Such an underrated actor on GoT. He was perfect for the role.
Not quite, would have loved if he were half a foot taller. Robert was described as very tall, with broad shoulders (around 6'6") And for book readers this is important. Looking at Mark Addy, (who may have been better casted as an angry dwarf in the Hobbit films) It's hard to imagine him crushing in the breastplate of Rhaegar targaryen and being regarded as the most powerful and physically imposing man in Westeros.
***** Wasn't that 17 years ago? 17 years of drink and whores?
Herr Hansen
drinking and eating is what made him fat
but he wouldn't lose 8 inches because of it :p
Vrezas Hey, if Kim Jong Un can drive at 3 years old, Robert Baratheon can shrink 8 inches from living in the medieval fast lane.
It's science. :)
***** wow, talk about picky, tell me an actor who would do better than Mark Addy at this role.
Mark Addy WAS King Robert. Can't imagine anyone else in that role.
definitely!
Brian Blessed.
It is a travesty that Robert and Tyrion did not share a scene in the show. That would be the most epic piece of dialoge ever made! :D
Michael Fires Robert, Tyrion and Bronn at a dinner table. Man I would watch a whole show about that.
Yes! Even a flashback would be cool. But there are not enough episodes left now. They are high-tailing it for the conclusion. the show has become very rushed.
Michael Fires He would say “I guess kneeling would be pointless in your case Tyrion.” Tyrion would say “I can actually kneel your grace”. Robert would be annoyed for a moment then laugh and pour a drink for Tyrion. Two drunkards at heart. They would make the eight.
There's always chances for flashbacks
"I didn't like your husband. He used to pat me on the back a lot." - Tywin
Would be great to see them do a prequel featuring the rebellion with Mark Addy and Sean Bean back reprising their roles.
Don't forget Jon Arryn.
***** John Arryn would be great to see in a prequel. Also, it would be nice if the producers would show parts from the siege of Storm's End with Stannis.
Aye, it'd be awesome.
That would be brilliant!!!!
It would be great, I love both actors in these roles, but it probably wouldn't fit. Rob's Rebellion took place probably 17 years earlier than when we meet Robert and Him, Ned, John Aryn and Stannis were in completely different shape (some of the best fighters in the land) and probably would look a lot different than what we saw in GoT (remember he says You got fat?). I do love Mark Addy, I think he did a sensational job, but Robert Baratheon is supposedly 6'6" in the books, a mountain of a warrior. That's my ONLY complaint. Robert is like the best warrior in Westeros
GODS I WAS STRONG BACK THEN!
OURS IS THE FURY!
Outstanding actor, cheerful and down-to-earth person and that's about it! I would really love if they did a prequel about Robert's youth and his war to overthrow mad king Aerys.. To have him, Ned Stark and Jon Arryn together waging war against a mad ruler would be epic indeed!
HBO has already said that if they do a prequel it will NOT be Robert's Rebellion, instead something much older like Aegon' conquest
Bow Before Your King
Bow You Shits!!! xD
His delivery of Robert Baratheon....the drunken king....was perfect. Is he theater trained?
for sure he is. his whole act is that of a theater king. the one true king...and ultimately the best king in the series
Robert was a bad king but one of the more likeable characters of the first season. Quite funny as well.
well maybe bad king in asmuch as he was uniterested, sarcastic, indulgent and prety much done with it... but at least he wasnt badshit crazy like everyone else on the show since his death is...
I used to think he was a bad king reading the first book. Than after all the terrible people who came to power afterward and I realized he was an alright king because he kept it all together with bread and circuses and wasn't mad for power. Robert was smart in that he left the power to the people who wanted power on the Small Council, so they wouldn't have delusions of grandeur. They would have more power under him than under any Targaryen. Bobby B wasn't an administrator, but Kings didn't necessarily need to be one if they have the right people working for them.
I want to see the Battle of the Trident! D:
Us too!!
He was great in Game of Thrones.
Yes, he was!
You can tell this wasn't just another gig to Mark. He seems like just as big a fan as us fans. Really enjoyable interview. Fantastic performance also.
I was sad to see him go the first time i watched season 1. He was such a powerful character and had this great on-screen presence, all his scenes were memorable too.
The Still Standing he starred on is so underrated I think the show was really funny with his awkward Chicago accent... Any awesome guy
YES!! Definitely one of my favorite sitcoms!
"Ours is the fury" are the best house words
LOVE this guy! Kudos to you, Mr. Addy!
Yes, he's such a great guy, isn't he?! Very down to earth and funny.
wow, i didn't know he had a British accent when I used to see him in "still standing"
AH'VE BEEN WAITIN' 'ERE FOR DAYS! START THE DAMN JOUST BEFORE AH PISS MESELF!

He was my first favorite character! So he died.

