Levels of realism in Blender (OpenGL, EEVEE, Cycles) + Grading

- Hello! This video will show you diffrent render levels inside Blender. Also in the end of the video we get almost photorealistic result with color grading.

Cool comparisons! I think that now that Eevee supports motion blur, the difference for this scene to Cycles is negligible.
Thank you! Yes, i also think so.
Can we have the same soft shadow cast though?
I've got Inception movie vibe.
Hmmm i wonder why...
NO WAY
Brought to you by Captain Obvious
It didn't stop spinning 😱
You can actually save time by doing your letterboxing before the post processing stage. Simply change your render resolution from 1920x1080 to 1920x803, this reduces the amount of pixels you have to render that are just going to be replaced with black anyway.
Thank you man!
Why 803 and not 800?
It’s just a standard cinema dimension @ArfatXeon. Kind of like how it’s 1920x1080 and not 1900x1000. The ratio is based off the historical standardization of screens as technology advanced. 803 is based off the 2.39:1 aspect ratio originating in the 70s.
@@flowercalls but I’ve noticed all standard 1080p movies have the resolution of @1920*800, not 803?
@@ArfatXeon Maybe we all should try and find out? Have you give it a test?
Looks great, those things make a huge difference for sure!
you can achieve more realism with better ligting and comppositing. even eevee renders
I think the main reason why eevee result looks less realistic than cycles it is montion blur absence.
@@Rivental and now they've added it !
@@Rivental Agreed, maybe you also need slightly higer res textures for the wood.
Y’all are both wrong. You can only do so much with lighting and “composition” btw composition has NOTHING to do with photorealistism so stop talking about things you don’t understand. You need to use octane or a more photoreal renderer for better realism
@@mrfeathers3938 haha i did not say composition. compositing is the one. and i believe everyone uses compositing to make images look even more real and cinematic.
super cool
I love it !!!
absulutlly amazing
Amazing!
Super realism!!! Nice work.
Wow awesome grading. What are your tips on color grading and how did you do it?
Насколько же гениальный ход, показать поэтапность уровней реализма волчком, который использовал Кристофер Нолан в фильме Начало.
Something that would have really helped out the eevee render would be motion blur. Dont know if it was added in evvee at this point though
Yes. It was added and it's pretty fast.
what is the song? Got nice ambient feeling
Thnks for sharing this topic
Tutorial on how you did the spinning animation
What is letterboxing and grading where are these options? Awesome animation btw
Thank you! Grading it is a color grading i meant... letterbox it is black border lines... You can add on compositing. I am not very good in english so maybe i wrote something wrong.
Letterboxing basically means the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. Grading refers to "Colour-grading", which is a compositing operation. After the render is done, you can add a "Color Balance" or a "Color Correction" node to tweak the colours of the scene.
@@Rivental ok got it thanks for the info
@@APBXylon ok I got it thanks for the info 👍
Color grading is much more Complicated than this, of coursw you Gant do that in blender, but davinci resolve is really good at it (the best) and it’s pretty cheap at all
Thanks requires no apostrophe.
Thanks man!
You should do one with octane
Did you not use motion blur for the Eevee renders?
No. When i was making this render EEVEE had not motion blur yet.
@@Rivental Ah gotcha- Did you use irradiance volumes?
@@AndrewPRoberts No. I have seen many tutorials about this feature but i always got some artifacts when used it. Im waiting for realtime GI. I think you heard about SSGI addon?
@@Rivental Yeah I've used it, when it works, it looks reeaally good
But I've also gotten pretty good results with irradiance volumes
music name?
The question is... will it stop spinning?
no.
Tutorial please
This video insensitived me of Blending.
Someone explain me..different eevee va cycle render?
Cycles calculates light bounces like it happens in real life (of course not completely but very close to it). The calculation of light bounces gives you physical correct AO, global illumination, reflection, refraction, sss, volume... EEVEE dosent calculates light bounces... Instead of that it use different tricks which imitate ao, gi, reflection and act... So it looks less realistic but requires significantly less render time.
@@Rivental Yes ,less render time eevee, but for me it is realistic a lot :D i like eevee ty for explain :))
that burning my computer
Why is this in my recommended 8 months later? :o
Hello! I don't know. But i noticed this video started getting more views after Tenets release) Tenet-Nolan-Iception-This video... strange algorithms of youtube))
@@Rivental How weird! Gotta be a secret somewhere, wish my animations could get 10k views :P.
@@Rivental just got it on my recommendations.
@@noname13years62 Nice.
we need to see how u did grading
Use LUTs or just learn the basics of relations between colors
that uv seam breaks everything
Dof hides it
what is letterboxing?
The black parts of the screen when TV and others were on a 4:3 ratio, or on a 16:9 ratio with the "cinematic feeling" (just an example)
waiting for octane to be added to the video
Cycles better than octane in most cases
ah yes... letterboxing = immediate increase in realism
rip cycles
unreal engine work better for less time expect path tracing
but renders is base off the video card and cpu
Motion blur agrega más realismo
Photo realism is for noobs, I think all movies should be untextured viewport renders.
honestly none of them seems realistic
Thank you!
so not pretty realistichuh
Thank you!
Man... ok, we know OpenGL is not very realistic, but that was ugly comparation. Hide the hud at least!
Hello. I'm not a native speaker and i don't understand word "hud". Please, tell me what you mean.
@@Rivental HUD, i mean the grid, the axes.
@@CaballeroDeOtono Oh, now i understand. But i don't think it's an important detail. You are the first person who point at it.
@@Rivental Is not important cuz we all know openGl is the worst, but that in your video is not a really render.
Anyway, is good video, i just say this like feedback.
@@CaballeroDeOtono Thank you!
