- Destiny 2's Lore and Story tells us about Rasputin's story and how he nearly fell into the trap laid for him by Xivu Arath. This week we saw the unfolding of what Xivu Arath wanted to do with the warmind and the Warsats as well as her plans for the eventual invasion of the Earth and perhaps, Lightfall.

Now we know Kelgorath's purpose, he's just a sacrifice we keep killing. Poor guy.
Well atleast he finally found something he’s useful for
@@Arctis326 I was gonna say the same thing
Reminds me of the knight from the deathless mission
At least he's making himself useful-ish(?)
He’s bait. Oh look Guardians, I’m sending one of my Darkblades to grab the some of the warminds code. Better kill him and grab the code so you can use you warsats, that’ll stop me for sure.
I really like how Rasputin now has some PERSONALITY. He's actually being humanized now, and is not just this nebulous presence that only Ana can understand. He has agency now that he has a voice that we can all understand. Also, it was a bit disappointing that our Guardian wasn't actually present in this meeting.
Like Ana always dreamed, Rasputin can communicate to everyone. Also I'm disappointed that only 2 people said anything at that meeting.
Ana defends Rasputin like a momma bear defends her cubs.
i just wish he didn't sound like his creator :( I wanted his own unique voice
I mean, even though our guardian catalyzes a lot of story events, we're still just a foot soldier. Far as I can remember we're not usually in these meetings, the only one I can think of we were at was cayde's death and that's because we barged in
@@duranmclemore8667 We were there when he died, we had a place at the wake.
I was among the people who were actually spoiled about this plot point in advance, but I have to say: even knowing something like it would come, hearing Rasputin, THE Warmind, THE greatest creation of humanity, say, for the first time, "I do not know what to do" and even stutter as he does it was rather chilling.
oh yeah? how were you spoiled in advance?
@@RDR911 you just have to [ *DATA EXPUNGED* ]
@@RDR911 There's a 2 hour video of every single bit of dialogue from the season.
All of it.
Kinda like in beyond light when he got trounced by the black fleet?
I think the stalemate is gonna cause Xivu to become desperate and try a full-out assault that makes the Red War look like a scuffle. Either at this season's end or the beginning of Lightfall.
Kinda feel like she is gonna do it Fortnite live event style, where she invades and then boom servers go down for a day.
@@GoogiWasTaken You know, destiny already did that 2 years ago with beyond light.
So its not "fortnite style"
Yeah I reckon season 20 will be dealing with xivu arath on earth while we fight calus on neptune
She is absolutely going to force our hand. That will be week 7, or 8 if there is one.
I... don't think this is actually a stalemate. This is more like... when two chess players reach the point where the first round of exchanges will happen, and it looks like neither player is ready to make the first capture. However while the Coalition is content with repeatedly moving the same piece to maintain their boardstate, Xivu is slowly and quietly moving a pawn forward towards the inevitable calamity.
Either we fall into her trap, or she will force us to spring her trap. Either way achieves the same objective.
At least that's how it feels to me anyways.
I really like what they’ve been doing with Osiris this season. Thst conversation with Mara really was a fantastic way to showcase the parallels between Osiris and Ikora. Osiris now finds himself in the same position with Rasputin/Felwinter that Ikora is with him.
mara has been killing it this season. i love how open she’s become and how she checks in on everyone
Assuming that Xivu Arath’s ritual is dependent on where the final sacrifice is made, we in theory could snap the trap within a trap of our own. On Torobatl the final sacrifice for Xivu Arath’s invasion was was by Cytal’s hand and allowed Xivu Arath to open the portal to Torobatl and invade. So what if we made the final sacrifice somewhere other than the last city? What if we made it in say Savathun’s throne world? The concentration of Lucent Hive and Guardians exploring the throne world would certainly be a task to deal with and Earth at the very least would be untouched. Though that’s entirely dependent on how the ritual works and if it’s location locked.
The ritual isn't the same, same outcome different requirements, Savathun used deceit to fuel the ritual and thus opened the portal by corrupting Caitals general and setting up Caital to kill her. Xivu Araths needs to be fuelled by war so she must cause the right amount of war to power her Ritual and teleport to sol. So every warrior is a blood sacrifice.
