I have a Motorola (Android) phone that I use primarily as an MP3 music player. On my old iMac, I could just connect with a USB-cable and transfer between my Motorola and iMac to transfer music; but when I bought a new iMac, the iMac would not recognize my Motorola. I downloaded the Android File Transfer app, but Apple won''t allow me to open and use the app because it wasn't downloaded from the Apple App Store. The only Android file transfer apps on the Apple App Store require $$$ (yearly subscription). Your tutorial on how to use an external drive to move files from an iMac to Android is the only "free" solution that worked for me. My Motorola didn't have the same appearance as your Android phone when transferring files so there was a "trial-and-error" learning curve to figure how to do the transfer. So far, so good! THANKS!!!

I used the Snapdrop but for some reason I don't know where it downloaded it to? Is it defaulted to the "Downloads" folder? Because I don't see it. But when I do the reverse and send a file from my MAC to my Android, it works.

Solutions: Format a usbdisk/ disk to FAT on your pc/computer. Transfer files to from pc/computer to usb/disk. Connect usb/disk to youre phone and transfer to phone

Apple M3 max is not allowing the Open MTP to be installed as it is not verified !
Finder -> Applications -> Right click on Open MTP App and chose open

Solution:
Go to "Applications" in Finder => Hold Command button and right click over the app icon => Click open
Right-click the application and select Open. A different prompt should appear, select the open option again.
Press on cancel then go to system settings -> privacy and security, you should see the message telling you why openmtp was blocked. You click here 'open anyway' then open the app again.

Well, my mac just won't connect to my Pixel 7.
I installed openmtp yesterday,before watching this video. After multiple attempts, I could not connect my android phone to mac.

Try to activate the debogging mode on your smartphone maybe... But here, it works for 4-5 files and after crash... And never worked again 😢

the files doesnt open to see what exactly your transfering to the mac. just shows blue files or pdf files
Great tips, but strangely I could not get any of the three to work. Seems that Apple has done a pretty good job of making this a painful procedure. 😭
