So the multi brand eco system community is very vibrant. I rock macbook pro, ipad, S24 plus, watch 6 classic and buds 3 pro. Like probably the rest of you I make the most of cross platform apps to join my devices together. Works seemlessly. I am an average user so don't feel the need to have the same logo on everything, and enjoy the freedom of using the best tool for my needs. My set up is the best one for me.

Don't get me wrong, a good sounding speaker is better than any luxury codec or feature, but if you usually listen to high bitrate music, you'll probably be able to hear the lack of bit depth.

During that time I was in part frustrated with some of the fragmentation I had trying to make things work together. I do see some light at the end of the tunnel using android and Mac. As far as home file sharing if you are tech you can create a shared drive on your computer or network for all devices.

Got my first MacBook in Feb 2022 (Air M1 512GB) when I was still daily driving S20 FE and it was going really fine. Upgraded to iPhone 15 Plus in Feb this year and I don’t know if I like “the ecosystem” more than my previous setup. Air Drop and continuity camera are cool, but I like the Android Files Transfer method better than with an iPhone. Like, basic file explorer based copy and paste.
I have a PC and it’s not a problem to do file explorer based copy and paste from iPhone to PC, but I still can’t figure it out how to do it in Mac. I also love the video recording quality, and audio quality of the iPhone (mics and speakers). But I kinda miss OneUI features. Probably gonna switch back to S25 Plus or S24 Ultra next year. Wanted to go S24 Plus but in my country, it comes with the exynoss chipset rather than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

I felt the same way about Microsoft with regards to security (at least at an enterprise level; Windows and Office have always been all over the place) but their security incidents over the past couple of years, as well as the incredibly thoughtless introduction of their Recall feature as part of their Copilot+ launch, have made me reconsider that, even with them seemingly now prioritizing security as a result of all that's happened.

Amazing. It was this video I was looking for. I have the same case: Samsung phone and Macbook Pro. My biggest issue is to transfer big files (videos) from S23 Ultra to Macbook. I didnt know Google Photos was available as an app to download into macbook. I think this will be my solution. Thanks a lot

Hey man, I use practically the same "ecosystem". I use the scrcpy to mirror my Samsung Galaxy screen into my Mac. You can also do it wirelessly, but setting up is not that simple.

I agree, I prefer my hybrid setup of the Macbook Pro M1 Pro and the Samsung S24 Ultra, especially being a full-time full-stack and ios developer, it balances everything nicely, as for app deployment, I just use a company-provided iPad, love just not being locked into an ecosystem, everything works well and doesn't get in the way of each other. As for file transfer, I am a unique scenario where I do self-host a decent amount of my own services, and I use a self-hosted instance of Snapdrop to drag and drop stuff across devices, just works well.

Is it necessary to have an iPhone or an iPad to code for iOS? I have the Mac and the iPhone, I want to learn to code for iOS, but I hate the iPhone, I want to change it for an Android haha.

@sky3k_ sadly it's best to keep both devices as a whole , because you need to develop natively on an iPhone to discover any possible real-life flaws in iOS Development, the simulator alone is not enough

Bluetooth File Exchange is a fine enough file transfer tool … you can go from Android to Mac or Mac to Android and as long as the setting is checked, it’ll work always. It’s not fast, but it works

you're right about kde connect being too bad looking to use and there's a fork of it for macos called soduto and i use it to sync clipboard and share files between my android and macbook. it just lives in the menu bar and if you want to share files, there's a file sharing extension in the finder

For the link sharing thing, i usually just open the link on another tab on any of my devices and use the history bar to open it again on others devices. Not as fast at sync clipboard but it gets the job done since i have to open up the browser to paste the link in anyway

Tbh, sharing smaller files on WhatsApp and bigger files on Telegram works just fine. I created a group on each platforms putting my both accounts in them as admins long before these apps created the 'share with yourself' or whatever is it called... features. I drop my files in these groups and that's it. My modem takes care of the transfer speed.
Also, using accessories which connect to either devices with the dual pairing facility helps with switching between devices for calls, meets, or media. And apart from a little bit of calling, I don't use my phone much, so my PC works super fine for me, albeit a really old gen one!
    (i3 9th gen, 16GB 2400Mhz, 1TB SSD, 4GB DDR3 GPU - still no issues!)

I am basically Apple (MacBook M4 Max, iPad 9th Gen, iPhone X, Apple Watch 4), but I’m no longer a fan of iPhone. I haven’t updated phones in 6 years. I was worried about the “ecosystem “.
After watching video, I will switch to android.
I still worry like the Apple Watch, though, lol

This is the reason I went back to Android. I was paying icloud and google account before and it was a bit too much for me, ive been using google account since I got my first phone. So i ditched my iphone and now using samsung phone and macbook, and i can link them together with google. I can back up my photos to google with ease even when i close google photos using my android which is impossible to do with iphone. Im happy with my 'ecosystem'.

I don't know how it is on Mac but KDE Connect on Linux is great. Easy file sharing, media controls, clipboard sync, notification sync (will even mute everything when you receive a call) and stay out of the way. I don't know if the Mac implementation is solid but you should give it a try.

Cool video. I'm in kind of the opposite position right now - iPhone with a Windows PC. I have a MacBook as well and frankly prefer macOS over Windows, but it's more of an occasional use device I share with my partner these days. I mainly still use Apple ecosystem stuff, but supplement as needed with other services - a dash of Google stuff here and there to fill in the gaps, really. I'd say it gets me like 85% of the way there, compared to just living fully "in-ecosystem". Totally workable, but I do find myself grumbling here and there about random inconvenient edge cases.

MacBooks are incredibly efficient and reliable for photo/video editing, they’re incredibly easy to work around I personally use an M3 Air for casual photo editing so I don’t need the Pro… It’s an incredible device compared to my Windows desktop I feel like everything is just more efficient with my Macbook. Currently have an IP13 and will soon switch to an S25 Ultra. Don’t think i’ll ever give up my mac though it really is just a great and solid device, probably their best product for the price.

I don't know if this works for Samsung, but on my Pixel 7, I can use my phone as a webcam (in my Mac) with a USB connection. I'm using my phone as a camera in my office since I didn't want to buy another webcam. I also added a Magsafe adapter to my case, allowing me to use many Magsafe adaptors to hang my phone on top of my monitor in a convenient/efficient way.

I use KDE connect to transfer photos and files from the S22 Ultra to aMacBook Pro M2 max and viceversa. I synced Samsung calendar and apple calendar with google calendar, so when I add or edit events in either calendar it will show in the other ones. The only reason to do this is to feel the calendar native experience while using the S22 or the macbook, it's not really necessary, you could go with Google Calendar only; this was only a personal choice. I mostly manage my notes in the S22 with samsung notes, in case I need a note synced in both devices I use OneNote. And for messages I use Google Messages and Whatsapp. I don't see myself switching to iphone any time soon.