Tbf the carnage between both broods would just further feed Xivu Arath
I imagine a massive gateway into Sol in any capacity would be enough. The Throne World is an interesting prospect but I imagine after everything that has happened, it's no different than any other part of Mars (as it's more or less folded into the physical plane). Ultimately, what we want to do is to reject Xivu's invitation to war. Possibly us going "No lol" and do some awoken magic shit to perhaps make it really annoying for Xivu to get a footing in Sol (so if someone threatens to break into your house, instead of pulling a gun on them, you turn on all the sprinklers with some stinky shit to soak the bastard and have them run off)
Oh just let her come to earth and just stomp her out
With Xivu's forces stuck in the ascendant plane, I don't see how she would gain the means to force our hands into using WMDs. Without a big force, she cannot get enough kills to trigger the ritual, and without thenritusl, she cannot get a big enough force.
Not only am I enjoying Rasputins growth as an actual character, but FINALLY someone pulled a reverse uno card on Mara whose deserved it for so long now.
True, but to be fair Mara has been alot more trusting and open since Witch Queen
You mean the the girl that has caused our downfall in all the other timelines? Ana needs just go away before she does something dumb which can be seen coming a mile away.
Mara has grown significantly since season of lost. I think ignoring that is ignorant.
I think we aren't ignoring that; considering the age of Mara, her intellect and ability to speak and communicate with other seamlessly...it's a fair little win for Rasputin.
We haven't even been able to create a 1st general AI in rl...
Mara says the situation necessitates judgement calls,...Clovis-43 aka now Banshee and Felwinter could attest that AI can make proper calls in the most dire and complicated moment.
The look she gave Ana to me was something along the lines of "Bitch I'm Queen of the Awoken, of course I ain't tellin you everything."
We seem to have forgotten about the wild card... Clovis Bray, he could somehow gain control of the warsats and take matters into his own hands, not realizing he will doom us all
Yeah that does seem like a pretty clovis bumface move
Oh no. OH PEASE NO.
"Clovis, you can't be a god of humanity if you destroy humanity."
"Ehehehehehe warsat go brrrrr"
This is exactly what I've said. he's really going to screw us over again isn't he.
Exactly what is going to happen
If there's a stalemate, then Xivu will do something to bait out rage to attack her back. Like she did with Caital, taking her friend and forcing Caital to kill them to start the ritual. Best pieces on the board for Xivu to do that are the warsats and Clovis Bray. That old protocol of Rasputin's to shoot the Traveler to make it to stay, and Clovis declaring humanity doesn't need the Traveler because he will be their god. Allow Clovis to take back the reconstructed network from Rasputin, let his rage at the betrayal take over, and he will attack the traveler. Which will make the guardians respond to protect it and the light, and Xivu will have her ritual and her war. Rasputin won maybe a little bit too easily over Clovis, he's been locked out before. I would shocked if he let himself be totally frozen out by Rasputin again. Xivu may make us kill Rasputin to also kill Clovis to end the attack, and in the process mirroring Torobatl complete her ritual in the bloodshed of battling a warmind.
Clovis was also unaware of Rasputin's changes since the Collapse. He didn't even know that Rasputin survived. Hr might be rushing a solution now, but it'll be shoddy at best.
Back in the Lightfall reveal I think they said that strand will not kill an enemy but remove them from that reality, I think. So if we can’t kill Xivu’s hive directly bc it will empower her what if we have to use strand to defeat her? As in we don’t kill her soldiers just diminish them in Lightfall?
That's similar to my thought of doing a pacifist run of a raid, where you kill as few enemies as possible. Cut off Xivu Arath's supply by denying it to her.
Technically that's still killing because they no longer live
Their soul no longer exists
@@lordferbus2970 It's not bloodshed, however.
@@lordferbus2970 but xivu feeds off of the act of war and bloodshed not death as a whole
Erasing beings from existence is different from killing them. Could be that Deleted Life can't be claimed as tribute like Slain Life is.
In the cutscene, Despite Zavala, Caiatl, and Mithraax not talking and only emoting. I love how it first focuses on the ball thing on Zavala’s desk, constantly going, then as Mara suggests a stalemate she grabs one ball and gently lowers it, stopping the constant cycle, making it very clear to the player what she intends. Very cool detail I love.
