Here's something that boggled my mind. If things were different back then and both Felwinter and Rasputin were able to settle things more easier, rather than Rasputin using SIVA on him and the other Iron Lords, could you imagine the power Felwinter would have if he was fully integrated with the Warsat Network while still having the Light?
@@WrathNebula321 He would probably have a more thorough understanding of the light, paracasuality, since he's still a warmind with massive computational power, probably could easily make echoes like Osiris, and forget a golden gun imagine a golden arura knife, light buffed nuclear payloads, an army of light powered frames and golems, the ability to see, calculate, deduce ontological weapons and abilities and deduce conceptual response before a threat is even there.
I'm *really* curious to see what they do with Rasputin now. With Felwinter's Memories, the ability to *SPEAK*, and all the progress he's had from D1, D2 Vanilla/Warmind.... Real potential for a damn good up-front character, not just a background one anymore.
sounds like clovis II died of fatal familial insomnia, it is in fact so sad, a friend of mine has it and has had some scares in the past, he lost his mom to it as well and I believe it’s usually passed on from the mother, which is a weird non-connection here in the story.
It bothers me that when retrieving Felspring, we are told only Iron Lords can access the temple and are denied access even though Salad Bin made us Iron Lord's at the end of Destiny 1. Or did I miss something?
I was wondering that too, but I think it's that they are just playing it safe- with so many of D2's players having never played D1, chances are if you had Saladin let us in as a fellow iron lord there'd be a lot of confusion. It's safer for Saladin to lock the doors for friend and and fellow iron lord alike temporarily (it WAS just under seige).
It didn’t say that. It said Saladin only lets people into the temple when absolutely necessary. It wasn’t necessary for our mission, therefore we didn’t go inside.
In vanilla d2, there were dialogue differences based on how much you'd played d1. I did play d1, but never played Rise of Iron, so my Guardian isn't the young wolf, so i shouldn't get in. Enough of the playerbase is d2 only that they probably decided not to cause a split and just nope everyone from going in. But RoI veterans should get in, definitely. Did you play Rise? Or maybe we can go in later in the season. Anything could happen. I don't think Bungie would remake the iron temple for a quick one and done, too much effort for something so small.
@@SymbioteMullet A minor issue with that is the people who played D1 but remade their guardian for d2. I swapped my Hunter's gender on day one of the Red War, so now I'm stuck getting all the new player dialogue even though I played through all of d1 basically from day 1. I even played a decent amount of the open beta, if IIRC.
Something I never thought about till now, The Iron Lord's wanted Siva, but Rasputin was mad that Felwinter got given the Light and used Siva to kill him. But now Rasputin feels regret for that now. So there is no reason for us to try and use Siva again. Specially if it's completely under Rasputin 2.0 control.
Describing siva is always a bit of a sticking point in destiny lore videos. I think the shortest hand description for onboarding people to siva is "grey goo that is programmed to be useful; building, repairing, or breaking down things." Or be commanded to be more like typical grey goo and kill the ironlords, as the case was that one important time.
I honestly think that the more interesting part of this is HOW they got Felwinter's memories. From a destroyed Felspring. Meaning that we now have more info on how Ghosts actually do what they do. We use to theorize that ghosts pulled us from alternate realities where we didn't die in order to resurrect us. This proves that false now. This proves that Ghosts have back-ups of literally everything we are stored somewhere. That's the only way that they would have all of our memories stored as far as I can tell.
there's still the likelyhood this is exclusive to Exo guardians. Remember the new lore about the Tex Mechanica guardian with a direct link to his ghost? Machine to Machine can connect easily in a way Machine to flesh can't even in D2's golden age universe (billboarding in exo's for example).