I Love this actor, I love his voice)))) greetings from AZERBAIJAN/Caspian Sea
Mark Addy is a top actor!!
too true!
I can't even imagine anyone else playing Robert, he was phenomenal
This guy was the true king. Damn he played the role so well.
The father on Still Standing is British? Learn something new every day.
"GO FIND THE BREASTPLATE STRETCHER....NOW!"
Such a powerful and piercing voice. Loved every single scene he was in. Charles Dance too.
he just looks so sweet and jolly.
Loved him in GoT as King Robert, and of course in The Full Monty. That is such a lovely and funny movie. :-)
What an awesome guy. And its so nice that, despite him playing a character that exits the show early, he still gets the recognition he deserves for bringing it so so to life, the way he does.
Awesome as always.
the cast is so damn perfect ... mark addy sean bean nikolaj coster waldau lena headey peter dinklage charles dance rory mccean ... we can go on and on... they really lived that roles!
He is fantastic. Scene stealer! You can't look away from Mark Addy.
I love how he says Lena is playing "such a bitchy character" lol that's funny.
Thanks for these awesome videos!
Bow Yaa Shitzz!
bow you shits
Mark Addy you are one of the greatest actors in all your movies you have been in and are in. I my self is 62 and 5'10"and retired of course with health problems. But I would of loved to be A actor 🙂
one of the best castings in history
Seven hells Robert, are ye drunk or what, damn you! :) Love this guy great interview.

"Anti-wrinkle cream there may be, but anti-fat-bastard cream there is not." - Dave, Full Monty
It's hard to believe this is the same actor that was in "Still Standing"
Awesome!!
i keep hearing king robert
He was the most realistic King in the whole series. Just like kings were centuries ago!
I loved him, thought he was an AMAZING King Robert but jesus, this interview was so awkward, he didn't know what to say.
That's so awesome to see a wonderful actor who knows so much about his character and the lore of Westeros. A shame he died so early in the story! :'(
Really GJ!
OURS IS THE FURY!
You are literally so amazing that internet trolls stay their hand in their comment section for fear that their negativity might hinder you from doing these unique and outstanding interviews even their black souls crave. Thank you so much, I don't know how i'd make it to season 4 without epic interviews like this one! :D
Melisandre interviewing King Robert 😯
Mark❤
It tells you a lot that one of Roberts last statements had to do with succesian. He had the idea that naming Ned Start his regent, handing him the country to run, and asking Ned to "fix" Joffrey. And was convinced everyone would agree that was going to be the one objectively good decision in his entire reign.
He is in Still Standing, didn't know he is british.
"He's a troubled soul."
man all I could think of is Fall Out Boy's "Alone Together" XD
Fucking Jack frost guy played one of my favorite characters and I didn't even notice.
Lots of people lining up?
‘Been sitting here for days! Start the damn joust before I piss myself!’
All hail our king, Bobby B !
Am yer king!
He's a very smart chap.
Smart? Smart is it? Is that how you speak to your king?!
GODS I WAS STRONG BACK THEN
OUR IS THE FURY!, house Baratheon's words. sadly they did not mention the words in the show as they did with starks, tyrells, and lannisters
The Mad King says hi
Did he throw the "bed of roses" mention in there just to mess with us??
Melisandre interviewing Robert Baratheon
only one baratheon brother left to interview
Will you interview samwell
the actor that plays king stannis is older than the actor that plays robert! :D
... are you an idiot?!do you even understand what im saying?!
+Kaezer Musik The actor, not the character, you halfwit. The whole reason he mentioned it was because you would think it would be the other way round.
Oh you sweet summer child...
Probably the best line of dialogue not in the books. I give David and Dan props for that one.
GODS HE WAS STRONG THEN!
START THE DAMN JOUST BEFORE I PISS MYSELF
I'm sure this joke has been made before
but
Mark DADDY
GODS, I WAS STRONG THEN
Worth the weight.
START THE BLOODY SEASON BEFORE I PISS MESELF
Your pardon Your Grace. I just mean to bow before the shining graceful Kingly man that you are.. Born to be King like Jesus himself.
Fred Flintstone
Robert was actually the best king of the lot lol
Big Bobby B in the flesh.
7:50
?
.....waking three times a night just piss himself WIINEE!!!!!!!!
Mark you look better with the beard and long hair.
Steven LOL.
No worries.
Steven Thanks for being cool about that dude. :)
Robert is a tough act to follow. I just hope Sansa doesn't end up on the throne. She learned how to be a Queen from Cersei and she wouldn't make a very good one because of it.
BRING ME THE BREASTPLATE STRETCHER BEFORE I PISS MYSELF
more wine your Grace?
I still can't believe he was the guy who was in that crappy sitcom. He did a fucking awesome Bobby B though!
what crappy sitcom?
AFXAcid37 I figured that what you were talking about, but that show is NOT crappy! lol
scootigger Hahah, there's only one good sitcom with a big fat guy and his hot wife, and it's King of Queens! :D
By the seven Gods is he drunk! lol
vinoh!
Would Robert have killed Jon Snow?
Her arm had to of been tired as hell
you can hate cersei only for killing robert already.
The whoooooooooooooooooooooooore is pregnant.
bruh Fred Flinstone need to lose that fake ass accent #exposed lmao
@BryntheKingMartin.... #dead
o.O
Lol