I feel Xivu has us right where she wants us. No matter what we do, it benefits Xivu, we launch warsates, and it causes war. We let her have them the same thing. The stalemate can be just as deadly. In a normal game of war, a stalemate is better than losing, but with the God of War that's feed off of battles, a stalemate is just as deadly. She can push as much as she wants and fail as much as she wants and it benefits her and what's dangerous is she'll be strong enough for when the king is on the chess board with his bishop, knights, and rooks its going to be a blood bath. Xivu is definitely a war strategist because the way I see it, she benefits off anything we do in the end.
Yeah, I agree with you wholeheartedly is it highly possible that civil rights has planned for us to enter stalemate and we’re falling right into it on the flipside however, every indication related to this kind of ritual that we have knowledge on and we can access points to a portal of this size trench print boarding troops of this capacity to be a serious undertaking require a large sudden influx of power but it is unknown if she has a way to store this power and ask such can you play a long game?
It's one thing for the war god to see enough war to sustain herself, to whit a stalemate might be plenty, but to empower the black terrace needs a huge surge of battle deaths, one that demands WMDs.
@@Cross31415 wait and see
Agreed the only way to stop this would be peace. Destruction via the power of Rasputin would result in our end. To allow them control of the warsats arguably worse.
Stalemate would result is a battle of attrition as he worm keeps feeding
And peace is not an option
I agree, though, I am sure Rasputin can come up with a way to 'pacify' the enemy into non-action.
Like, make sure that each Hive-ship is disabled/changed trajectory to a endless orbit around the solar system.
Use the songs of his Warmind nodes like he did towards the Vex in the Warmind DLC, by understanding hive-magic - it would be possible to 'sing a lullaby' to the Hive.
The Vanguard meeting cutscene is very well done, really great way of framing the scene starting with the Newton's cradle bouncing back and forth and ending with Mara stoping the pendulum. Just awesome
In my opinion, Xivu has us where she wants. Regardless of the stalemate, even if we don't kill the Wrathborn to activate the ritual, eventually will trigger it.
Xivu just has to wait until the forces of Calus, Eramis or the Witness descend on mass over Earth (like the space battle on the trailer for Lightfall), and the moment there's a great amount of destruction and death, she can activate the ritual.
She has the perfect position already, so unless we can deactivate the ritual from the source, she just has to wait the moment.
Great video byf, I really hope xivu gets her own dlc like oryx and savathun.
Byf you are a master narrator!
Your description of the various forces of darkness moving against earth sent chills down my spine.
love that Rasputin looks between Mara and Osiris alongside the content vaulter
also 8:21 lol
A stalement... I can see this outcome ending in the complete destruction of the warsats. As much of a loss that would be for us we stop Xivu Arath from using it herself. But at the same time this leaves her to converting the whole of House Salvation into Wrathborn & Scorn. At the same time Rasputin will probably remember bout Neptune & be like oh yeah that happened with that Augurmind & I helped hid that colony pod.
If it does come to that, the Warstats could probably be rebuilt from memory using Darkness, and designed and engineered within days with Neomuna’s advanced nanotech. Still, we’d be even more defenseless until the newer, stronger Warstats were built. Though Rasputin could be upgraded with Neomuna tech, and utilize any weaponry and resources he has left. Golden Age weaponry and artillery like the Warstats could probably be rebuilt with the aid of the Bray sisters, Rasputin, Neomuna and their advanced technology, while we could use Deepsight to recall the blueprints and design of the Warstats. Or, Neomuna could have that information in their archives.
The lore page of the veles-x is really interesting. It looks like a lot like the trailer and that the opening mission of lightfall is the guardian (god -meme) hanging on a cabal ship jumping away from seraph station after a battle with us “ holding the line”
Whatever happens next week, some things that are worth noting that I hope show up :
What is Eramis going to do? There have been nods everywhere this season about having second thoughts about where she stands
And either next week or in the coming weeks … a city besieged or the traveller infected by darkness…
That verbal backhand from ana at mara was just perfect. As was mara's look of ooooh I hate it when you're right.
Your comments on all of the Witness-aligned forces moving makes me think. If nothing else from Witch Queen itself, we've learned that the Traveler is, to a degree, selfish. In the face of imminent conflict, it has a marked history (with both the eliksni and TWICE now with the krill/hive) of fleeing to ensure its own safety. When Xivu, Calus, and the lot all descend on Sol in earnest, any day now, will the Traveler stay? Or will it sense another losing battle and flee for calmer skies? The fact that I can't answer that in confidence truly worries me...