@@s_t_r_a_y_e_d That's a good possibility, but I doubt that Ghosts actually work any differently from Guardian to Guardian since they all come from the same source. The Moss-2 link-up IS most likely only possible with Exo since they're both what I would consider Techno-Organic beings and due to this can share a stream of consciousness or data uplink if you prefer. Your theory still holds merit though. Admittedly Ghosts being techno-organic is just speculation on my part, but I do have a theory that's still plausible if Rasputin was made to stop the Traveler from leaving during the Collapse. I say made because Ras doesn't seem to know if this happened or not and it could have been something Clovis did through him. Could have been a failed attempt to destroy the Traveler given what we know now.
If Rasputins exo frame were to become a guardian I can only imagine the lengths Clovis would go to to get his hands on that body for himself, could even see a second spider/crow relationship there
If we have Felwinter back then I want a hell of an unlikely duo. Fynch leaves his knight and becomes Rasputin/Felwinters ghost. Fynch and Felwinter would be so cool and funny.
I think Rasputin as a guardian is already set up, he’s proven the concept of devotion, bravery, sacrifice, and death once, and seems to be prepared to do it again by his talk of protecting us and the traveler.
The more I think about this and I dont know if it was talked about before. But the fact that Felwinter became a guardian, doesn't that mean that the exo frame had an actual person in it before it was turned into a golem, and that guy was just erased from his own body.
No, not necessarily. The warmind is arguably a consciousness. A purely digital one, similar to the exos but at the same time different. The important thing here is the philosphical stance that an advanced AI, similar to a digital copy of an organic human mind, is a conscious being.
What if Rasputin gets revived as a Guardian, and using the light, he can imbue his Warsat and submunitions with the light. After all, all the weapons like the Valkyrie javelin are weapons spawned from the energy core from his facility to make matter be manifested into the shape of weapons? What if that's how we can start to deal decisive blows to the black fleet?
I appreciate how we're all talking about the memory and "Rasputin had Light" side of things, but not the part where the *single most cultured entity in the system* will soon have legs to school us all in the art of spontaneous song and dance.
I still think that we could benefit from Clovis being "given legs". It could easily give us a good jumping off point for Destiny 3 story. It would allow a Fallout Relationship we could follow that could be an interesting angle to mine for lore and gameplay. I know they said we won't get a D3 but I think more and more it's gonna have to be an option
I doubt we’ll ever get a D3. I think it’s more likely and probably a better idea to just evolve D2 rather than build a new game like with mmorpgs like WOW
The warlock mentor lineage makes so much sense now that we know Felwinter taught Osiris, who taught Ikora (who probably was a key mentor of Aunor). All 4 can be summed up as seeking knowledge no matter what the cost.
Now that we have Rasputin like, for real back and with us, do you think we could ask him about SIVA? Maybe make some more cool things with it under his control? Maybe Rasputin gives me a new Genesis Chain?
The questions about the Traveler's gifts is always interesting & I wonder if we'll ever get any firm answers about it, what it is, what its made of or what's in it, how it chooses, etc. I'm always going to hope that we get to go inside of it. But I'm of a different mind about the experience of murdering itself, I think that would be a fascinating experience.
Working on your theory about rasputin. I see it as his son saved his life by giving him what little life he had lived. Felwinter may have been a part of big red but that doesn't mean big red's son didn't have a big heart as well. I personally would love to see at the end of this chapter before neomoona that rasputin gets a chance to properly bury his son and mourn him. Edit:clarity.
Firstly thank you for making these videos. They help those of us that are new or didn't get the season pass to be more knowledgeable about the lore. I am glad that you mentioned how Felwinter's experiences with death are now part of Rasputin's memory since that was the biggest thing to occupy my thoughts on this after the last video. Especially considering the first handful of deaths after being brought back as a guardian when he knew nothing, was confused, and was untrusting. Your comment about Rasputin now in a way being an iron lord got me thinking about how now he knows everything about the original iron lords like training, how they operated, and the different ways they could use their abilities. I feel like this opens an opportunity to have Rasputin involved in iron banner due to the training, but to also further add to subtype classes in the future to create more ability diversity. After all he has extreme computational power, knowledge of paracausal forces to an extent, experiences wielding the light, experiences witnessing how others wielded the light, and knowledge of how the light can be extinguished. While Felwinter's memories provide most of the listed experiences the knowledge of how to extinguish the light came from both of their perspectives from when he killed the iron lords with siva, and that could prove impactful in future events if adapted against the darkness or to protect the light from being taken out of the vessels it is in.

