- Hi all! Want to wish you all well, since right now worldwide we are going through this quarantining together due to corona virus. Hopefully we can all move past this soon, In the mean time here's a video of my personal experience studying FASHION DESIGN in New York City's Fashion Institute of Technology for every girl or guy thats currently in the midst of the application process, or waiting to hear back, or even if you're just considering this school compared to other fashion schools this information could be super useful! TBH, This video was not easy to make, theres honestly so much information that I could go on and on to talk about. It wasn't perfect, there were ups and down but overall my experience was positive and I don't regret going whatsoever. I felt that I still covered a lot of topics I wasn't seeing online, these are ALL the things I feel are important to know when applying/going to FIT and I even cover what I think every Fashion Design student should know POSTgrad. hi,, I got my bachelor degree for fashion design years ago but not from FIT,, and the part about how the design and merchandising students dress are so true 😂 we even need to carry our own dress form to the college because we need to continue draping on it

Is it possible to get a full ride there
hi, do you think socially it's a bad idea to not live in the dorms first year? I want to go to FIT and I want to commute, but I'm not sure if that would affect me badly in terms of making friends
This is a great question! Dorms will help you learn a lot of social skills in terms of knowing how to live with roommates, it will help you make more friends but in the long wrong there truly is no right or wrong way to do it. I’ve had friends that chose not to dorm and they saved money and don’t regret it. It’s really preference if you want to experience that or not

for your portfolio, when you had to explain each design, could you write more than 2 sentences? and do fashion design majors get to work at NYFW?

13:18 Were you able to qualify for in state tuition because you lived in ur own apartment or because you had already been in the state for over two years? The tuition costs are really concerning to me and if I go I want to cut down costs as much as possible. Thx!
You get in-state if you can prove a year of residence in NY state before the school year.
My dream is to study fashion design, I am 16 years old and I am from Mexico, do you know if they have scholarships for foreign students?

Tuition rates will be on their website :) It all depends where you live etc.
How many years did you do community college before transferring to fit?