I've really been enjoying the lore this season, and eagerly waiting for these videos to come out thanks for making the videos over the holidays as well!
Byf man, I love your videos I love destiny and I love the lore but sometimes it’s hard for me to follow everything and your videos help simplify and make sense of it all keep doing your thing man!
“In the war against darkness, sometimes stalemate is victory.”
That's the terrifying part about xivu arath, eventually she will gain enough tribute, its only a matter of time, a war of attrition is still a war,
She has had us in check for quite a while
I think Xivu has anticipated our understanding, and that she does have a backup plan: Eramis. Xivu's plan is great if she can get her forces over Earth sure, but they're still a threat to us if she can get the bulk of them into Sol, and it was on Europa that her bladed terrace was projected. Betrayal can also be seen as part of war, and all Xivu/The Witness has to do is ask too much of Eramis, and she may snap, killing whatever/whomever is in front of her, whether it's another old friend turned into a mindless Scorn, or a hive commander converting more Elixni into Wrathborn. Such a betrayal might be just what Xivu needs to open her portal. After all, it only took Caital killing her former mentor to open the portal over Torobatl
I coulda sworn the New Seraph weapon lore said something the Bladed Terrace being moved to Sorrow's Harbor? Even then, how important is the Bladed Terrace to the ritual? And could Rasputin remove it with the added insult of minimal loss of life? Not weakening the forces around it, sure, but not feeding the fire of War with bloodshed?
@@steelgriffin7716 Is it possible to destroy the Terrace itself?
@@aztumtheknightofwumbo7060 That's the question, isn't it?
Alternatively, Clovis, not understanding anything, might take command off the Warsats through some Backdoor (we know from Spire of the watcher Gear that he likes to plant backdoors into his Projects) and "fix" our Mistakeof not wiping out her Forces.
One thing to mention the rituals are different. The ritual over torabotl was of savathuns make and she used betrayal and cunning to open that rift. Xivu is different, yes a trick like that could be considered warfare but when I think of war I think of an attack, no mans land, etc. The warsats destroying either side would be an act of war great enough to take over sol with her army. Where a betrayal (through means if the witch queens trickery) such as a long trusted commander/friend that also happens to be way up there in status societal wise is trickery powerful enough for savathun to open a portal over torabotl
Yo Byf just posted more lore wakey wakey!
The ultimate problem here is that even a stalemate produces a lot of carnage. Mara's point, that Xivu can just pile Wrathborn onto us still stands. Sure, Mara may have realized this whole thing was a setup for us to Torobatl ourselves... but that doesn't change the fact that Xivu can simply grind us down through the attrition of numbers - she's got a lot of numbers on her side. Eventually, she's going to hit that threshold to trigger an incursion one way or the other.
So... maybe the real strat is to wait for that moment, then Warsat Xivu back to Fundament. Not that it's a lasting solution, mind. But it would tee up a raid-team Bladed Terrace take down to possibly make an end to the Osmium Dynasty once and for all.
Taking down Xivu should open up options for the warsat if no one else can feed on the slaughter. Other than that, if there was some way for the sats to attack the ascendant realm or the hive as they flow into the moon, depriving her of her army might be the way to go though she herself would be incredibly powerful.
The end goal of the plan for Xivu doesn't really matter cause the two outcomes more or less favor her somewhat. Option one, she gets summoned through overwhelming violence at the death of the wrathborn. Option two, we end the conflict in a stalemate, and she gets to attempt to prove toland's words. That the queen of of armies and swords would triumph over an alliance of walls and spears.
But one prophecy by Osiris menetions “three siblings that wage their hopeless war, an eldritch race finally destroyed”. We predicts that the three Hive gods will die a final time, and the Hive will all die following them. But, we don’t know if this prophecy by Osiris will come to pass.
@@garrettviewegh677 the eldritch race is the witness
I would like to state that if anyone didn't see this coming you should go back into the lore and ask how Oryx brought Xivu back to life.
He embodied trickery and cunning to get Savathun which can be done in several fashions. But to embody war and strategy you'd have to go to war, which is completely possible considering Oryx was a conqueror of world (through destruction). In fact, the Sword Logic itself can be considered the embodiment of war since you're constantly battling to prove you deserve to exist; a war with death.
Xivu is basically everywhere, even systems that haven't yet heard of the hive.