Imagine Rasputin being a Guardian. I see him as a Stormcaller in a Stormtrance, a Dawnblade with the sword stylised to look like the Valkyrie Javelin, or a Shadebinder maybe.
i like to think the golem that was felwinter eventually developed enough personality to be recognized as a candidate to be risen, and as the hive have proven, the shape of the person doesnt matter as long as it can rise. that said, if rasputin were to die when he is fully reformed and completely integrated into his entire arsenal while also having developed just as much personality as the golem, and then risen, could there be a possibility of the warsat network becoming *paracausal* ?
I look at the integration of Felwinter kind of like a GIT branch flow where Felwinter is a branch off of the Main (the warmind) and the branch has finally been merged back into the MAIN branch with the changes being applied. git branch flow can be a complicated subject if you don't know the basics of git but over all, its really simple concept.
@@acgearsandarms1343 What's stopping it from being rebuilt, Failsafe still has Siva onboard her cargo, she just doesn't have access to it, Rasputin can access it because he set the directive in the first place, from there he could give the directive to rebuild the Replication complex, or rebuild it himself with his frames and golems.
I have got to add you and run with you and your clan. I'd be glad to join. Your content and lore understanding is just amazing. I'm a loyal vet since day 1 when Destiny launched. Just amazing Byf!
One thing i think about, now that Rasputin reintegrated Felwinter's memories, is that now he knows how it's to wield the light, now he knows how to use paracausal energy, being light or darkness, maybe he even knows how it's possible to resurrect people, or make weapons based on paracusal energy... It's weird to think that Felwinter became a guardian, but it's even more interesting to think how Rasputin will use this knowledge
What I want to know is: Does the reintegration of Fellwinter's memories into Rasputin mean he has a better understanding of the light and how to use it. Remember, We used his Valkyrie to kill a worm god, and that was from studying us for a bit. What can he learn from a lifetime of USING the light as Fellwinter?
I do wish more people talked about the Cabal casually finding and using Pyramid suppressing technology in the Witch Queen story. Why aren't we reverse engineering that stuff? As far as I can tell, we have no other weapons against these ships
Long back when Rise of Iron dropped, I remember reading the lore when Felwinter & his pal Timir were looking for a bunker of Rasputin. This fresh after reading the memories of the Iron Lords artifacts that would lead up to this. In the D1 Fallen S.A.B.E.R. strike there is a scannable in the room after the arc conduit that documents the bunker's boot up sequence to be a time from long ago. Given the fact that Timir was an Accomplished Storm Caller it made sense with the lore that came afterwards in rise of iron after Taken king. Now, fast forward to d2, season of the worthy and an interesting Retcon was done. They took the story of Felwinter and Timir investigating the bunker and reversed the character roles. In fact I would go as far and say that D1 Timir is now D2 Felwinter & Vice Versa. For where the story has been going that switch worked very well. I'm happy to see it play out as it did. One thing I would have loved to see was Timir return after the wrath of the machine raid but now as an Embodiment of Arc energy living within the Siva control network. Aksis' lore card from D1 mentions that while the Siva flowing through him made him powerful he couldn't shake the sound of another voice in his head. I fancied the thought that in order to survive the Siva Purge, Timir pulled a Toland and did the first & only Arc Self Rez but his mind got shattered or scattered in the process. Thus he would become a villain machine god worse than The Devil Splicers. But that was my theory :-)
In a way, the comparison between Rasputin and Clovis I (as well as the whole Grandfather paradox of his rebuilt form) comes full circle when one remembers Banshee-44 technically _is_ Clovis Bray, rebuilt in much the same way as we are rebuilding Rasputin now. As Banshee grew to be something more than his blueprint dictated, so too is Rasputin growing beyond the tyrant god he was intended to be. The Tyrant, the Prince, and the True Heir.
