    Errr!
My unit, Small Craft Company, was involved in this event and I don't think any of us realized the significance of it all in the moment. We were also involved in Op Vigilant Resolve and Op Al Fajr (Phantom Fury), and, again, I you never realize how history will reflect on your actions in the moment.
Having been in Fallujah, Ramadi, Haditha, and Najaf, I think a great disservice occurs when the Marine Corps pushes veterans of these great battles out of the service. I came home from my second combat tour, was transferred to another unit, and had an entire command with zero combat experience white gloving my room (one SSgt even brought in a screwdriver, unscrewed my vent, found "dust" and canked my weekend libo) and treating me like a boot. Nothing makes a Marine want to get the fuck out more than being woken up at 0500 to go low crawl around the barracks picking up cigarette butts.
Today, I'm a firearms instructor and I have found a passion in teaching. It upsets me to know that I could have found this passion and focused my efforts towards training and sharing my experiences with young Marines.
    Semper Fidelis.

Thank you for your service!! Glad you found your passion as well!! So happy to hear that!!
I have friends who went off right after 9/11 and to this day some of them are still having trouble “finding their passion” or “a way back in society without the paranoia of having to always look over their shoulder” it’s hard and sad to see, I love them and help as much as I can, but some people just lose a little part of themselves when they’ve been through extremely rough situations that are life or death.. if you have any advice for me to try and help my friends out I would really appreciate it.. I know there’s not one answer that will solve the problem but maybe you have a different perspective to share that can help the situation at a different angle.. Thank you once again for everything you’ve done for our country I really appreciate it and will always be grateful and indebted for your service/support and if you have any ideas please write me back. Once again thank you for everything and thank you in advance! I just want to see my friends smile again.. it’s been decades..

0:24 Thx for Polish accent in the background - the Polish Army fuel cistern JELCZ. Some Poles still remember that a B.W. pilot saved Polish ambassador from firefight in Iraq in 2007. He voluntarily landed in the middle of a street to evac a team of PL Secret Service with the ambassador. In my opinion that was badass (putting aside some bad facts about B.W.). Unfortunately one of the officers Bartosz Orzechowski was killed in that ambush.

I wish I could find my diary .. but I remember calling it hell day 1-2 . I remember my recon unit getting flown from cleaning up our 2 week long battle in Mosul Samarra and Tal Afar. Just to go to Najaf for a bonus round. Every battle was a learning moment for soldiers, contractors alike. In the blink of a eye I was brought back 2010 to shut it down, and realize what a waste of time, and lives lost. However, on a tactical level many lessons learned. On a spirtual level I realized God sent many angels to watch over me . I have much respect for the Iraq and Astan Syria the whole Middle East as awhole. War is a chess board in which you are a small piece in a bigger picture. The end result is you and those who fought side by side are left with memories as the world moves on. You can stay in the rat race as a military tool or contractor tool until you retire or get rich or get waxed or blown-up, or suicide. That being said I pray for the mental health of those who served, trying to move on, or pray for those who are seasoned sheep-dog for life. "breathing means there is more life to be lived ,,Blessing .

Truer words have never been said. Good to hear from someone who understands after reading the mostly ridiulous comments from fanboys and people who have no understanding of what went on over there, or what it's like having to live with it, including the aftermath. TBH, I don't even know why I watched this video, just came through my feed. Just brings up bad memories. I did 2 tours over there from 03 - 05 in the USMC.

I used to watch those videos from those days before I deployed to Afghanistan on liveleak. Never forgot them, recognized a lot of shit from those combat videos in a few situations

Imagine how essential these outstanding individuals have been to the domestic counterinsurgency effort that has been taking place.
Their mere mention has been sufficient to discourage the opposition from engaging in ill-advised courses of action that would have resulted in significant misfortune.
    For them.
    These guys are heroes.
They were then and they are now.

Thanks for all you have done for our Country. Sucks all you guys had was mostly .556 but you got the job done. RIP to all that were lost.

Well when a handful of US military soldiers along with a group of military contractors hired for HVT protection end up providing extra fighters, resupply, and medevac with thier own helicopters to protect US government employees from a full-blown enemy attack for multiple days, I'd say caliber selection was not the critical failure point 😉... Or really a great consideration of this possible scenario, because it never should have been... Although I agree even a properly dope carded 5.56 DMR would've been a nice enhancement, but a suppressed SR-25 with lots of magazines definitely would've been a handy force multiplier... Although so would several blackhawks full of Army Rangers, a couple of JTACS, and an AC-130 gunship 😁 This was a complete government f@ckup, luckily the terrain, building layouts, and lack of high volume, large diameter mortars allowed these brass balled defenders to pull off a hell of a win... Unlike Libya there were plenty of large American military air and ground assets with unlimited (atleast from the air) freedom of movement close at hand, yet these guys were basically hung out to dry... 😠

Are you the type that thinks getting shot with a 5.56 is the equivalent of getting shot with a bb gun?

@@Immortalkalashnikov While I'll stick with my number one assessment of caliber selection should in no way have been the difference maker that day... From what I understand most of the militants were breaking into groups and moving towards the compound often in the open at between 600-1500 meters away, that's a substantial long haul for 5.56, with no wind, and match grade 77gr ammo... I'm guessing they were just shooting M193 or M855 which makes both accuracy, maximum range, and transonic instability much worse, along with the lessened lethality at ranges over 600 meters... Although once again this is a conversation we shouldn't be having because this entire situation should have been brought to a swift closure within a couple of hours... Despicable failure of governmental bureaucrats within the state department 😠

      @markwhite6782 2 роки тому +1

@@themikebray Yes. There's also a #59 C but I can't tell you the difference other than M= Military and C= Civilian. I actually have 2 SIR systems. The 50M-CV and the 58M-CV. I use ARMS BUIS, Scope Rings and several of their throw lever mounts. They aren't very popular in the AR community due to cost but hey, if Haley used them then they have to be cool! I've followed him for years even when he was with Magpul and making instructional videos. The guy knows his shit.