*nods in approval, wipes single tear from eye*
"Khorne cares not from where the blood flows" is how I would sum up this problem
I feel like Xivu definitely has a contingency plan ready in case this plan fails, and I believe that contingency is somewhere along the lines of forcibly integrating Clovis into the Exo Frame to wrest control of the Warsats from Rasputin after his full reintegration, maybe by putting Clovis into a piece of submind data we end up collecting. It makes sense given that at the end of week 4 of this season, Ana intercepted part of a message Clovis broadcasted before Rasputin took control of the frame: "They know", suggesting that Clovis is working with the Witness and its forces (although there's one piece of lore that could cast doubts on this, but I can't remember which weapon it's on), so Xivu would use this recruitment of Clovis and his knowledge of Rasputin as a plan C since plan A was Clovis having control over the Warsats until Ana gave Rasputin control of the frame, which led to plan B of making Rasputin enact Xivu's ritual instead of Clovis, which we have recently uncovered for ourselves. Either way, things are getting interesting.
That message Clovis broadcasted was to himself (the main AI on Europa) and it was meant to warn the main AI that the everyone else was aware of their plan to take over Rasputin´s network, become a "god" and control humanity.
Pushing towards a stalemate might in fact make the War God herself go desperate, she was only able to conquer Torobatl thanks to her sister, Savathun, tricking Umun'arath into creating the ritual necessary for invasion. But without her sister, Xivu Arath had to wait for us to use the Warsats on her brood in order to open the gates, now that we know what her end game is, its now going to be a waiting game for both sides.
But here's something that has bothered me after learning about her plan, I made a comment earlier about Kelgorath being to help her grow, what's stopping her from using Kelgorath as the final sacrifice needed to invade Earth? We've faced against Kelgorath time and time again, and it still feeds her worm regardless of either his victory or his defeat.
What if to create the bloodshed needed for the portal the witness orders eramis’s troops to “battle” xivu araths since she needs the bloodshed/war to open the rift?(Basically sends Eliksni/Scorn to die) and that’s what draws Erasmis over to our side once and for all? Might not work with how the nature of her worm is but it’s just a thought
would definitely be the final straw if Eramis was given orders to send her people to fight a battle they were never meant to win, only die to fuel the summoning of a more cooperative and competent ally for the witness.
I think thats exactly what the witness is doing by turning them into scorn
That makes sense,
The witness rewards xivu with getting her war on Sol while further punishing Eramis
@@mattspychala7251 right and this made eramis dislike the witness more than she did I was saying because the hive of xivu arath are clearly a more powerful asset to the witness and possess much power that he sends his smaller and weaker army to die so his overwhelming force can arrive on the moon
I’m worried that Clovis might do something that completes the ritual. I mean, while the guy was in the helm with us, he may have snuck in some sort of back door into the expo frame or the virus uploaded into the seraph station, and take matters into his own hands and steal control of the warsats for a long enough time to unleash them upon Xivu’s forces and give her what she wants.
We seriously need to put him down or do what we did to the Lucent Hive during season of the risen to extract every last kilobyte of data from his mind (unless House Light splicer can achieve the same results.)
I have this deep fear that at the moment we gain control of the Warsats Clovis Bray will open a back door into Rasputin's code and release the Warsats himself. Undermining everyone because "he is the only one that should be humanity's savior".
A terrifying situation to be sure. Clovis being so up his own ass about being a savior he ends up being our anti-christ.
Xivu Arath's raid mechanics are going to be split between fighting hoards of mobs and turning our back, running around, and genuinely not fighting her to depleat her of power.
I'd like to think of it as constantly edging an edgy "war god" into insanity.
Wouldn't work it'd take literally forever for that to work.
"edging an edgy war god into insanity" is possibly the best thing I've heard in weeks!
@Riskrunner Still would be funny to see their reaction/internal monolog though.
@@Capsuleer7 she'd be annoyed but we've always been annoying to her.
quick guardian, EMOTE TO DPS HER
Xivu Arath is playing this with patience and smarts. Give your opponent the idea your fighting back, but not so much as to lose your main mass of fodder for the 'grand feast' ahead, so to speak.