Imagine if our third "non light" ability are rasputin's stuff like code valkyrie etc in a future where rasputin, thanks to felwinter's memory, understands how to work better with paracausal energy
Something from this season and doing vow of the disciple recently savathun's plan to take the traveler into her throne world would have doomed it cause the witness already had a plan to destroy it when the traveler would come in
I really really enjoy your unscripted videos. It's nice seeing the old byf back. I've been watching you since the beginning of d1. Belive in your self guardian. You are a amazing lore daddy.
The most interesting aspect of this to me is that this season we were SPECIFICALLY told that Ghosts and Exo Guardians can have an symbiotic relationship (the Exo that can let his Ghost take over and cast more epic supers) indicating compatibility on some sort of level between the two "operating systems" they use, (perhaps via light as a "clarity" like medium a la Clovis' initial experiments to create Exos in the first place?) Now, because Felwinter was an Exo as well as a Guardian and has now been reintegrated into Rasputin he could potentially have a much higher intrinsic understanding of the light from a scientific viewpoint: he will "remember" using it and bearing in mind the Exo/Ghost compatibility we are now in a situation where Rasputing could just... become a Ghost or something? Like, he basically has access to all the data in a way nobody else potentially ever has, unless Clovis has been working with Exo Guardians perhaps....?
Clovis Bray's Journal is the best science fiction I've read in decades. At this point, asking "Who is Felwinter?" Is like asking, "Who is Anakin Skywalker?"
You're missing the part where the horrific genetic disease given to Clovis II was deliberate. It wasn't an accident caused by the genetic engineering, it was intentional. Clovis I had this disease and making Clovis II a genetic copy of himself was guaranteed to give him that disease. He also deliberately gave that disease to Elsie. In both cases this was intended to inspire them. A fire beneath their feet, just as it was for Clovis I. The Exo program would not have been as successful or as fast as it was if Clovis wasn't staring down a horrible horrible death.
1:29 ok i know who rasputin is (Clears throat) Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin was a self proclaimed holy man with healing powers, that allegedly healed Nicholas the second first born son, and also had a song written about him by Boney M., or are we talking about Razputin Aquato from Psychonauts? He goes by Raz tho.
So let me get this straight: from the lore we know, Rasputin segmented a portion of himself for the purpose of studying humanity, and that portion is uploaded into an Exo body under the SIDDHARTA GOLEM protocol. That is then lost in the Collapse and then revived in the Dark Age by a Ghost that calls the Exo Felwinter. Without the emotional capacity to understand anger or grief, Rasputin baits Felwinter with SIVA and destroys him along with the Iron Lords as collateral - terminating a rogue asset under the ABSALOM KNIFE protocol. That portion of Rasputin was then reintegrated back into Rasputin in the current season (Seraph). Now Rasputin has all of Felwinter's memories, and he's changing. That won't mean Rasputin will be like Felwinter, it just means he'll use his experiences to make better decisions moving forward, under the assumption Rasputin will live longer than this season. With Eramis going slightly over the edge thanks to the Witness reviving Praksis as Wrathborn, I imagine she'll use her Splicers to hack Rasputin's systems to gain control of those Warsats and attack the Traveller, like it was designed to in the ABHORRENT IMPERATIVE protocol.

Calling it now: Efrideet is on Neptune with the Cloud Striders. Saladin is going to be grumpy about that, but is going to be relatively ok with Rasputin since he’s now spent time with the Cabal.
It's still a possibility now.
@@majesticmajestic7058 Oh without a doubt with Rasputin, but it was something that boggled my mind.
@@majesticmajestic7058 Its possible, but we'll have to wait and see if we ever get to see Rasputin as a guardian.
I'm *really* curious to see what they do with Rasputin now. With Felwinter's Memories, the ability to *SPEAK*, and all the progress he's had from D1, D2 Vanilla/Warmind....
