Sorry to burst your bubble old thing, but I am the consumate Tolkein nerd, and Mr Colbert wouldn't know Tolkeinian phonetics if he sat on them. Of the North, the accents in GOT are modelled on their real world counterparts in Britain
Yorkshire accent
I can't think of too many northern accents in LOTR. Mostly West Country and RP. The Hobbit has more northern accents.
Yup, but specifically South Yorkshire and Sheffield. Though I dunno if you'd notice the subtle differences unless you're from here already.
Going from fighting the French in the 1800s to lord of the rings?
Now that’s soldiering.
Finally someone mentioned it! Cracking show, great lines
I feel Sharpe would also agree that the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword (or fire the rifle, as the case may be)
After reading the title, I thought they were talking about the 'One does not simply' meme
Same! I was waiting for it lol
0:04 "Bormer"....??
Stephen pronounces a lot of the LOTR names strangely. I think he trying to emulate what he think Tolkien would've pronounced them like.
He also pronounced "Gollum" as "Golem" instead of "Gah-lum".
actually they way tolkien wanted people to pronounce names and titles in middle-earth, was in the same way you'd do it in italian.
He does it purposefully. He's a Tolkien nerd, so there's no reason to think that he'd pronounce a LOTR name wrong lol.
Sorry to burst your bubble old thing, but I am the consumate Tolkein nerd, and Mr Colbert wouldn't know Tolkeinian phonetics if he sat on them. I'm afraid he's just being your typical colonial butcher-of-the-tongues...
FYI, the first R should have a single rhotic roll, never a simple flat rhotic note. The final syllable should sound like "mere" (the English non-rhotic pronunciation).
EnglishDreadnought Damn. You made me think of Will Hunting when he jumps in making that preppy look like a fool.
I'm glad to see Sean Bean survived this interview.
No one seems to talk bout how brilliant he was in Frankenstein Chronicles
YES
well I've just found another show to start watching after my exams are done.
YES
Dylan M-B Season 2 will haunt me forever.
Yea... I’m gunna need about 20 more minutes for this interview.
The fact he said “in da club” is legendary
I want his delightful, gentle voice to read me bedtime stories. 💞😊💞
Me: I want Sean Bean to be my husband, but also my father. Is that normal?
My mom: No.
getLaidybug wut, makes no sense lol
you got taste for men, baby!
Like Craster was to Gilly😂
What an absolute legend. Mr Sean Bean is. A proper man dedicated to his craft. All from a beautiful place called Yorkshire ❣️
I met Sean Bean once and he was such a lovely guy. I was always a big fan and he had time for everyone.
This guy has played one of the main characters in so many epic historic movies and TV Shows like Lord of The Rings, Troy and Game of Thrones. Damn, he's had a great career.
You should watch him as Richard Sharpe!
@@laurag7295 Was going to say that, he was amazing as Sharpe.
Mr. Bean was talking about the poor people in Puerto Rico and how the guys from the studio / production were trying to help by going back there and spending money by finishing shooting of the scenes. And what does Mr. Colbert do? He's going back / switching topics to 50 Cent?
Really? People died there, Mr. Bean was about to make a point, a statement and Mr. Colbert just goes back to 50 Cent like _this_ ? That's what i call tactful...
Edit: spelling
Edit 2: yeah i know - Mr. Bean as in Rowan Atkinon's "Mr. Bean". See guys, where i live we usually adress people we don't know or we are not good friends / close to by their last name. So it was just natural for me to use this kind of salutatory address.
He probably was trying to stop the comedy show from getting too dark, and wasn’t expecting him to get so specific about the Puerto Rico question
@@themasstermwahahahah
Maybe. And while i do understand that each guest does have only a limited window in that they can talk / a time-slot, it wouldn't have been a problem to let Mr. Bean finish his topic, say some uplifting words and then carefully shift the topic / come back to 50 Cent.
On the other hand: interviews can at times be a very dynamic situation, granted.
"mr bean" :D
The guest don't get enough time 5 minutes is barely enough time for a quick chat.
Mr. Bean
Sean Bean is the coolest guy around.
I love his voice! It calms me down.
A year ago I didn’t understand Sean Bean’s Yorkshire accent and then for past year I’m head over heels with Take That and they speak in similar accents (from Manchester, Chesire, and Stoke) and now I understand clearly what he’s saying. This is amazing and intriguing actually.
Jesus, Colbert had zero chemistry with Sean and he clearly rushed through the mostly scripted questions, while not really caring much about the answers he was given.
Painful.
jockejocke1 he was actually doing Sean Bean a favor by promoting and accentuating the highlight of the show in which Sean starred in. Wasn’t that the Main Goal Sean Bean came to the talkshow?
@@edwardmp87 While promotion of the show was the main reason for the interview it did seem like Colbert and Bean didn't mesh well. In one of the other comments some compared Colbert ' s energy as the personification of Red Bull vs Bean's as Red wine.
Because he is a Big Fan of LOTR, he was nervous.
@@MyMomo17 yeah honestly he probably was
He's so chill. Polite, funny and genuine
For someone who almost always plays the villain, he's surprisingly humble and soft-spoken. It's always the quiet ones you gotta watch out for.
What a NICE Gentle guy!!! I am so happy to watch this interview.
one of many yorkshire accents. bloody love this bloke
"One does not simply walk into Mordor"...
Anybody familiar with oblivion.....all hail the emperor!!!
Yes my friend pure gold