I like that Zavala has a Newton's cradle on his desk. I'm personally fascinated with Newton's cradles
the radio talk between Osiris and Mara gave me chills
To quote an apt point on if Xiva Arath has planned around ours "Now zat zey know our plans, zey vill plan around our plans. And so ve shall in turn plan around the plans zat zey are planning around our plans!" The Major in Hellsing abridged
I’d like to see Xivu try, I have a Thundercrash ready to burst her into Hive bits… Unless the Guardians get severely nerfed, we’re pretty godlike at this point. Her, Calus and the Witness will all die in Lightfall…but the dramatics make for a fine story though! I’m only curious after those 3 are dealt with, who is left? Pretty sure we would’ve killed every boss in the lore, unless someone is missing… Crota’s long lost second cousin on his mother’s side: Shanix lmao
Oh Clovis Bray! Well he’s no issue, just a nerd assimilating himself into technology. Again: we’re very overpowered
Doubt we'll kill more then Calus in Lightfall, we do have the final shape DLC next year before the light and dark saga comes to a end and we move on to a new narrative.
Ive been waiting for this content for a month lol superb!
"... So have you."
Honestly, best line in that whole cutscene. Ana dishing it out!"
We need to remember Clovis is very unhappy with us and there’s no way he doesn’t have a plan too
That fact that they made us go to Zavala's office despite us not being in the cutscene at all really just grinds my gears the wrong way. >:/
Xivu’s back up plan could be to sacrifice the scorn. They are pawns to her anyway. That would allow her to open the portal whether we fight or not.
Pleasantly surprised we got a story development of this level after the mid story cutscene, normally the story slows down to just VA and text and then cliffhanger until the last big story beat at the end.
As for the ritual itself, I suspect we won't trigger it, rather it's a narrative deterrent to give justification for the warsats not becoming a instant conflict solver.
Xivu Arath basically has us in a lose-lose scenario. Unless Rasputin, Mara, Osiris, or we come up with some extremely clever plan to stop the ritual entirely, all she needs to do is to wait for anyone to pull the trigger.
If xivu is as good of a strategist as we have been led to belive, I would be surprised if she _didn't_ anticipate us playing for stalemate. she has seen the checkmate, and is playing for it. i fear that even playing for stalemate won't be enough. we _will_ need the warsats eventually, and the destruction they will bring _will_ summon Xivu Arath into the system. that is an eventuallity she has forced upon us. put simply, she has pinned our most powerful piece on the board, and has done so with a cleverly hidden discovered check. (I am using chess here because it is very clear she is playing that kind of war with us)
"They know" from Clovis Bray is definitely gonna come back to bite us at some point
last time i was this early Dominus Ghaul kicked me off the Tower
Man I'm getting more and more excited for Lightfall and to see Xivu's "plan" explode.
(Possible spoilers!)
At the end of week 6, rasputins closing dialogue sounded really glitchy. I believe apart of clovis still lives within the exo frame and when we fully intergrate RED into the frame, clovis will be able to resume control. With the full power of the warmind at his disposal, i think he will try and fire upon the traveller. Fulfilling his original plan with rasputin. I say this because in the seasonal trailer, there is a yet to be seen cutscene of ana, the exo frame and a screen with a targetted traveller. This has lead me to believe he will shoot the traveler and from the aftermath of the strike on the traveller, Xivu arath will open a portal and attack the last city. Maybe next week or just before lightfall launches as an end of season event. This could also be a reason why we are fighting the cabal in the game awards trailer. To surround us at all fronts and on our home turf.
Great video btw
I don’t know if it’s just me but when Ana says “So have you.” Mara looks either genuinely surprised or impressed
the entire time when mara Osiris and Rasputin are talking I was like. BYF WAS RIGHT!!! RIGHT ON THE DOT!!! 🤣
Xivu definitely has planned for this, she may have successfully corrupted parts of Rasputin's code and will force him to act, which might lead to a sacrifice for Big Red.
I love the way the exo body sounds
Seeing as xivus worm feeds on war and battle, maybe we should offer her a nice sit down with tea and biscuits for a friendly chat and stop all this sillyness. Surely a good tactic to counter her plan.
I’m actually excited for this war
New Lore Daddy just dropped!
I think one thing that needs to be considered is even stalemating, war still occurs so if we stall it may be slower but Xivu will still gain power slower pace than if the warmind was used, which could be what leads into later events in light fall that the slow buildup from the stalemate gives Xivu enough power to invade later down the line
I think that’s what will happen. Mara, us, Osirs, and a few other characters, buying time while they research Neomuna, so we have time to search for it before/during Lightfall, when Calus’ forces arrive to invade. So that way, we’ll have discovered Neomuna and whatever power that lies there, we defeat Calus. Then we’ll be ready to defeat Xivu Arath when her armies arrive as reinforcements.
