P.s have also seen that there is also a Seiko Spb105j1 watch that was in the film Apocalypse now and that has been released.I have been luck I have to Seiko watches I would love to get a Grand Seiko or SPB153 or spb105j1. Looking forward to the next episode 👍
Loved this Damian, will share on my FB group Seiko Passion as the guys there will love it. We are the same age and I loved these films especially Predator. That said if seen a few original Arnies at watch fares in Birmingham but they are too big and too expensive. I still think that Seiko should reintroduce the Pogue especially on a gold dial. I don’t think you have one? Iconic, first seiko in space, first automatic watch in space and Seikos first automatic chronograph with a vertical clutch setup too. Movement is legendary and arguably the worlds first mass produced automatic chronograph (6139 moment, love to work on these) came out in 1969 . Loads of history on them if your interested to look them up.
TheWatchGuys not that many fakes. It all depends if you want the 6002 which is the model Col. Pogue wore. The 6005 is just as nice in my opinion and they are for sale all day long. The fakes are usually not fakes but either franken watches made from all the right parts or using aftermarket bezels , inserts and dials. They are very popular but it’s fairly easy to spot the genuine ones. Ironically I want a broken one to have the enjoyment of repairing it.
I had the original arnie way back in the early 80s! The reason i bought it, at the time when i saw it at the jewelry store i fell on love with the time piece! At the time i paid a little over 400 dollars, wich at the time it was a lot of money! Here we are 2020 and i finally own it again! And i gotta tell you! I love this piece, they improved the watch. Its way better than the original in its funtionality and it is a tad bigger! I wich i knew then what i know now! I would have kept it and taken better care of it! I lost it during moving from house to house in the 80s, now you have to pay a small fortune for even a beat up one. Great review!😎👍
Your comment on not being able to read the lcd display worries me a bit. I'm around your age and to me the appeal of the lcd display is solely to be able to see the date. And since the date on most (analog) watches is usually way too small I thought THIS was the solution! Still, one buys this watch for the Arnie connection and not for it's practicality. It IS pretty cool. Cheers. 👍
I sit in the “no explanation needed” camp but one thing you didn’t cover in the video I need to know.... When you set the countdown timer does it make that really loud “buh-doo buh-doo buh-doo” noise like it does in Commando?
I just purchased the black & padi/Pepsi versions Gonna upgrade the padi with stainless Steel shroud n seiko bracelet Awesome watches Love them both. 😃😃😃

I feel your pain! Growing up the the 80s/90s I wanted one they was out of reach for me financially as a kid. Now I can’t find one for love nor money. Though I won’t buy the reissue! It must be original or nothing!
I see that its OEM strap is somewhat overly long. As is other your other hi end Seikos like SLA033 and SLA025. Do you find this issue particularly troublesome..?
TheWatchGuys good on you Sir! I own SLA033 and I did decide to shorten its OEM strap. Up to 5cm of it just flaps on my wrist and it is just too much of an eyesore to bear..

I just thought when you were describing the features a brief evaluation of the shroud, the intended function and the material it's made of would have been a great addition. Not a criticism, just a comment. I just started flipping through yours vids this morning and have enjoyed them. The watch channels I usually view are starting to feel stale and I found your genuine enthusiasm refreshing.
Damian did Arnie have sponsorship deals with Seiko back in the day or was that his own daily wearer? Cool watch btw, I’m going to hunt one out for myself.

No, I've not got any Vacheron. None have grabbed me yet.
Back in the mid to late 80's when you graduated from the USAF Pararescue school you were issued the original Arnie - it was very cool!

I have both the SNJ025 and the pepsi version. Both are great watches.. Thank you, Seiko, for this reissue.

I don’t find it troublesome as my wrists are quite large, but it’s particularly noticeable with the Arnie
