- I am a beginner CNC woodworker/operator and am using this video to share with you some tips that I picked up as I set-up my CNC table for the Onefinity Woodworker. This machine does not come with instructions so it's pretty helpful to check out an online set-up video to get an idea of where things need to go, although all the parts and cables come well-labeled. You can check out an official assembly video on the @onefinity UA-cam channel or check out their website at www.onefinitycnc.com to check out the machines!

Hey christy love the video. I really wish there was an in-depth setup video like this when I got mine. One suggestion I would make is don’t put the monitor on the rail where it’s supposed to go. The magnets are cheep and people bump them and they fall to the floor and break all the time. I removed one of the pieces from the mount and actually just secured it on the table next to my machine. Much more user friendly and less prone to accidents.
Now that I see your set up for the monitor, that’s a great suggestion. I never did mount it because I didn’t love the location. I’m in limbo!
Also, I gotta say your gymnastics routine at the end really sold me on the strength of that unit. That was impressive.
Haha! Yes these things are rock solid and I used tapcons to attach my table to the concrete wall so the table doesn’t budge. I think that’s pretty important when you have a CNC with as much speed and power as the Onefinity.
Loving all the details you are sharing here and on IG! I've been wanting a CNC for years and this is such a help in making me comfortable enough to take the plunge.
My search for machines to start a business with almost 3 years ago now actually involved researching CNCs. They seemed very overwhelming to me at the time. I didn’t even think I could get it assembled properly. This machine is nothing like what I researched years ago. It is WAY easier to set up. Thanks for letting me know and I hope when the time is right, you can totally feel empowered and capable.
You make great, clear & concise videos! Thanks for cord management ideas!
Aw thank you so much! I’m glad you got some ideas out of it. Merry Christmas!
I’m so excited for you friend! This is so exciting and I can’t wait to see what you do with it!
Thanks buuuuddy.
Awesome video! Great tip on the twisted rails. Definitely keeping this one handy for when mine shows up!
Thanks! Both my Y rails needed to be tweaked. Nice that it is such a simple fix. It did remind me though that I need to get better hex wrenches. That multi tool isn’t great.
Going to follow this video when I set mine up. Thanks for the video.
Oh thanks for watching! More are on the way. You’ll pick it up fast - I know you are a smart guy!
All in the details! Well done!
Thanks, Mike! You are more experienced than I am…. Got any tips for me?!
Nice job 👍 It was pleasant to watch, sure looks fast to install that’s cool! Looking forward to see what fun things you create.
Pretty basic to get it set up. Next comes accessories and then of course starting it up!
I'm looking into a CNC, thanks for showing the ease of setup.
Hey thanks for checking it out. Much appreciated. This particular brand seems to be on the way easier side of things when it comes to set-up and being more user-friendly.
Killin’ it, Christy!
Thankful for support like yours, truly!
Great setup video with excellent tips and your “I would do differently “ suggestions. Your videos are making me want one of these CNC machines so badly. 😁 so excited to see your next step video.
Thanks!! I’m glad you liked it. This seems to be the easiest one to get started on if you ever consider a CNC purchase. - yeah what should the next one be? I’m assuming first time starting it up and what to do next.
@@OakHillMillworks yes, starting it up and first cut. And of course I hope you get into the software piece. I think that is what would intimidate me the most. 🤪
I think that’s what most people want is the how-to behind designing. That will have to be carefully considered because there are so many different softwares out there. I’ll do my best!
I want to get a onefinity now just because I know there’s a good tutorial on assembling it from someone I trust.😊
Haha there are WAY better reasons to get a onefinity than my videos 😂😂 but thank you! As long as you go and watch my squaring up video because I didn’t do it properly in the initial set up video! Haha.
Excellent information thanks
Aw awesome. I’m glad it helped a little. Nice to see what’s inside and it’s kinda prepare for the set up while waiting for the machine like so many are!
Great stuff, friend!
Thank you, Timothy!
Very informative Christy! I like the mounting of the power unit under the table to allow for monitor placement on the table.
Already having to make adjustments 😂
😬 thanks! Yeah I just tried to think about all the dust I will be making and hoping keeping that under would help with making cleaning easier and just keep the control box cleaner too. Thanks for checking it out!
Looking forward to bringing this into my classroom! Now, I have a perfect set up tutorial to follow ☺️ Just looking for a business partner to help make some of my teacher dreams come true!
Whaaaaat. You want me to bring this to your classroom!? Lol
Great Video! Hoping to unbox my 1F next week 😀
That’s exciting!! Thanks for checking this one out. I’m trying to push myself to keep making them with the hopes that they will help others get going. Have fun!!
Nice video Christy and glad you could get some exercise while making this! Time to climb on a miter or table saw
Don’t challenge me, Scott. You have seen what I can do with two yuenglings and a banjo. 😂
@@OakHillMillworks almost forgot about that 😂
How could you forget that?! Haha.
Nice job Christy. One day when I get one you’ll have to help the old guy set it up.
Enough with the old guy jokes! You’re only as old as you feel. 😂
@@OakHillMillworks Well I just got home from the trip
And I have to say My body feels really old. 🤪 TOTALLY worth it!
Great Video. Thanks for all the good info. Why did you use the blue tapcons to attach the frame to the table? I have only seen them used for concrete.
That’s what I’m used to using tapcons for as well! I absolutely hate the slotted ones. That is actually what came with my machine but I also received this as a refurbished model pro gratis so perhaps that isn’t the standard fastener that comes with the CNC.
Very nice!!! I’m curious if the surge protector will be too sensitive to power everything at once. Even if, it’s a great setup and an easy fix to upgrade to a shop grade power bank!! Love it!
I haven’t even turned this sucker on yet so we about to find out!! 😂😂
Well done
Thanks!