I would not be surprised if Xivu Arath has eyes on us as well, perhaps even for the ritual. Since we were first resurrected eight years ago, we have warred against and slain a majority of the powerful entities who have come to Sol. Atheon, Crota, Oryx and his Court, Aksis and Siva, Panoptes and Xol, Riven, Savathun and Rhulk. You do not have a body count like that and not get a War God's attention.
Throughout Season of the Seraph, we have fought and slain Kelgorath (again) and taken his blade to male a weapon of our own; we have killed the Scourges, Hive who participated in conquests from Torobatl all the way back to the Helium Drinkers, the verh beginnings of the Hive.
If not Rasputin, depending on last week; if not Clovis, if he does something underhanded the moment Rasputin can access the Warsats, then what about us? What if, in fighting the stalemate, we generate enough death over time through killing powerful Hive, Wrathborn and Scorn that enough tribute is amassed to complete the ritual anyway, instead of in one fell swoop?
The coalition vs xivu has basically turned into that scene from princess bride where wallace shawn and westley are going back and forth with the poison
Rasputin changing his title from Warmind to Wargod would be nice touch by the end of this season
I feel like Clovis might know a weapon that could sacrifice the wrathborn. Clovis might want to be on the "winning" side, so he will help Xivu with this invasion.
I don´t think so. His goal is to rule over humanity, Xivu wants to exterminate it.
Rasputin’s a friggin beast and I’m pretty nervous about Xivu Arath’s machinations. I can only imagine the amount of havoc she’s gonna wreak in Lightfall, if she makes an appearance in the campaign. Btw, I just got back into Destiny 2 after a long hiatus. During the past few months, I was focused on getting my home established, making sure that my finances were in a stable state b4 I made my return. Now, I’m happy I did, I pre-ordered Lightfall, and I love the Quicksilver Storm rifle! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 It reminds me of the Doomslayer’s heavy assault rifle and cannon from the Doom games. 👍🏻
I get how Mara and Osiris' conversation is serious and all but I can't get over Osiris' cloak jiggling around as it weirdly interacts with the ground
New byf vid = depresso gone :D
But, now that they know of our plans--Ahh~, but that is the plan. Now that they know our plan, they will plan around our plan, and so we shall in turn plan around the plan that they are planning around our plan!
Imagine how cool it would be if we actually lose and we have a season or more with a doom eternal style theme where we face a massive hive invasion of earth with heavy metal playing as we rip and tear through the seemingly infinite forces of xivu arath, I would like for us to face something like that, the last time we had stakes that high was Destiny 2 vanilla and that was squandared so this could be a second chance for bungie to get this plotline rigth.
You mean you DON'T already have a playlist playing death metal in the background while slaughtering hordes of aliens?
I say the best way to deal with it is just keep doing what we're doing, but not not to attempt to make a final blow, but keep engagements small enough to where her worm gets ravenous enough where it's more likely to consume her than see the victory of either side.
Mara is a really good therapist. Never thought I'd say that.
she is several billion years old and her talent of manipulation shows her very complete if not perfect understanding of human psychology.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for stopping saying “Chivu” and saying it correctly now lol. Despite many many times on the game being mentioned lol. Now I can watch you videos peacefully lol. Great content tho.
I like that the plan here is for Rasputin to take his ball back and go home.
I just had a horrible idea, 😳 what if xivu arath learns strand, like how house salvation learns stasis, and uses it to make wrath born psychically, obviously just cause we’re the first to discover/make it doesn’t mean we’re the only ones to learn it, and it is a darkness power
Kelgorath: "what is my purpose?"
Xivu: "you pass butter"
She looks so badass in that thumbnail artwork wtf!!
As for me, I think that we'll be able to get into that stalemate this week, but that Xivu Arath will unveil her counter in an epilogue mission at the end of the season
Many years ago, I ran a D&D campaign in a "Ravenloft adjacent" setting of my design where Vampires and Necromancers had formed a quiet alliance wanting to turn the known world into an empire of entropy (yeah I was an angsty boi).