Real potential for a damn good up-front character, not just a background one anymore.
I see it less that Felwinter is Rasputins dad and more that it was like a organ donation from a son
Guardian: hey Osiris what was up with Felwinter’s helm
Osiris: we don’t talk about the helmet
Its never a good thought when the super powerful robot god is like, "yo even im scared of myself"
Shows responsibility actually
Great sign
Odin is also noted as sacrificing themself on the world tree for knowledge after having already sacrificed their eye earlier in life for the same.
sounds like clovis II died of fatal familial insomnia, it is in fact so sad, a friend of mine has it and has had some scares in the past, he lost his mom to it as well and I believe it’s usually passed on from the mother, which is a weird non-connection here in the story.
@@quinnhart8438 It was under siege when we were let in, Saladin just killed a Vandal with a heavy machine gun before opening the door.
I love that part at the beginning "who are you your fascinating" gave me a good chuckle there
Something I never thought about till now, The Iron Lord's wanted Siva, but Rasputin was mad that Felwinter got given the Light and used Siva to kill him. But now Rasputin feels regret for that now. So there is no reason for us to try and use Siva again. Specially if it's completely under Rasputin 2.0 control.
Siva is about to be rendered moot, bud.
Look up the actual Siddhartha, his name's evocation is CRAZY in this story.
the traveler now becomes the warmind's ghost.
That is highly terrifying and I love it.
But SIVA is red and black, not gray
Rasputin giving us SIVA subclass confirmed *Airhorns*
“Fry, you idiot! YOU BECAME YOUR OWN GRANDPA!”
I see felwinters relationship with rasputin as: felwinter is rasputins son that donated a kidney to rasputin that saved his life
I think Rasputin as a guardian is already set up, he’s proven the concept of devotion, bravery, sacrifice, and death once, and seems to be prepared to do it again by his talk of protecting us and the traveler.
If Rasputin ever gets limbs, I'd actually like to see an interaction between him and Banshee.
The great-grandfather?
What if Rasputin gets revived as a Guardian, and using the light, he can imbue his Warsat and submunitions with the light. After all, all the weapons like the Valkyrie javelin are weapons spawned from the energy core from his facility to make matter be manifested into the shape of weapons? What if that's how we can start to deal decisive blows to the black fleet?
Light Valkyries go brrr.
I appreciate how we're all talking about the memory and "Rasputin had Light" side of things, but not the part where the *single most cultured entity in the system* will soon have legs to school us all in the art of spontaneous song and dance.
His own grandfather? I've got a futurama episode for you...
Think more of it as felwinter being a reincarnation of rasputin
The warlock mentor lineage makes so much sense now that we know Felwinter taught Osiris, who taught Ikora (who probably was a key mentor of Aunor). All 4 can be summed up as seeking knowledge no matter what the cost.
Rasputin becoming a guardian would be a epic way to end the season, might be the best end to a season
Now that we have Rasputin like, for real back and with us, do you think we could ask him about SIVA? Maybe make some more cool things with it under his control? Maybe Rasputin gives me a new Genesis Chain?
They are bringing wraith of the machine back so maybe
Someone teach Rasputin to sing, I've got a song he needs
Crazy to think about that rasputin will have memories of using and know how to use the light without ever having wielded it.

Feels like the “Ship of Theseus” question in WandaVision /real life
Absolutely amazed youre still doing destiny videos. I remember you from destiny 1 days. I wish i could grt back into the game but i cant.
I would like to learn more of the other Iron lord's like Nirwen'
Rasputin is his own grandfather is giving me futurama vibes. Now I cant unsee him having a freak out over it lol.
Ok but what if... we do the full scan thing in the DSC and we have Rasputin-1 in the not too distant future?

Reminds me of that greentext about the guy saying he became his own grandpa.
