pressure that pretty weak
Very good and beautiful
Tayler, where did you get the round edger?
Excellent. Appreciate how you pointed out which blades to use. Perfectly done videos.
first!
Ha!! Yea!
I love how you're fixing up your house!
overwhelm you you had a football team helping you!!!!
✌👍👍👍👍
Nice professional job!
They look great. I work for Wilsonart may have helped make them.
Awesome job Tyler, first time I've seen that type of edging, really nice!
We are very pleased with it!
