  • I recently tried SuperSpeed golf drills as part of an overspeed golf training system to increase my swing speed and the results were very promising.

    Been doing overspeed on and off last few years. The things I learned is you have to have a speed radar to measure and record progress, don't bother using the sticks without it. Lifting weights as a way to increase speed before commiting to a overspeed program to prep your body for it is way better. If you do not lift weights and prep your body good chance you will end up with tennis elbow or something. Non-dominate swings are a waste of energy and while the superspeed guys promote it in their protocols most others do not as there is no research to back it up. The superspeed protocols just keep adding more and more swings. Sure way to end up hurt without a strength program to deal with the stress of it. Over speed training going balls out with your driver at the range needs to be one of the sessions, so drop one super speed session and hit 30 balls at the range with driver. Don't rely on just the overspeed products to train with to gain speed. You need to train your mind how to hit a ball with all that new speed even if you are spraying it all over the range. Last, I have tried superspeed and the The Stack and the The Stack is more scientific in its a approach and has the app to guide you. SS are just a bunch of youtube videos which are okay but the The Stack feels more like you have a coach there guiding you telling you when to rest to get the most out of less swings. SS in my opinion has way to many swings with no proof that swinging more actually works.

      Oh and make sure you warm up for at least 15 minutes, get a little sweat going. Again The Stack guides you on a good range of motion warm up and even before that you need to hop on a treadmill or something to kick you into gear. Don't just swing a club around thinking you have warmed up as it requires your whole body warm or you will pull something if you are really going all out. If your not going all out its pretty much a waste of time and your just flapping around your arms pointlessly.

    I agree with safety, almost every season after a few weeks , some type of injury happens, rib back shoulder knee, stretch start slow is the key. Over swinging will pull something…

    I have used Super speed and it works really well. If you can measure you can improve. In the 4 weeks I have used Super speed my swing speed has increased 8 mph. I will increase more after using the Super Speed for the additional protocols 2-6 over the next 6-9 months

    Warm up properly. I pulled my oblique last year during superspeed training. I lost 3 weeks of the season.

      Excellent point! Warming up properly should be part of every speed training session.

    I try to practice 2 or 3 times a week. One thing I notice is if I practice driver 2 days in a row, my stock swing is between 4 and 6mph faster on the second day. It's almost as if my body remembers and naturally goes harder. If I haven't swung for 3 or 4 days it usually drops down a couple of mph as well.

    • @Golficity
      @Golficity  2 роки тому +1

      That definitely makes sense. Like Ryan said in the video, this takes consistent practice/work for long-term effects.

    when I first picked up golf after high school swing speed was over 130, no fucking clue what allowed me to do that. Played baseball, and I increased my swing speed by swinging heavier things making my real swing faster. I do not believe in this tbh. Being able to control the club/bat is what is important. So be able to control a heavier club makes a lighter one becomes more manageable. I imagine over the last decade its dropped quite a bit as I am not trying to vaporize the ball anymore. Though I do miss sending the ball into orbit

    • @williamhandjis86
      @williamhandjis86 2 роки тому

      I think a heavy club is more of a placebo effect than anything. A heavier club isn’t really going to make you swing faster. And you were probably 130 SS because of years of playing baseball. You’ve been working on rotational power your whole life!

      To bad you’re wrong. Remember Vijay Singh and his Speedstick.
      He didn’t have to try to hurt himself. That’s why baseball player transition into golfers so well. They have kinda trained the right muscles for golf.

    Should your swings be all out (unbalanced, out of control) or should you swing as fast as you can in balance? Your normal setup just as fast as you can.

    It’s actually not very slow progress. I’m only 6 weeks with just swing speed training with only the sticks you can get 7 plus mph on swing speed. That’s not even two months.

    You want to hit it further as you dont have confidence in mid irons so are up for training for more speed but not up for improving your mid irons? Classic amateur golfer lol.