The solution my players came up with was to disrupt the developing supply chains which gave power to both the Necromancers (some of which aspiring to Lichdom) and Vampire lords. By Targetting key individuals, not always of greatest power, they were able to restrict resources (corpses and blood/life energy which weakened the Empire of the Dead.
It would be interesting to see if a similar strategy was employed here.
Disrupt Arath's tithing through surgical strikes against sub commanders
cut out mid points to minimize the flow of power, then clean laterally, and vertically rather than wholesale war which is what she wants.
I think the fleet that invades earth in the game awards trailer will be either a result of xivu’s victory or a desperate play for victory after a stalemate or lose at this war for the warsats, either way I’m hyped for the end result and how this will connect us to lightfall
I think one more question in mind is regarding Nefele Stronghold (Neomuna perhaps). At some point we know the location will be revealed, but how? Rasputin makes mention of having knowledge of it in the past, but it had been scrubbed when Osiris was asking about it. So this brings up another question. What does total victory in this season look like for Xivu Arath? I doubt it would be just the destruction of the Last City at this point. Could be unrelated, but it’s just a thought.
I think that this could all be a big distraction. With the Witnesses' forces attacking Neptune in Lightfall I think Xivu Arath's counter plan is to get the location of Nefele Stronghold and use that war to enact her ritual if we don't use the Warsats
There is piece we haven't seen discussed: Savathûn. Her name has been dropped a number of times during this season, so why wouldn't Rasputin use a piece of the game that was seemingly out of play, a potential wildcard to throw chaos into Xivu's plans.
She's hinted at because she's part of the royal family much like Xivu Arath. Also we're still in Witch Queen saga era. We have yet to reach Lightfall era.
It seems Xivu, or at least her worm, is more like Khorne from 40k than I thought. Does not care from where the blood flows, only that it does.
Well Xivu Arath is basically the Destiny equivalent of Khorne since she's the Hive god of War
Byf at the end be like
"Ah but that is the plan, for now that they know our plan they will plan around our plan and then we will plan around the plan that they plan to plan around our plan."
Shoutout to Mara for being willing to listen to everyone problems. First Elsie and now Osiris🤣
I think that the goal was exactly the stalemate. The insurance that the warsat network cannot be used against the forse of the darkness. If we would fail to see the trap that would be even better, but as we stand I think it's more than enough for Xivu, Calus and the Witness to held us in this checkmate.
Let's be real. Xivu already got a plan on top of a back up plan. What ever it is, you better buckle up. This gonna be a hell of a ride
Ana: He is more than a weapon.
Player: SHE SAID THE THING!
Babe wake up new byf video dropped
So who's gonna end up being the better strategist? The ballet-loving supercomputer with all the memories of an iron lord or war personified in one giant bug/crab lady? Thrilling
Countering the countering of the counter-counter plan... When war plans become so meta they transcend logical reactions and planning. 😄
From a writing perspective, the smart story beat to do is bring back Clovis as the Witness' stooge. He was trying to take the place of the Warmind, probably so he could assume command of the war sats and do exactly what we're trying to stop from happening. That gives a way for more tension to be added, while stringing this plot thread out longer. In the end, based on how these things normally go, the sacrifice will happen, and we'll have to find a way to stem the tide, probably by taking the fight directly to the War God herself. After all, the story is working toward a direct confrontation with the Witness, there can't be any lackeys left standing before that happens.
There's still a few parties unaccounted for too, in terms of the final battle. Namely the non sol divisive vex, and the lucent hive...and I guess Neomuna. There's also the recurring theme coming of is Rasputin just a weapon.... or more. And I guess there is also what the Traveller is capable of doing/is doing now that it is awake and healed. Of course Clovis I also may bungle things up if he tries to take over the warminds network.
There would be a nice irony if Rasputin/The City had a deus ex machina coming.
Xivu doesn’t care who spills who’s blood, just that blood gets spilled. I feel like one of three things will happen, either she stays a threat hanging overhead until Final Shape, she gets another party involve maybe Clovis or someone or Neomuna is the missing piece to her puzzle and she’ll use them for the ritual.
Zavala Mithrax caitail just chilling and nodding
I think Rasputin in his uncertainty realizes he can't do anything other than solve things with destruction, therefore he convinces everyone that sacrificing himself is the only option to prevent the war ritual after the warsats are back in our control and sacrifices himself but in doing so it will be another way for the ritual's catalyst to take off.
