i have to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for this video, i’ve gone to the FIT campus tour, but i was still just a teeny bit nervous about this application process and the portfolio, but you just hearing you explain everything so thoroughly has helped me feel so much better about it all. thank you so so much for creating this video!
This has been genuinely the most helpful thing for my application process. I have re-done and read over the application so much for fear of doing something wrong but you have really helped easing the stress. FIT is my top school and Im applying for the 2024 fall semester. I've done my absolute best and I know it's out of my hands now. For anyone else scared for the future, we've got this!
i really loved your advice and i took notes and everything! the only thing i'm worried about is the deadline for the portfolio is feb and it is currently oct and i have no experience in sewing. do you have any advice you can give?
Thankyou for our Video. I am kind of confused with the guidelines for the sportswear and athleticwear designs this year. But they do not mention clients as business meetings or lunch. Is this based more as on for Gym clothes or clothes that can be everyday wear?
“Sportswear” and “Athleisure” mean two different things. Sportswear means ready to wear clothing, and athleisure means sporty clothing. I know its a bit confusing but hope that clarifies your question! :)
Thankyou for the video!! It was really helpful Just a bit confused on the sportswear thing. Sportswear doesn't only mean athleisure or streetwear, they can be called as a subcategory under sportswear right? It's not necessary to design athleisure
I am applying this year for Fall 2022! Would you suggest putting the designs on black paper instead of placing them on a black background using photoshop? I was going to use photoshop, but I am not sure what would end up looking best.
Hey thank you for sharing information! Currently I'm studying final year of architecture I was thinking to do my masters in fashion can I go for it or do I need bachelor's degree in fashion design only ?
Are you asking if you need a BFA before doing a masters at FIT? I would ask the school, or visit their official website and set up an apt. to speak with someone who can best answer your question on that.
This is a great video ! Very very informative! Also one stupid doubt, when you said “have prior sewing experience” did you mean hand sewing or on a sewing machine ?
thank u for this video!! im currently applying to FIT and I wanted to know if they would think of my art negatively because im showing my sketches digitally and not on paper
did you submit your essay and portfolio at the same time? Or did you submit the essay and portfolio at different times? super nervous with this application process, I have 0 guidance with any of this, except UA-cam LMAO! i’m applying as a transfer student for fashion design for fall of ‘22.
Hii!! I’m currently on the application process as a transfer student too, but for Spring 2022. I totally understand!! UA-cam has been the only helpful place for all of this. 🙃
@@celymarie627 yoo since you’re applying as a transfer as well, I remember reading on the portfolio that transfer students have to add the classes we’re currently taking somewhere on the essay .. where exactly are the classes being added? At the end of the essay?
You will definitely get better with time and practice so don’t worry if your sketches are super advanced. Try your best and as long as the inspiration is super clear and the designs are strong you should be good! 👍🏼

hi! do they really care if the swatches are like in my possession? like is it ok if i use a photo i find online?
Thank you sm for this! For the 4-8 designs do you suggest we make those cohesive with the mix and match collection as well?
If you’re heavily inspired by the aesthetic/mood/theme you chose, then absolutely! I dont see why not.
great video!
Thankyou for the video!! It was really helpful

Experience in both :) in all types of sewing would be super handy prior to studying

digital sketches are encouraged so you should be fine :)

can you submit the portfolio without the sewing part? is it accepted
Hello. Does FIT have spring intake?
Portfolio for MFA and thesis, pls if you know any info, let us know. I didn't quite understand that on their website.
Can we discuss about it together?🤔
I am facing the same issue. Please reply if you can share some ideas about it.
@@laxmichhetri12379 we'll discuss.

Can you use a digital media, like procreate to make the illustrations?
Absolutely! You can use Adobe photoshop to touch up your drawings/illustrations
