I don't know about anyone else, but the two hardest parts of animation for me are convincing sense of scale, and a convincing sense of weight. This short absolutely nailed both. The world feels large... the spaces, even tiny rooms, feel like spaces. And when things hit, they look like they hit and conveyed force. Great story extremely well executed and beautifully rendered.

Especially the animation was what I didn't quite like on this one. Well, I liked it in the fight scenes, but not in the slower ones. Several movements are weirdly fast for an old-man-character, for example closing the door in the beginning. But it's alright, the story carries it!

I am an absolute sucker for technological design in films, games, artwork, etc. Absolutely nailed the design of the machines in this film, its a complete masterpiece to just look at, and oh my god, I think my favorite parts were when the mechanical arm tried to take the power cell back from the protag, and the way it looked at him inquisitively before setting off the alarm reminded my of Wall-E. Other favorite was 1:42 when the security bot detaches its weapon and relocates its other arms for hand-to-hand combat, its so creatively sophisticated. Absolutely incredible.

So much to say about this! Firstly I wish I could thumbs this up more than once!
Unknowningly Blender and it's dev team are pushing the boundaries of not only their own software, which mind you, is free and open sourced, they are pushing the boundaries of 3D software and animation! It's absolutely remarkable what they've done, which is also made in evee!
As a 3d artist, game developer and graphic designer myself, I can say this, this inspires me, it encourages and makes me appreciate all the work that went into this. I pray that this team and dev team behind blender gets blessed! Blender is like the Einstein in 3D software of our time! Keep it up, and i hope this doesn't stop! Thank you for this 4 minute experience!

You don't often get a movie staring an old man in animation, much less an old man fighting convincingly. What I loved most about this film is that the main character is so obviously old.
He hesitates a lot when dealing with newer tech and uses old means to get to the battery. He uses wrenches for the gate lock, spray paint for the cameras, a blowgun for the security guard, a simple car jack for the door, a pipe for the last door, and a monkey wrench to fight a security robot.
When he fights, you can see that he was once a very dangerous man. He is very creative with his solutions; he blinds it with a can of spray paint, attacks the gun first since it's the biggest problem, he shoves the gun under the press to crush it, and he uses the remnants of his arm as a drill. He clearly had to fight and scavenge to survive in his youth.
But now he is old. He can barely take a hit and he's barely quick enough to avoid the robot's punches, he's clearly scared and uncomfortable around all the new tech; he hesitates before he grabs the battery, has to think for a moment before grabbing the throwing the spray paint, hesitates after he checks on the battery and leaves. Even when he finishes off the robot, his final expression is of a man whose unsure he's going to make it.
He's just an old man who wants more time with what's left of his wife, and that's why this speaks so much to me. An old man doing all he can with what he has to be with his beloved wife. He didn't have much, but it got the job done and that's all that mattered.