Imagine Rasputin being a Guardian. I see him as a Stormcaller in a Stormtrance, a Dawnblade with the sword stylised to look like the Valkyrie Javelin, or a Shadebinder maybe.
you dont have to have a ghost to wield stasis, so shadebinder would make the most sense

Yep, it just reminds me of some fun time travelling paradox
i like to think the golem that was felwinter eventually developed enough personality to be recognized as a candidate to be risen, and as the hive have proven, the shape of the person doesnt matter as long as it can rise. that said, if rasputin were to die when he is fully reformed and completely integrated into his entire arsenal while also having developed just as much personality as the golem, and then risen, could there be a possibility of the warsat network becoming *paracausal* ?
That's a terrifying thought right there.
It should, Rasputin's only weakness was that he wasn't paracasual.
Guardian: "Where is S.I.V.A?"
Ana: "I'll do you one better, what is S.I.V.A"
Rasputin: "I'll do you one better... Why is S.I.V.A"
Felwinter: "How is S.I.V.A?"
A whole Rasputin, being his own grandfather bed in my mind, at least, is very humorous
I want to see Rasputin to use SIVA to absolutely crush Clovis.
Replication facilities are destroyed and they never designed auxiliary sites to make more. What’s left is paltry to use on a massive scale.
Tech from new city, goes all string theory on him
@@acgearsandarms1343 What's stopping it from being rebuilt, Failsafe still has Siva onboard her cargo, she just doesn't have access to it, Rasputin can access it because he set the directive in the first place, from there he could give the directive to rebuild the Replication complex, or rebuild it himself with his frames and golems.

that was confusing but I am glad you explained. thank you!
“ In a weird way Rasputin in his own grandfather” - “I’m my own grandson” plays in background
Raspitin's family tree is less of a tree and more of a Git flow chart.
That may have been the hardest I've laughed at a Byf video with that "Who are you? You're fascinating" bit about the non-rasputin knowers.
Lore daddy Byf new video. Hell yeah.
The original Felwinter's lie was the gun was not a shotgun, was a sniper
Rasputin becoming a guardian would be crazy
Can't believe Rasputin Philip J. Fry'd himself into being his own grandfather
Interesting how clovis calls rasputin simply an AI and not alive, yet rasputin is more human than clovis ever was
That type of think happens in real life
Narcissists are freaking comedic at times
Something from this season and doing vow of the disciple recently savathun's plan to take the traveler into her throne world would have doomed it cause the witness already had a plan to destroy it when the traveler would come in
1:21 That straight up made me giggle
Rasputin is so cool. I rarely fan girl over anything, but even since Destiny 1, I thought he was cool, I'm glad to see he's only gotten more awesome!

I really really enjoy your unscripted videos. It's nice seeing the old byf back. I've been watching you since the beginning of d1.
Belive in your self guardian. You are a amazing lore daddy.
How sick would it be for Rasputin to gain the light once he's in the exoframe, fully.
Rasputin “My family tree is shaped like a doughnut.”
craziest family tree born from the wildest selfcest story ever
You're missing the part where the horrific genetic disease given to Clovis II was deliberate. It wasn't an accident caused by the genetic engineering, it was intentional. Clovis I had this disease and making Clovis II a genetic copy of himself was guaranteed to give him that disease. He also deliberately gave that disease to Elsie. In both cases this was intended to inspire them. A fire beneath their feet, just as it was for Clovis I. The Exo program would not have been as successful or as fast as it was if Clovis wasn't staring down a horrible horrible death.
The Warmind's family tree is going to start resembling the Ptolemy's before too long! 😅
1:29 ok i know who rasputin is
(Clears throat)
Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin was a self proclaimed holy man with healing powers, that allegedly healed Nicholas the second first born son, and also had a song written about him by Boney M., or are we talking about Razputin Aquato from Psychonauts?
Rasputin is giving some majorly creepy trinity vibes
Byf your editing is fine, and at least in your gameplay you have the Gjallarhorn catalyst lol
Now that Clovis has no options and is surrounded by Xivu, he will join the darkness and become a new disciple.
Ah yes keep it in the family. Turn the family tree in a family circle!