Perfect.
Thanks for checking it out! Hope it helps.
Great tips! I've had mine setup for months but the wood prices were so high I have yet to use it. Looking forward to putting it to work though.
I know how you feel! You gotta have some scraps to experiment with though…. If not, I’m sending you some!
@@OakHillMillworks LOL, thanks!
Pretty stout trails/tubes! I ordered the X50 the other day. I really hope it does what it needs to do. I've been thinking (calculations) with the additional thickness and wider tubes it should be stronger or just as strong as the 3. Full 2 inch wide and almost 1/4" (.236) think tubes (hardened) should be great! Nice video! (I would have only put one screw in the right corner, then bolt the gantry down to the front, then put one screw in the left, then move the gantry all the way to the back and then put a screw in each side, then lol put the rest of your screws in. None the less great job!! I find a woman that's into this stuff... Game over) lol lol. 🤣😂👏👍😊
Good luck with the X50! - yeah that homing and squaring up video that you commented on earlier was basically me correcting the mistake I made in this video with that same method you just described. It’s too bad that seeing women in this realm is seen as unique. I’m working hard to break those barriers down and hopefully inspire more women to get involved with tools or CNCs or lasers. People should go after what they want, whether it’s a male taking a dance class or a woman learning to weld. 💪🏻❤️
I too have one on order and should be here any day. My question is I see as you are loosening the holder for the router on top that there is rust on the bearing and the screws appear to be rusty as well
Had you noticed this on other parts of the machine?
That’s exciting! Yours will not have signs of rust. My machine was not purchased new. This is a refurbished model that the company sent to me for review/content purposes. Great question. Have no fear!
Great video. Can’t wait for my onefinity to land.
I’m excited for you! Is your table/space set up yet??
@@OakHillMillworks the table is next. I just got my 80 mm spindle all wired and ready for when it lands
Dang you didn’t even mess around with a trim router you jumped right to spindle!
@@OakHillMillworks yep wanted to jump right in 😂
Onefinity makes it super easy, don’t they? Do they have any advice for how to make the space for a CNC in a small shop? 😂
Great video Christy!
Thanks! I think they do actually. They make a folding rollaway stand that the CNC gets bolted to for small shops! It could even be mounted on a wall and flipped up when you need to use it. They have some info on their UA-cam and website on those options!
@@OakHillMillworks awesome, thank you
NICE!!!☺
What was your FAVORITE part? When it ended? 😂
@@OakHillMillworks no way…
I see you dodged the orig question 😂 I’m mostly curious to know if people are actually watching it. I’m ok with just letting the play too. Gotta have 1000 subs and 400 watch hours to begin to monetize UA-cam. I think.
Squaring of the machine can be done a lot easier and possibly more accurate than eyeballing it with a speed square.
Put 1 screw in the front corner of a Y-rail, attach the X rail on top and move it all the way to the front, then put 1 screw in the front corner of the other Y-rail.
Then move the X-rail all the way to the back and it will square itself.
Onefinity has a video detailing how to do this.
Yep that’s a great way to do it now that you mention it. I have not watched every UA-cam by Onefinity so I missed that one. Thanks for mentioning that option.
If you put your spoil board on top of your table, aren't you losing about 3/4 inch on your Z height? I would think you should put spacers, the thickness of your spoil board, underneath your track anchors.
Totally could do that if you had needs to do some super deep carves or cuts! Great idea.
Do you think it’s best to use MDF for the table top (not wasteboard) as it will stay the flattest compared to plywood?
I think so but then again you could make the argument that you are going to flatten your Wasteboard anyway, which will counteract any part of your table top that isn’t perfectly flat. Does that make sense?
The true squaring process is a bit more complicated. Both Y rails should be exactly the same length, but should be verified. That done, you need to take the diagonal measurements between them and assure they are identical. You can get close. You can even get lucky, but you are much more likely to end up with a trapezoid than a square if you don't tweak into identical cross measurements. It will happily carve obtuse or acute angles in place of 90's.
Yeah this is not a conclusive video by ANY means. I did get very close on my own Y-rail cross measurements and decided that, since I’m not making parts for NASA, it would work! Thanks for your feedback!
Just curious... as I am waiting for my Onefinity CNC to be delivered, at about the 10:50 mark it looks like there is some rust on some of the components of X axis carriage assembly... am I seeing that right? If so, was this received as a brand new machine?
Nope. Because I make videos for a living, onefinity sent an older refurbished machine to me to use. This was not a new machine.
@@OakHillMillworks Gottcha... thank you!
I noticed (10:23 timestamp) that there is some rust forming on the nuts and on the Z spindle mount runners of the Onefinity. Is this machine new? Or have you since talked to Onefinity about this issue?.
Hi Chris - this was an older machine that was refurbished when I got it. I haven’t actually done anything to try to clean them up. I did tell onefinity about it as they sent it to me for product testing and they did not feel it was a concern in terms of affecting its function.
@@OakHillMillworks that’s good to know. I love your videos by the way. Nice and informative but in a fun friendly way.
@@Chriswoodworker thank you for taking the time to tell me that! It has been a climb to try to grow my UA-cam channel and I do it as I’m learning so it can be tough but comments like yours are very encouraging! I’m currently trying to decide what the next video should be on. Any ideas??
Did you buy your machine used? The top of your Z axis looks rusted?
Good eye! It’s a refurbished model that I was given by the company. I did not purchase this machine and it is not new. New machines will not have surface rust. 👍🏼
@@OakHillMillworks little worrisome that they can get like that at all.
@@Golfexpertbelieveme I can see why. But the rails are spotless and that’s what really matters. That stuff is cosmetic. Maybe it was in a non-temperature controlled space before I got it. Lord knows it is not in a temperature controlled space now either. #garageshop
