    "I was a fast jet pilot, not multi-engine. But the airmanship and mission planning are largely the same. Slightly different content style from me. This is a 'one-take recording' of a mission covering a variety of profiles and techniques. I highlight some bugs and lack of functionality with v1.0 of the Transall C-160 by AzurPoly for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Expect an update to come out and fix things. They call it a "Bearing Distance Heading Indicator", but it's a fancy RMI yes. ILS localisers are not omnidirectional so RMI-esque instruments shouldn't point at them ( and Azurpoly acknowledged it's a bug - it's also a bug in most MSFS aircraft! ), not sure about the dot on the EHSI though, whether that's some fancy synthesized bearing indicator when you're in the lobes or just the default avionics section thinking it's a VOR.
      I still haven't got round to flying the mission, I must.

    Hey Chris cracking video as ever full of instructional gems. An insight into the world of the fast jet pilot. On your point about the row of terraced houses as you exit the 'Bulch' in the loop, it is in fact a row of large dressed stones.... going back to the days of this area being very much outlaw country. Thanks so much! My pleasure. Best jets, maybe it’s time for me to make a video on that. But if I had to buy 3 right now, I’d have F35 for level of detail, model variants and VTOL abilities. The Hawk T1 of course as it’s slightly older school, less tech but great systems depth. But it suffers from some buggy handling characteristics and needs that fixing for a good handling experience. For a third aircraft, hmmm, somewhere between Harrier by DC Design, Typhoon by CJ Sim, and MB339 by indiafoxtecho as an alternative to the Hawk 👍🏻

    One question I have is about the Hawk T1A. I can fly it but I struggle to fly it smoothly. Is that the whole point and can you do a video about how to fly it smoothly and accurately with regard to trimming, engine power etc? In words and pictures that a Beano reader can understand?

    • @cgaviator
      @cgaviator  Рік тому +1

      the hawk has a bit of a buggy trim system, it's too sensitive to pitch changes and hard to get it to trim perfectly. Not really a video I can produce to fix that as even I struggle with it. You could watch my Land Any Jet video for info on pitch and power settings in the pattern. Otherwise it's all about keeping a good cross check. Perhaps I will do a Select Hold Trim video!

      I have triple monitor so my map is always to the side. In this video I wanted to save some editing time by doing it one take so I used OBS and a stream deck button to overlay the map real time to the video but it didn’t appear on my MSFS window while flying. A bit complicated, but in essence I did it for the viewers. I know there are some ingame apps that have a tablet map type function if you were interested in that 👍🏻
